As Ultimulo said,they're porting over from 360 mainly.
The PS3's architecture is built differently,it's not designed to work in the same way a 360 is and it's suffering slightly because of it.
Think of what you're asking,for a port of a game designed perfectly for the 360 to run in the same way,yet look better on PS3.
It's not going to beat the 360 at its own game.
And yet we have exclusives built solely for a PS3 that are blowing away 360 exclusives and multiplatform games in the graphical department.
I think that this is proof enough that No,the companies who are making multiplatform games are not using it to its full potential,they're expecting the same code built on 360's to run just as great on PS3.
It's just not going to.

i have both systems and the MGS4 is way ahead of any other game on any other systems. period.

Also, the reason why the ps3 does not do so well with multiplats is simple, the ps3 is more complicated to develop for. It takes more people, more time, and more money to get games running on the ps3.

Its not becuase the 360 is more powerfull, otherwise the ps3 wouldnt have the best looking games. Its becuase devs have schedules, they need to get games out in a certain time or they run out of money. So they do the best they can with the ps3 version with the time and resources they have.

I like my 360, a lot. After taking a break from Halo for a year (more like divorce), we finally hooked back up when I bought another copy on Friday. I do have to say, after spoiling myself with Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Uncharted, and Metal Gear 4, Playstation Exclusives have won me over. First of all, the graphics of Killzone 2 are breathtaking. A friend (xbot) originally thought the opening show was pre-rendered they're so good. When it comes to Resistance 2, the sheer scope of the game got me. It starts with a bang and doesn't quit until the final bang (if you've beaten it you know what I mean).The detail to Uncharted is unparalleled,enough said, and the grand scale and epic presentation of snake's final adventure took me through a whole range of emotions that a game has never allowed me to feel before. When it comes to Gears 2 and Halo 3, quite frankly, the stories are completely forgettable and the graphics are dated, ESPECIALLY with Halo 3.I have not had an "Oh Sh!t moment at any time with those games, as I have with the PS3 exclusives. My personal experiences have led me down the path to say that not only does the PS3 have better graphics, but better games as well...

Killzone 2, Heavy Rain, GT5, Uncharted 1/2, Wipeout HD, MGS4, team ico projetc, Infamous, LBP and GOWIII are some games that should ashame MP developers when it comes to lightning, physics, graphics and animations all together.

I understand its easier to go from 360 to PS3 but devs doing the other way around prove that results are better and both versions are alike or even better on the PS3.

Developers don't have the time or resources to dig into the PS3's hardware, only the first party ones do, with the exception of kojima productions.

Killzone 2 could be made to run on the 360, it wouldn't have as good physics though, but it would have more detailed texture's. It's been a well known fact that ps3 has the superior CPU, while the 360 has the better GPU.

It's pointless to say that one is more powerful, overall, than another.
PS3's best graphical game was in developement for 4 years.
The 360's best looking game, GoW2, was in developement for 2 and used the ageing unreal engine.

Until a game is developed to take full advantage of the 360's capabilities, it's not fair to say the ps3 is more powerful and can run game's the 360 couldn't posssibly do.

To be honest i've being playing Infamous demo for awhile now, and the charcters on Infamous look alot better than GTA4. GTA4 cut scenes already look outdated. When u look at their hands. Look like blocks. And if you really want to compare GTA4 and Infamous wait until the game comes out. GTA4 just has more of a backing than Infamous. But I still think Infamous looks a little better.

PS3 exclusives are kicking the 360's ass this year unless MS has a few tricks up their sleeve.

Ps3 exclusives have some of the best graphics anywhere PC included, and the 360 has yet to produce something on par with what I've seen on the PS3.

I prefer Live to PSN, but free does have a nice ring to it.

When the price comes down on the PS3 I would love to own both consoles.

I have not given up on the 360, but I have to admit something is up when I find myself playing Peggle multiplayer on XBLA more than the other games I have.

I am looking forward to the multiplatform games that are coming out since the graphics on those are usually the same on both consoles, and sometimes better on the 360. If you dont care for the sony exclusives then the 360 is the cheapest way to go to play most of the current generations games, dont pay full price for live, search online there is someone selling a year of live for 40.00 dollars.

But whenever I see a PS3 in the window, there is a part of me that wants to buy and that pull is getting stronger and stronger with uncharted 2 and Trico.

We should not argue like fanboys both consoles offer something special, and we should all be so lucky to be able to afford both.

RAM. Plain and simple. Tons of foilage and The Shader fx are nothing special, dof(that's depth of field incase you didn't know) is done in alot of PS3 games and 360 games.

The PS3 is not more powerful than the 360. However, the First Party Devs are using the Cell architecture to their advantage in order to make awesome games.

The 360 is not more powerful than the PS3. However, it has plenty of potential left, potential that will likely never be tapped because Microsoft does not have enough resources, or First Party teams to create custom built engines to take full advantage of the 360 architecture.

My opinion is that even if the 360 was publicly and with certainty 3 times more powerful than the PS3, that power wouldn't matter because its never going to be realized. The PS3 is using its power and delivering great games like UC, UC2, KZ2, and what have you.

This is not a bash on hardware. Both the 360 and PS3 have very good hardware, but the companies behind them have very different intentions. I feel animosity towards Microsoft because although they provide a good experience, they still love money so much that every decision they make has money behind it. LIVE is a better experience but it costs money. If I had known in 06 what I realized recently, I would have gotten a PS3 long ago. This is no offense to 360 owners. It's a great machine, but I just feel regretful.

I like my PS3 but just recently purchased a 360. I like the 360 controller better. Can I get a bigger controller for my PS3. If so where? I'm 6'7" and sick of my hands cramping up. I've haven't had hand cramps like this since my old lady left me.

i just downloaded infamous from sony europe , without a doubt , gta4 has a better engine ! infamous is so jaggie ! vehicle models ? npc models ? infamous looked better on gametrailers cuz the video smooth out the edges but on a 1080p 120hz tv ? yuuuukkk . i hope anti aliasing is turned on for the retail version. oh and i have 3 1080p 120hz tv's all different models and checked all 3

Houser said the next gta is ps3 exclusive. The game is best played once, it's side missions were cut & there's still 40gb left on my bluray copy. Infamous isn't a gta killer. It's a crackdown killer & that game had 3 animations: jump, kick & shoot. Do you all remember how tiny that world was? CEL shaded. But for some strange reason crackdown was really freaking fun.
Why? Simplicity. Infamous is a ps3 exclusive & it means more to me than any of your lives because this game was made by sucker punch. Are you buggin?

All those that say that uncharted graphics > GEoW 2 are they correct? It's an opinion, whether the artist captivated you with his design or it might just be console bias. It doesn't mean you are correct.

I like MGS4 graphics more than KZ2. In fact I was extremely annoyed at KZ2's graphics and art direction. But I'm not going to sit here and say if you don't notice why this game is better then you suck!

Now the PS3 might be stronger than the Xbox 360. In reality I could care less. If a game comes out on either system that I think is good then I'm getting it.

And please before anyone starts, cryengine 3 is actually better coded then it's older brother. So when a newer games comes out for pc, it'll run better and look better.

After gazing at my collection of green game cases,I noticed I have alot of multiplatform games.
Most of them were judged as good or even better than the competitors system. You wanna argue that? Go ahead but this article gives examples of it and im sure you have read others.

That being said,why should I CARE what the potential of a PS3 is if 70% of the games on it (or more) make no use of it? Or worse yet are rushed together port jobs? 3rd party doesnt mean 3rd rate (but can often).
Im glad the PS3 has some in house titles that look good. I wish I could play Killzone 2. But theres plenty of Xbox exclusives too I would have missed out on had I bought a PS3.

When the PS3 first arrived, we all said it was more powerful.

"Well where's the proof?" the haters clamoured.

The proof has been piling up pretty much since Motorstorm came out, its just that the haters dont want to acknowledge it.

Suddenly the importance of graphics got downplayed. Graphic aren't everything they cried. True.

But why then, do they pick apart and disect every multiplatform game, which have minimal differences and are downgraded by the nature of the process, yet ignore blatently obvious proof like PS3 exclusive vs anyother game, be they exlusive to XB or multiplats. With Killzone, the graphical bombshell, all we had to compare it with was Crysis, a game requiring hardware twice the price of PS3 to run reasonably and even then, KZ is better in many areas.

I just think its funny they look for the tiniest difference in multiplats and ignore obvious ones in exclusives.

Halo 3 which came out in 2007, against a game that released two months ago. Right. The whole resolution fiasco with Halo at 640p? Love how everyone glosses over Bungie's response to that...

I do think Infamous look really great and lots of particle effects..however, GT4 does have alot of details. Car damage (if you shoot at the car you can see all the bullet holes. If u just slightly scrape your car against the wall you can see scrape marks right at the contact point. The driving physics were pretty good as well, each car actually feel different. Beside that, the weather effect were pretty good, you can actually see every drop of rain and how the ground actually have wet look when you drive. When it rains a lot more, you can actually see the water spurring behind the tires while driving. GT4 while doesn't look as great, but the subtle details that they incorporate into the game are amazing. I don't know how infamous story will be like, but for sure GT4 story is really good.

It is just me or RE5 looks better than KZ2 (character model is better while KZ has better gun model). RE5 texture is better and the ligthing in RE5 is no slouch either, although KZ2 may still have an edge over RE5 in the lighting. But i still think Fable 2 lighting is better, artistically speaking (no seriously, you guys haven't seen a sun set in a game until u play fable 2).

I guess a lot of you guys probably haven't even play any 360 games. looking at "Lou-Cipher", how far did you get with GT4, it does have boats and helicopters (probably not as much as San Andreas though)

Although i do think PS3 has a little bit more horse power, but the differences so far are pretty minimal. Each has their own strength and weakness. I haven't seen anything mind blowing on PS3 that the Sonyfanboy have been talking about.

But hey, graphic doesn't make good games. There are plenty of good games on both consoles. So what is the matter with Sonyfanboy trying to convert others to follow them? Are you guys turning into Jehova witness or something? Just enjoy your games guys. Same for x360 fanboy.

If anyone still doubts the PS3 is more powerful than XB, go to a friends house who has one, get him to put the Behind the Bullet Demo on for you.

That pretty much ends the debate on its own as far as I'm concerned. My XB nearly melted just from sitting next to my PS3 while that demo was playing.

PS3 is in last place so who cares what it is capable of.Tommorrow we can write a article of what the Dreamcast was capable of.Better hardware means nothing as long as people has games.The wii is a prime example its the weakest of the three and look where its at.Who cares what the PS3 is capable of. I have explained this exact issue in several posts. So if you REALLY want to understand why multiplat games are better on the 360, while exclusives seem to be better on the PS3 just take a look at at my old posts. Ignore my flamboyantly fanboyish posts, as i do that for fun.

The short and simple answer is that the PS3 REALLY isn't more powerful by all conclusive means. It simply has the ability to make single-core games look good using the Cell.

The guy who wrote this article, makes us 360 owners look bad. I don't know which console he favors, but his writing is very hard to read, and painfully simple. I almost feel stupid after reading his conclusions.

Due to time restrictions and it is easy to port games from 360 to PS3. If developers fully utilised the 25Gb of a single layer PS3 Blu-Ray disc. Dual layered Blu-Ray disc is 50Gb. 25 GB per layer of Blu-Ray disc.

The PS3 exclusives may look better in graphics than the 360 exclusives and the PS3 games store more data on a disc than 360 games. The sales of the big PS3 exclusive games have no way been as significant as the big 360 exclusive games. Multi-platform games sell in line with user bases of PS3 and X360.

Due to time and budget constraints over 2 and a half years we have seen glimpses of the PS3s potential. PS3 may not reach its full potential of its 120 frames per second, 4D graphics and 1080p natural resolution graphics.

There is still plenty of time left. 7 and a half years. 10 year PS3 plan is here to stay and would take most of that time for Sony to make enough money to break even on the PS3.

But the writer needs to pay more attention to consistency of language and grammatical elements.

The only reason why PS3 fanboys exist is due to the 360 fanboys, and to an extent, vice versa. It's happened before with Nintendo / Sega fanboys, and its ever since been laughed at...

360 is clearly inferior to the PS3 as a console, consider the last 6 months, and will be left behind eating dust in the next up coming year.

PS3 is just not as powerful as the 360, because 360 sells far more and therefore, has far more games available, so its a far better console if you just want to play video games.

If you feel any urge to disprove those points in order to justify and defend the fact that you blew 400$ on either console, you are a fanboy.

This gen hasn't been the best for games, last gen consoles are still out there and now there's been talk of the PS6 and Xbox Two for a year or so. Many games this gen will be ported to next gen and the cycle will continue. The re-release of the Neo Geo AES+, games on cartridge for £70 ($95), gaming is going back in time. Gaming has gone pricing mad with the high cost of games, consoles and controllers. The men and women at the top are clueless.

I miss the first three generations of PlayStation. The way they turned PS3 around, we knew they meant business. We were all worried for a bit there around launch. Eventually from 2008 they started shifting slowly. But since Yoshida was fired, it's never been the same. Still enjoy my PS5 daily. I got a backlog dating back to PS2 lol So I'm fine but new games aren't as appealing anymore.

It seems like we were thrown on to the worst timeline possible where everything is too expensive and the wrong people were put in positions that makes the world a shitty place. We could have had Shu as the head of PS but we got the shitty alternative. Same goes for everyone in power around the world. Doesn’t matter the company or country the majority of us got the shitty picks and the world is declining like never before. I do think PS can come out of this because of their studios, talent and IP but they need someone more in touch with gamers leading things like Shu was. They’re still the best place for console gaming imo but it could be much better than it is especially without the massive live service failures. The rest of the world I have a lot less hope for right now. Hopefully the pendulum swings back towards the good ole days but I’m preparing for the worst.
