exaggeration can be fun. esp. exaggerated sensuality. but something about Bayonetta puts me off, even though I realize those thick-rimmed glasses she's wearing are only there for sexiness (obviously it's ridiculous to have an arsenal of hair-attack spells but none for your near-sightedness when you intend to do all kinds of flippin & kickin).

just figured out what puts me off: this game seems to take itself seriously. over-the-top is fine as long as you do it right. for ex, Crank was actually a great movie IMO because it knew exactly what it was (completely over-the-top action).

missed Crank 2 in the theaters, hopefully that 1 comes to XBL also.

Yeah does look very good and these guys are some of the coolest devs just based on their past achievements. Okami was incredible and Viewtiful Jow was wicked 2. I reckon this game will be awesome

before they have even played his game.

as samura said,platinum games used to work for capcom.and hideki kamiya was responsible for okami,viewtiful joe,resident evil 2,the fricken "CREATOR" of DEVIL MAY CRY,and you hear the little kiddies go "meh."

without hideki and his team making games like DMC,you would not have modern action games that copied his idea of "stylish action."

you would have no:

gungrave
van helsing
bujungai
ninja gaiden
ghost rider
spawn
blood will tell
castevania:lament of innocence
rygar on ps2
genji
i could go on and on on copy cat games using his style.

real fans of hideki kamiya and shinji makami....pretty much the WHOLE CLOVER STUDIOS TEAM,would welcome a new game from them.even the ones that hold so high a regard for GOD OF WAR,that game would not exist without kamiya starting it all off with RE2 and DMC.

.........little kiddies....give some respect.i look forward to bayonetta.you should too.hideki didn't do DMC 2,3 or 4.and it showed.capcom got lucky making DMC3 without him because they almost ruined the series with DMC2.

give us what you got hideki and platinum(clover studios).

I have no doubt dmc5 could be great and a return to the awesomeness of DMC3 , but it will pale compared to bayonetta .

Yeah it looks action packed. But why can't we have a game with a normal, adult, less comic-booky, male teenaged, hormone induced thematic? Everything has to be monsters, and powers and goblins and childish crap.

I really hope Heavy Rain's David Cage starts a trend where the majority of hardcore games will appeal to older audience cuz this fantasy around every corner garbage is getting old.

this isn't about what cage is trying to do.this is about keeping the action genre alive and the creator of the modern action games needs support since capcom dumped the whole team responsible for all their last generation hits.

i agree with you on the fact that games need to evolve.i looked forward to and bought flow(er),linger in the shadows,ico,SOTC,echochrome,ey etoy games and such.and this from a guy that is into contra,gunstar heroes,castevania,mega man,bionic commando,streets of rage,skies of arcadia,shenmue,etc.

but not all games have to be story driven.not all games have to be powerful graphically.truth be known,i'd play more 2D games if devs made more of them.like the remake of bionic commando:rearmed.

this is about supporting good developers.this is about supporting a great action developer like supporting john woo for action movies.if john woo got fired from his job and went to form a new company,would you support him?or people like james cameron of terminator 1,2 fame.

that's all this is.supporting great developers that made hits that now formed a new company.and the guy who started the stylish action craze.

just like i supported quantic dreams and them making indigo prophecy.and before that when they made OMIKRON:THE NOMAD SOUL that had david bowie in it..which i played on dreamcast even though it was on pc.(bet you didn't play that one?but you're a supporter huh?)

Isnt it how many adventures games have been so far ? I love already heavy rain , but aside from a few gameplay guirks , it aint some groundbreaking revolution neither . At least so far

And why even the comparison , and why shouldnt both genre be enjoyed for what it is ?

I love both mystery and mature themed adventures , and thrilling blockbuster action rides .

Rather play realistic urban based action games ? Well you got plenty fps as it is ... soon 3 max payne ... more than 4 gta games and it's clones ... 3 yakuza games , 2 shenmue and so forth ...

There's a thing called "Genre" look it up.

If someone feels like playing a shooter, they load up COD4, KZ2, Gears etc.
If someone feels like playing a racing game, they load up Forza, GT, etc.
If someone feels like playing an over the top action game, they load up DMC, God of War, now Bayonetta etc.
If someone feels like playing a mature themed different game, then they can look foward to Heavy Rain, Flower, etc.

What's so hard to understand? There's different genres for different people. If you don't like Bayonetta, then get out of the article and avoid it.

What trend?
There have been numerous games with matured, reality-grounded themes.
Max Payne? GTA (especially 4)?
I think you would be happier playing them.

Problem is that you can't go too over the top with these themes.
Devil May Cry, for example, would not be possible with a world based on reality.
As soon as you toss up an enemy with sword, you toss the feeling of reality out the window. It doesn't matter whether it's puppet-like devils or italian mobs.

Remember what David Cage did with Indigo Prophecy?
Don't tell me that wasn't fantasy.

Anyway, with intense action game like this, reality doesn't work well together.

some multi games just shut up everyone (except for the occasional of course gametrailers lame comparatives or dlc fights) .

I think it will be such case . DMC is DMC , Ninja gaiden is ninja gaiden , God of war is god of war ... and looks like a new serie will create itself a spot ... Bayonetta will be bayonetta ...

And any action fan would be a fool to have missed even a single one of those franchise .

people claim they loved okami.claimed they loved dmc or viewtiful joe.well then,what you are saying is that you loved the style of games this team made.if you don't support them,which is now platinum games,you aren't really a gamer.it's just that simple.

you don't have to like or buy bayonetta.just wish platinum games luck on their next game they are releasing and hope it does well.that's it.

Didnt know Bayonetta is coming from former CLOVER. Wow, count me in!!! the producers of okami and VJ.

I know they got the director of DMC (the first) and this game exude DMC style all over it. Fully over the top, ultra flashy, Bayonetta is Dante made female.

This game was totally off my radar, till I saw this trailer and knew this game is a CLOVER product. Best luck to them.

It looks like a DMC rip-off, with a female ridicilous looking main character! I cant take such games seriously, sorry! And those people made Okami (One on my favourite games last-gen). They should make a adventure game like Okami, after releasing this soulless DMC rip-off.

there is no rip off ..every action game goes over the top at some point ( ninja gaiden , god of war , devil may cry )

if you love DMC so much ,then you should give it a try before saying that this is a simple rip-off ... and if you don't love DMC , then i sugest you to go far far away from this action-gem

should have been. Clover was the reason why Capcom was at the top of their game last gen.

I had this game on my Radar for a very long time as well as Darksiders. Two multi-plat games that i am anticipating as much as other PS3 exclusives.

For those that don't like her attire. Put a sock in it. I think she is quite sexy.

Is this game really made by the people behind the first DMC?

If that is the case then I do have some faith that this game could actually be pretty good.

And as for Darksiders, I've been very interested in that game too. I'm not anticipating them as highly as I am games like infamous, uncharted 2 and gow3 but to be fair I know more about those games which is probably why. Still though I am pretty interested in them and if Bayonetta is made by the original DMC team then this game already has a fair bit of promise.

Hideki who is responsible for DMC is helming it. Also most of the clover studio staff went on to form platinum games which is the dev developing Byonetta.

I trust Hideki and clover staff. I am fairly sure that Byonetta will be the DMC of this gen. Yes the concept is outlandish but remember that people said the same thing about DMC. Bayonetta is going to rock.

Her sexiness aside... I can't find myself getting remotely excited about this game.

It just feels too rehashed. Though i could be wrong in my opinion (which this is only)DMC (first one) was very enjoyable for me and i loved it...

On the other hand the other three iterations just threw me off and instead of keeping the series interesting it seems all they did was add more monsters and ramp up the difficulty. I don't mind the difficulty; what i'm trying to say is that they just felt rushed and didn't have that special atmosphere that was in the first.

I'm not going to write Bayonetta off yet till i get a chance to play it myself, but it just doesn't excite me... Though maybe the witch does. (just a little)

Whether it's Sci-Fi, Sandbox, Fighting Genre, BEat em' Up.........I could care less. I just dont know why the "content" has to be catered to the overweight, ghouls and goblins lovers ALLLLLLL the time (yes I made a generalization).

It doesn't have to be a simulator. It can play just as wicked as Devil May Cry or Burnout. All I'm saying is.....why the craptastic dialogue, mystical creatures, and uber-corny scenarios. There are films which have mystical elements that you can still TAKE SERIOUSLY.

More games need to do this.

I feel that Bayonetta is going to show me just how incredible action videogames can be. There is no doubt that the 3D action genre is one of the most disappointing genres out there. Bayonetta looks to not only revitilize, but dominate the genre itself.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Bayonetta will be Game of the Year 2009!!

ever since devil may cry video game companies have failed to take the baton of innovation when it comes to this genre, only god of war truly innovated in this genre, and now hideki said himslef that his only true competition is god of war III, and he is aiming to beat them...

This trailer as good as it is, doesn't come close to displaying the awesomness of this game...

That trailer was way better then the last one and I will be keeping a eye on this on at E3. This is most likely gonna be a day one buy for me anyway but new info at E3 would be nice regardless.
