PS2 sales definitely got a strong boost from the price cut. Amazing how strong it's going after so long.

Pachter had the ratios between the consoles about right, but they all sold about 30% less than he estimated. The video game industry just isn't doing as well this year as he gave it credit for.

If those figures are correct...the PSP, PS3 and Wii really took a hit. 360 dropped slightly but the DS exploded. Makes you wonder how many of those DS numbers are dsi? I know I contributed to that huge number.

Also its worth noting that all 3 360 sku's do not cost $200, lol theres even 1 thats $400(no shii really there is) and it sells pretty well too and some might suggest the Arcade sells the least among them.

I can promise you that Sony is very happy to keep on selling PS2s. Even with the pricecut I'm sure the overall profit is nice. All of the arguments for buying a 360 are seriously multiplied when applied to the PS2.

As I say every month, the 360 is hardly outselling the PS3 by a large enough margin.

But man, you can see the recession clearly in these numbers. Quality of hardware is diametrically opposed to their sales, which means people don't really care about anything but price right now.

how Sony fans continue to flip info. When NPD numbers are not around, we will hear how the 360 is the most expensive console when you add in live and wifi......then when the NPD numbers are released, we hear how the 360 is $200 dollars cheaper. To every one laughing at the PS2 almost out selling the 360 it did out sell the PS3, which is pretty messed up. You can say it is an accomplishment at such a high price yet that is not helping developers. This puts the PS3 in a bad place. It is not enough to replace PC gaming laptop or tower wise and it can not hope to out sell console that have console prices. Blu ray is just not catching fire just yet. There is a recession also. On top of all of this SONY does not have the 1st parties to pull a WOW or halo game that lots of HC gamers will flock to.

It's great to see gamers stick behind them though. It would suck to loose sony right now. Having another HD system out there really has helped revenue for HD games. I hope sony also gets a chance to make good on what they wanted or what ken wanted the cell to truly be.

Another thing is you guys need to watch Nvidia, they are money hungry right now. Intel is rumored to be in the next PS also and they just got fined 1.6 billion. IBM is fine though. I bring all of this up because it was the xbox's 1's lack of a price drop that made it stay under the GC for a while when it should have done much better simply based on 3rd party support, which the GC had hardly any.

Again, I welcome you to show figures that say that 30% of the 360s sold are from people replacing a RROD. Help me out..I am having a hard time grasping why 30% of the 360 user population would go pay for a 360 when they pretty much had over 3 years to replace it for free......and even then, the cost of repairs comes out significantly cheaper than would it would cost to purchase a new 360.

You also have to take into account how many more 360's would sell with more reliable hardware.

If it weren't for RROD, the 360 could have very well been where the Wii is right now (at least more competitive with it).
