It has that clean sci-fi look but they I can see how they are trying to make it a bit darker, this game is going to be a blast, can't wait.

Their Multiplat games don't push either consoles and certainly don't even try to think of pushing the PS3.

When I see this title I feel sad that all it's sequels will be are just like every other multiplat games - minor upgrades. I often think what this game could have been had it been a PS3 exclusive or just done with the PS3 cell architecture and Blu-ray in mind.

All those side mission planets would have been teaming with more life; creatures of many sorts; varying light, dust, weather particles to show off uniqueness in these different planets; more planetary explorations and these are just the side missions talk less of the main campaign.

I look at the significant jumps PS3 exclusive games with sequels have and I just feel sad for a game like this that may never see it's full potential cause of the limitations of the 360.

I'm not trying to poke fun at the 360, it's just the truth. Look at GeoW2 as an example. They had to change the colour pallet hue and also had to have a fog in the distance to keep upgrades in the fore ground running as best they could to give the illusion of a bigger better jump in graphics and it still had framerate issues.

And this is the best sequel to a 360 exclusive game to date. But you look at the PS3 and you see the obvious jumps in content, graphically and otherwise, with games like Motorstorm, Resistance, Uncharted etc. Can you even imagine the content of Killzone 3 in 2011? or the next GoW rendition after GoW3?

Men, this is the one game on the 360 that got me to legitly sit up and take notice but now it seems it's obviously coming to the PS3 but won't have the kind of attention or resources to make it like these PS3 exclusive games in their respective genres.

The game looks great to be sure.... but I can't help but notice the lack of any environmental detail. It looks like they had to sacrifice lack in detail to polish up what they DO show onscreen.

Lookin pretty good!

I hope they include several big cities in this one. Come to think of it I guess I didn't mind when playing the first one, but reading the above comments, I come to realize it would've been nice to have big cities spread over the galaxy other than Citadel Station. The majority of the planets of the first game could've used some more "life" to them.

This is actually (currently) the only game that I wish would come to the ps3, hopefully it does. But if not 360 owners should be excited for this one.

P.S: Not knocking the game but... do all 360 games look alike? When I look at halo 3, gears 2, and mass effect 2 all of them seem to look very similar. It's just a trend ive been noticing... weird.

This is gonna be the 100th time saying this.

Xenon consists of:
3x PPU @ 3.4ghz each

Cell consists of:
1 PPU @ 3.4ghz
8 SPE's @ 3.4ghz

They use practically the same PPU, but beyond that, they are completely different. The Xenon has dual threading, the cell doesn't.

Think of it this way.
Xenon: 3 guys, jack of all trades but master of none, working then uses 2 hands to hand off/take more of a load at once, or even taking with 1 hand and giving with the other. They all hand off work to each other to get stuff done.

Cell: 1 jack of all trades, 8 (7..in the case of the PS3) specialized workers in 1 field. Each doing work (at the same speed of the PPU) but using ONE hand to take and receive, it is slightly slower since you can't give and take at the same time.

Read disc error is correct. The correct term if your not building it yourself is just a pc. A "rig" is the proper term used when you're the one building it yourself. The fact that mommy and daddy are buying this kid a new pc probably didn't sit well with too many people.

I'm getting it for pc of course. But i'd imagine it'll be at least a year before it launches in our neck of the woods :(

aaahw, doubting they learned anything at all from the flaws that where in the first game? And dream on, I don't think ME2 will be releasing on PS3, it's one of MS exclusives that they definately want to keep, so a big $$$ to EA will do the trick, they need to.

Unreal engine means capped by default though. If you really expect Mass Effect to look better than Uncharted 2 on consoles than you're just fooling yourself. On PC it can happen but it's still the Unreal engine we're talking about.

As much as I like ME, I still want a proper KOTOR 3 as well. ME can't replace that. It's just not SW (and I'm sure it's not trying to be). Although, I'm not sure I could pick one over the other. Better to have both. :D

But who knows if Bioware will ever make one. I remember at some point reading Muzyka's musings about Bioware moving away from licensed material, specifically SW. Then they turn around and make a SW MMO so...wtf? Kooky.

i'm pretty sure bioware is in alpha stages of the new KOTOR (which will be an MMO). i had a friend who worked at EA tiburon and he got to game test it for a few weeks. he said it looked very promising

I've got news for all the PS3 fanboys that think MS/360 lost an exclusive when EA bought BioWare: EA doesn't/can't put every game they publish on every platform...that would be a myth. Where's SPORE for the 360/PS3? What about all of the Sims games? Crysis? L4D for the PS3? ALL of these games COULD have been ported to every platform imaginable...but they weren't. EA buying BioWare after the first ME does not translate to them being able to dismantle a contract between MS and BioWare. Mass Effect is for MS 360 and GFW....deal with it.

looks really good :) few minor niggles about the screenshots but thatd just be pickyto highlight them, looks awesome! Only concern I have is with the framerate. The trailer this came from showed it to slow down quite a bit sometimes, hopefully and probably will be ironed out by release. BTW does anyone know what engine their using? I hope its not the same as last time, got really fed up with the Huge loading sequences, texture popin slowdown and screentearing

I had a similar problem with Killzone 2 on "my PS3". Couldn't play it more than 10 minutes cause the controls were so frustratingly horrible and it got boring fast.

j/k but I see what you are trying to do.

Bioware has said that they will adress the glitches and loading times from the first one in ME 2. Mass Effect used Unreal Engine and it looked stunning so I guess ME 2 uses the updated version of UE3.

there was no reason to bring up killzone just as a counter example.

but, there is nothing realistic about the controls either. they have a lag, and they are covering up that lag with this bs claim of "realism."

and as far as killzone and realism go...what's realistic about a buncha steroided soldiers flying to a planet of glowy-eyed british people? and why are they using conventional weapons to fight a war on a worthless rock when they have mastered space travel?

nothing wrong with liking killzone, but don't be an apologist for it. the game has flaws just like a lot of other games. controller lag being the most apparent. an example of realistically weighted guns would be half life 2. the fact that you see the gun shifting based on the momentum of the player makes it real.

being slow to respond is bad programming.

Say what you want about Killzone but one fact remains that cannot be denied. It's the best No Auto game out that will test your skills.

Anyone who complains about Killzone controls just can't handle the fact that it much more difficult to aim because there is very little auto aim.

FYI: No lag for me but if that allows you to justify why the game is unplayable for you that's cool. You really can't compare this games like COD because COD is made to appeal to a whole different type of gamer, AKA Auto Aim gamers.

...Mass Effect didn't come out in the same year as Oblivion, how could it have beaten it for GOTY? you must know something i don't.... and it didn't win 70 GOTY awards either...

Diablo 3 isn't coming for home consoles correct (probably anyway.. Diablo DID come out for the PS1).. but where in Soda's comment does he mention platforms? he just said "Best RPG"- thus Diablo 3 counts

and the fact that your "sure" that ME will beat those games stands for sh!t... FF, Diablo, Elder Scrolls and Fallout are tough nuts to crack for a new IP like ME- and what about the other RPG's that are releasing next year.. ME2 has little chance of winning

And... your comment is worth more than mine? I mean you did say that Mass Effect 2 didn't stand a chance. Which means that you're sure it isn't going to win GoTY. Since you have obviously played TES V, ME 2, D3, Some stupid Fallout content, and know the scores before the reviewers themselves. So you can f*ck off for being a hypocritical bastard.

Mass Effect 2 has just as much of a chance of winning GoTY as any of those other games. And the reason is because none of them are even made. Let alone have no release date.

ME kills fallout but was not better than Oblivion seriously. Oblivion is one hell of a single player game and some of the side quests in Mass effect were lame. ME is so close to overtaking it they just need more cities more inhabited worlds more exploration the game was too small for how good it was and I won't start to flame the platform for its shortcomings because its obvious you have to curtail everything due to hardware limitations.

Final Fantasy is a name-brand now that Sakaguchi-san is gone, people who give awards are aware that FF is nothing but "SE JRPG" -- nothing more, nothing less. FF is __WAY__ past its prime, it is simply not as big a title as you think it is.

Mass Effect is, quiet simply, one of the Best RPG in many many years. It had depth and character beyond almost any RPG, mood, drama terrific action and gameplay mechanics.

I'm sure that the industry -- and gamers -- are paying very very close attention to what BioWare is going to deliver for ME2.

I think I'll be playing Blue Dragon 2 from Sakaguchi-san and leaving FF for the the fanboys.

i think i will have to finally upgrade my PC to play this. havent played on PC since 2004 (HL2)... i hope there will be a package deal for both ME1 and ME2 at some point.

Perhaps someone like Direct2Drive will offer some form of bundle (may even be on Steam by then) but I'd imagine they'll run offers when closing in on ME2s release. So you should be able to pick up the first game pretty cheap.

So, even if Mass Effect 2 is an small improvement over the first... it's still bigger than any PS3 game so far... sure as hell bigger than Kill Zone 2 which was not even on the NPD list this month... lol... gone and forgotten just like all other over hype PS3 games.

I am one of a very small minority that really thinks ME was overrated.. But I may try to give this a shot...I played the first for about 2 hours and I was done...did not like the framerate..the shooting mechanics seems very clumbsy..and the glitches where not really acceptable...

ME was release will into the lifespan of my 360...and the issues was unacceptable...kinda like Lair..and it's horrible controls(before patch) was unacceptable..

Are people already hating this game? Even though its not due for another year?!? Keep in mind that ME2 is still in Alpha status, tweaks are still being made. Casey hudson already stated in an interview with Gamespy that they have addressed the texture popin:

Mass Effect 2 is looking pretty good right now. Lighting and Combat looks very well improved. The new character models and enemies look fantastic, in the trailer, it looked like an enemy reloaded his gun so im guessing that is another adjustment BioWare made for combat. I anticipate ME2 more than any other game or RPG for that matter. It still amazes me how BioWare is handling ME2 like, they look at reviews, listen to its fans on their forums.... ME2 is a serious project for them.

I cant wait till E3 so we can see more of Mass Effect 2 and hopefully we will get to see another trailer and some actual gameplay. :]

Mass Effect uses a 70's style Sci-Fi movie type of filter over the graphics to give it a grainy effect. First thing I(and most others did) was turn it off.

With Forza 3, Halo ODST, Alan Wake, Splinter Cell Conviction, Mass Effect 2, APB, and third party powerhouses like COD MW2, Bioshock 2, Madden 2010, and Assassins Creed, and of course the announced exclusives at E3...I think the x360 is doing just fine...

Just for the record i do own a 360. The reason its not listed in my profile is that its still wrapped.
I bought a 360 at launch but sold it to friend when the PS3 came out. I bought another one 2 months ago because of the games i've mentioned and the fact that i got the acracde for 97 GBP @ amazon.co.uk with 3 games and 2 controllers. You may ask why its still wrapped... well i've played all big games like (Gears1-2, Mass Effect, Halo3 and even Halo Wars) at my friend and just now there isn't even one single game available i'm interested in for the 360. So i decided to wait for the three games i've mentioned above. That's the truth. Look at my comments you won't find anything fanboiish there. Yeah it's true the PS3 is my favorite console but i'm far away from beeing a fanboy or something similar.

MISLEADING! THESE AREN'T QUALITY IN-GAME PICS! Don't mistake these for good in-game pics. They were taken from a prelude-to-E3 ViDoc. Wait until we get screenshots from an actual running demo. Either way these are still nice, but what a terrible misleading article by GoOnline.

oh my god you are all so pathetic ive never played killzone 2 as i am a 360 owner but i can say it looks fantastic. mass efect for me is still one of the best looking games on the 360 but i didnt enjoy the game it was just to repetitive. the only reason people bad mouth games is because they are idiots same goes for the ps3 owners who say halo 3 is a bad game. anyone whos played nows its fantastic as is gears of war 1 and 2 and all you people who jump to defend killzone 2 are just feeding the fanbixxhs
