PlayStation @ E3 2009 - The Games

PlayStation LifeStyle writes, "In just over a week, PlayStation LifeStyle will be reporting live from the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). We've been trying to get a handle on the plethora of PlayStation games that will be on display from June 2 through June 4, and it's quite astounding. If you weren't excited about the prospect of new announcements for the PlayStation brand, what if we told you there will be over 75 unique PlayStation games on display - that we know about?! While many are multiplatform titles (though the best still appear to be Sony-exclusive), it is a large increase from last year's showing."

MS has been eerily quiet.

They either have nothing, or they got something so good that it's gonna blow people away.

Wizeguy216220d ago

That's right! M$ Has to have something big up its sleeves.. I have never seen them so quiet on the game front before. But Sony does have some great momentum!...

Christopher6220d ago

alongside White Knight Chronicles since it will be coming to the U.S. this fall.

trancefreak6220d ago

LOL Microsoft has some top secret area 51 type secrecy going on lolz.

They dont want to scare the competition so they'll be hush hush all year.

SaberEdge6220d ago

Oh dont worry, Microsoft is going to have a great showing.

Sony's sounds really good too. This e3 is going to rock.

KruLLit6220d ago

^^^^

Indeed. I hope that Nintendo will deliver as well.

DoucheVader6220d ago

Will step in with MS for a day to show off his MGS4 tattoo!

Kevin McCallister6220d ago

I think MS definitely has some tricks up their sleeves. These past couple of weeks going into E3, everything seems like it's been going perfectly for Sony. If just half of the rumors turn out to be true, Sony crushes the competition. I just don't think MS has been resting on their laurels this past year waiting for all this to happen. They have some things coming, but this year their major announcement can't simply be a multiplatform title.

WhittO6219d ago (Edited 6219d ago )

I think 95% certain that MS will have a HUGE announcement at E3, that will prob 'STEAL' the show, as they did last year.

But people forget Sony still had a great E3, they had a lot of games to show and loved the way they showed their stats and boring stuff using LBP - wasnt boring at all. Really they had the better conference and showing, but since MS had such a big announcement, as i said they "stole" the show.

This year i think it will be the same, MGS 360, i know noone believes me but its the only thing that could "steal" the show again, hopefully Sony has a few suprise announcements too.

If Sony release a FW update a few hours before the MS conference that includes in-game voice chat, LOADS more avatars, profile upgrade, faster in-game XMB etc then i think that would keep people buzzing about it, even if MS announce MGS, people will be like - "so look at what we have now" sort of thing lol...ok im rammbling, but hey would be a good move.

Willio6219d ago

I dont get it. What did MS do to "win" E3 last year? Why do people believe in them so much? What has MS done for you? Did they give you free xbox live or did you pay? All these questions with no answer except the last one was rhetorical.

E3, less than 10 days away.

I am gonna miss the PS.Blog meet up, my flight lands early Monday morning. :(

Once I land it's straight to the EA Press Conference, then Ubisoft.

trancefreak6220d ago (Edited 6220d ago )

How bout straight to the ps3 slim for some pics or is that on another day.

Edit I thin sonys on tues. Hey sev have fun I might go there and try to steal someones pass. chump some kid in the corner ya know

Christopher6220d ago

From my previous e3 events with IGN, there's a good karaoke bar called Brass Monkey off of Mariposa Avenue. It's likely to have more than a few of the people from E3 there each night, specifically the devs and pr people who couldn't get into the big parties. Just make sure if you go to pay cash, some of the waitresses don't know to handle credit card tabs all that great.

Antan6220d ago

Sev, if you get a chance to eat near the convention centre, and you happen to like steaks, i can heartily recommend Arnie Morton`s Steakhouse! Fabulous!

Sev6220d ago

@ Antan,

I didn't realize there was a Morton's Steakhouse nearby. I will definitely be going there. :)

Thanks for the tip!

raztad6220d ago

Why is Lost Planet 2 in the PS3 games list? Did I miss some announcement?

-EvoAnubis-6219d ago

That steakhouse is a favorite hang out of the IGN team, which is fitting as you should introduce yourself to them, Sev. They spoke of us on Podcast Beyond, but seemed to be unclear on who we were. Therefore an introduction seems fitting.

50CALheadshot6219d ago

are you gonna be live bloggin on your site?

Lucreto6219d ago

@raztad There was a playstation magazine stating it was confirmed for PS3 but I haven't seen or heard about it since.

Especially after the amazing TRICO reveal. So many good games coming out this year and into the next. After the high quality title that is Demon's Souls, I am looking forward to FROM SOFTWARE's next game.

Other than looking like that, why does anyone care about what she has to say about anything?

I don’t think I’ve ever quite experienced an unfinished game that was slapped together with duct tape and construction paper to be sold as a finished product, basically making you replay the same missions and include a story that clearly was missing so much of the plot, like I did with this game.

I’m actually shocked that it doesn’t get calls out for this more.

franwex95d ago

It did. But the gameplay loop is still pretty good.

More like people don't play these type of games on their phone normally and don't try them out. Not like the places where people do play these games haven't crushed those numbers easily.

How many people actually played more than an hour of the game or came close to finishing it on mobile is the real question. If people aren't playing the games to a point that is purposeful, then why try when a subscription that is behind a streaming service isn't a sign of success but just curiosity.

What if Netflix becomes ‘the Netflix of gaming?!’

Alek83138d ago

I downloaded it because I already have a Netflix sub.
I am not going to buy it for $40 or whatever it costs on Google Play.

I tried it out and will be sticking to the PC version, but it's not bad.

Having said that, this is the issues I see vs the PC version:
1. Greatly reduced texture resolution.
2. Massive downgrade ALL lighting quality (this includes water, shadows, etc).
3. Stutter and heat. Prolonged play leads to both.
On the plus side, we have:
4. This thing is like 6GB vs the 12 on Steam.

Great way to try the game, but not the best way to play it.

darthv72140d ago

Perhaps Netflix will make a RDR series now that ST is done with.

Lionsguard139d ago

A Netflix version of RDR?... Oh boy... I can't wait... /s

TheColbertinator139d ago

They should build a production that includes members behind the True Grit remake and Hell on Wheels from AMC. Both were perfect for wild west vibes.

gold_drake139d ago

but i doubt people ACTUALLY played it on smartphone vs tried it out.
