IGN Preview: Uncharted 2: Among Thieves

IGN: "Way, way back in February, I got to sit down and watch Uncharted 2: Among Thieves in action. Naughty Dog took Nathan Drake through a war torn city in Nepal, he fought militants who were pursuing him and he scaled a number of objects with handholds so precise it was hard to believe it wasn't an in-game movie. It was truly a sight to behold, but sadly, you weren't able to see such things. It was a closed door meeting."

if this is being shown now i cannot wait to see what they show next at E3..holy sh!t

CaseyRyback_CPO6213d ago

After seeing these feeds, thats just plain impressive.

ToastyMcNibbles6213d ago

i watched the 5 minute footage earlier when it was posted here on N4G with my buddies and let me tell you i was flippin out haha i had to pause the video in the middle of the truck chase at the beginning it was just overwhelming and i couldnt believe what i was watching..this is exactly the type of stuff i talked about months ago when ND was talking about pushing the PS3 100%...i always knew they would push the visuals but i knew when they meant 100% i knew they were gonna create stuff in the single player that would just blow our f@ckin minds...NAUGHTY GODS! inFAMOUS/Uncharted 2 Beta HERE I COME!

DasBunker6213d ago

i still gotta play uncharted.. too many great games and ive been hearing wonders about it..

thebudgetgamer6213d ago

and i dont want to play the new one before i play the old one.

:)

kaelix6213d ago

took me 3 or so days to get the platinum after purchasing it 3 weeks ago, it's a great game, you shouldn't deprive yourself in playing this good title

soljah6213d ago

guys this game looks unreal but just think
the god of war 3 stage demo at e3 might even be better.

hard to imagine but true

raztad6213d ago

GoW3 WILL be better not doubt about that. We are only witnessing the beginning (well MGS4 and KZ2 were the first graphic powerhouses) but every title will be upping the graphical bar so expect U2 to be readily trumped by GoW3 and then rinse and repeat. Is just amazing what is happening with the PS3.

MNicholas6213d ago

Incredible visuals. I hope they throw in 7.1 uncompressed audio as well.

40cal6213d ago

That is some of the highest quality game play I have seen in the 20+ years I've been gaming.

maxbyte6213d ago (Edited 6213d ago )

Was a strange experience for me. When I first played the demo I was like "OK. Looks nice, has cover system, does a Tomb Rider... boring. Will not buy this one." What a mistake that turned to be. My friend did not think so and got the game. He liked it even less than I did.
One day I decided to give the game a second chance. Man, I could not let go of the controller for days! This game is a MUST for every adventure/3rd person platform/shooter. Since then I go back to Uncharted1 regularly. The replay value of the game is terrific. Never gets boring. You can do things in many ways, always improving your skills and results. Who ever did not play the game, go get it!!! (now, in its platinum edition can probably be had for 10 EUR/$).
So, to say that I am eagerly expecting U2 is a gross understatement. I am biting my fingernails. I should freeze myself until release date ;)

Looks like they'll be giving away beta codes if you're not picking up infamous.

Bordel_19006213d ago

This game looks so incredibly impressive, everything is top quality, awesome animations all the way. Looks like the gameplay is just as amazing as the graphics, Naughty Dog are the bomb.

Major_Tom6213d ago

Looks like I'm getting another platinum.

redsquad6213d ago

Holy crap!
I keep thinking my gob can't be any more 'smacked' by UNCHARTED 2 footage, yet Naughty Dog continually deliver the goods.

And a scoped assult rifle? NICE!! The Dragunov was cool in the first game, but the limited ammo and rate of fire was a pain.

Uncharted 2 Is the Most Important PlayStation Exclusive of All Time

In a list of games that defined the PlayStation 3, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves would certainly be one of the top contenders. The blockbuster sequel to 2007’s Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune not only received critical acclaim and became a massive hit for Sony’s third console when it was released 15 years ago on October 13th, 2009, but it also cemented Naughty Dog’s future as a developer of cinematic, story-driven action-adventure games as opposed to its history of colorful platformers like Crash Bandicoot and Jak and Daxter from previous PlayStation generations. To this day, Uncharted 2 stands as one of the PS3’s best exclusives and one of the most important PlayStation games of all time.

it was pretty good. especially the multiplayer

KyRo558d ago

I loved this era on multiplayer games from Sony. People used to call the modes tacked on multiplayer but they were enjoyable. I loved Factions even more. I'm Still gutted that the second one isn't coming out.

-Foxtrot558d ago

Yeah, that one game where it not only has an amazing single player but the multiplayer was also just as good.

A fresh a breath air with it's more "skill focused, less is more" multiplayer in a time during COD fever where every other game with online was trying to be like it.

Shame NaughtyDog eventually did do COD like things with Uncharted 3 and 4, they ruined what made the original so good. It become an over the top arcade fest in the end.

Inverno558d ago

Ironic cause the MP was basically Halo, and Bungie helped on the technical side of things too. MP was more simple back then, I've said this before but I played U2 MP religiously. I sucked at it like you have no idea, but mah gawd did I have so much fun. Can't find an MP game that hooked me like U2s these days. Then Factions came along and while it had its problem I found new religion with it. Agh damn it why did they cancel Factions 2 bruhh.

gold_drake558d ago

i had so much fun too, played almost every night with mates or cousins baha

Relientk77558d ago

It is for sure my favorite game in the series. It's such a blast to play. The train levels still hold up and are fun as hell as well as the entire game.

RaidenBlack558d ago (Edited 558d ago )

Still remember the first gameplay video ... shooting the chasing truck and then the beautiful visuals & details whilst traversing the dilapidated Nepal streets ... perfection
Too bad Sony never ported the trilogy to PC ...

RaiderNation558d ago

I would argue it's God of War.

darthv72558d ago

I'll say, the PS3 really did sequels better than people give it credit for. Resistance 2, Uncharted 2, Motorstorm Pacific Rift, Infamous 2... all were better than their initial offerings and still hold up to this day.
