There's really no comparing the two when they're in their respective stages of development. Maybe when CryEngine is fully finished for the console environment, and is actually applied to a game -- with this much going on no less -- will we be able to even begin to compare the two.

what we have seen is uncharted 2 INGAME footage which is unparalled suck it up and be quiet im tired of your tech demo footage of what can be,the same was said with the updated unreal 3 tech demo and it certainly never showed in gears 2, tech demos are 'WISHFUL THINKING' once you consider particle effects, A.I and others then that tech demo drastically reduces in real game footage,uncharted 2 has taken the rule book and shredded it,no go troll somewhere else like ----->

Until CryEngine is used in games, it holds no water. It's almost like saying Duke Nukem forever is the best FPS but we all know we won't see DNF for a while. By the time CryEngine 3 is used, probably 1-2 years down the line, it should be better than Uncharted 2 but until then it's nothing.

The Cryssis console demo looks no where near as good as crysis on PC.

from these early footage i agree that U2 is right up there with KZ2 now visually.

I played thru crysis at release on a PC that cost as much as a PS3. The graphics were not as good as MGS4.
Crysis graphical potential is like searching for a unicorn, (not worth the effort)

I can run Crysis at ultra with no problems, CryEngine 3, the videos I saw, are less graphical then CryEngine 2. Probably they modded CE2 for consoles.

I own crysis and on an overall quality level its NOT as impressive as the AAA ps3 stuff.

hes bringing up cryengine demo because it might be out on 360 and hes probably a 360 fanboy and cant stand the fact ps3 has the best looking game right now people. Them shots are from a tech demo I say to him if he wants to go that far look at FFVII tech demo mate... They could never make a FFVII remake looking that good on any console this gen its a tech demo mate if they added AI it would crawl to a snails pace you understand? Consoles couldn't handle that kind of intense graphical input within a game its just to show its power.

I'm very happy to see such great improvements in the visuals and otherwise. Uncharted 2 will be a true sequel. I was particularly amazed by the animation and new arsenal of moves. I think people tend to overlook these things in particular. The first game set a precedent in graphics but also animation and attention to detail. These things are what make the game so much more immersive to me. Uncharted 1 (and 2 presumably) play out like the best action movie made interactive and 3-4 times longer. Multiplayer is icing on the cake.

Crysis is on PC.

And the CryEngine 3 is on both Xbox 360/Playstation 3.

Clearly if you would reread his very first comment ( its the first one period ) he mentions the cryengine 3 demo for home consoles which hasnt been featured in a game on either home console yet, which is the point the most are making. Crysis on the pc is top notch, granted. But the cryengine3 for the consoles is a different story. Its nice looking also, but has yet to prove itself in an actual game yet. Although it may be a bit of a stretch to call him a 360fanboy, i can see how some would accuse of of being one.

And lets be honest here, this game is clearly the best looking game to come out on console that we have seen actual gameplay footage of. Period. Anything topping this has a lot to prove. Tachyon came off sounding like a really butt hurt fanboy, of what i dont know. pc i guess.

Anyway, T Nova is correct, Crysis looks better...BUT, those pictures are well...pictures. You simply cannot (currently) achieve that photo realistic detail in game. The frame rate goes to complete sh*t. Uncharted on the other hand has a constant (or atleast close to constant) framerate, which is playable in all situations.

Another thing is that Crysis has sup par animations for the game. The physics is awesome for the engine, trees getting blown up, falling over what not, it's awesome, but when you throw it all together, your computer dies, frames skip, animations look worse than they already are. And like someone else mentioned..this is $400 technology running uncharted..not a $1000-1300 PC...

Sorry bud, but anyone with both PS3 and PC can tell you Crysis is an ugly ass game. Having lots of polygons doesn't mean it looks pretty. It looks like crap, animations are crap, it's a generic art directionless game and I don't know why gaming sites are so afraid to admit it. They always say "on consoles." Well, I have both and I'm not afraid to say it: KILLZONE2 and UNCHARTED 2 look better than Crysis. I don't care how many polygons Crysis has, they LOOK better.

It's the same sh!t from the same people every year again and again. If UC2 looks that good to you all then fine, but personally I wasn't blown away and hope this gen can give us more than what's been shown so far.

I play Crysis on my Quad & 9600GT. Those shots posted above would create a slideshow on my machine, and even then, what's there ? A couple of plants and leaves. No people, no animation, no particles. Crysis is a sh!tty game compared to KZ2 or this now. Who ever has both knows that.

I hate that when people come here just cite all this magazine crap "well, Crysis on the PC". No, it doesn't. Crysis on a over stuffed over priced 800Watt sucking express heater, yeah, maybe. But, hey, there is always liquid nitrogen...

And, even then. Put them (Crysis and Uncharted2) side by side and pick up the controller. That cover system alone dwarfs any animation system in any other game (incl. KZ2) to non existence...

Firstly, trailers and tech demos of Crysis with full settings ran on hardware that people couldn't even obtain at the time of release in 2007. Or perhaps doubling up graphics cards and overclocking processors or wtevr with some cold freezing technique, check youtube. Very costly

Secondly, It's a PC lol. PC are never meant to be weaker than consoles. NEVER since it always evolves every 1.5 years, not every 5 years.

Also, CryEngine 3 is a gimped version of PC engine, the CryEngine 2. As many have stated above, it's tech demo only. It shows small scale samples of running footage, a bit like the dinosaur demo for Playstation 1, and omg, that dates back a like 12 years.

Yes Uncharted 2 rules over Crysis. People that say otherwise are not looking at the big picture. Look at the manner in which AI move in both titles. They look so stilted in Crysis. So...artificial. Whereas in Uncharted you get a human imitation. Very realistic. There isn't even a comparison in these three titles (include Uncharted 1 included) when discussing AI. The AI in Crysis is a joke. The only thing that distracted gamers from it was the boring aliens.

Add to that the fact that Crysis relies heavily upon a game where the player character is superhuman and he is fighting alines. It is always easier to design a title like that rather than one where you have to rely on a more realistic interaction with the world. Despite that Uncharted still owns Crysis. I won't even bother to discuss the frantic gunplay in Uncharted that owns the combat totally in Crysis.

Myultiplayer in Crysis - a ho hum fest will is already pwned thoroughly by the short glimpse we have seen from Uncharted 2.

If you are going to specialize in something do it right and do it better. Crysis is a joke in so many areas. Do I need to talk about the little realism that exists in that game? Hi tech? No. Start with the opening scene. Belly mounted reserves haven't been used on decent HALO rigs in over 20 years. Thermal is now taking center stage over night vision. Was that included? No. Don't make me keep ripping away at that game for other areas where it fell flat on it's face besides trying to stay in the ring with Uncharted.

I said in the pictures that were posted previously of Crysis, they look amazing, but in a practical sense, its no where near the level of Uncharted (I didn't say that specifically, but I implyed it by saying the Cry Engine 2 - 3 have horrible frame rate, animations, and ai when taking a load). I never said Uncharted was bad, on the contrary, the amount of animations, how fluid it transitions, not to mention the lack of model/animation clipping is outstanding. It looked like I was watching a cut scene the whole time. Now that is what I call Next Gen. I know crysis is great and all, but for a console to me nothing comes close. I bought my ps3 a couple of months ago and didn't like kilzone2 or mgs4, don't ask me why, I just didn't. This blows away any chance the 360 has to claim it is next gen. I can't wait until this comes out.

It's not just competing with itself! It's crazy, but it is actually starting to compete with high end PC's too.

I hope we'll see that eventually, when GG brings back some levels from the first game, preferable a jungle sequence.

For UC2, its still has a cartoony character. Its quite over painted and gives a bit of an "abstract" look, and I think the lightning, while superb, does not need to be that exact. I like UC2 art style. It has a reason why you would choose to go that way. It gives you some freedom. And the result is outstanding, IMO.
