On September 9th, 2008 Microsoft announced that it was closing Ensemble's doors after the release of Halo Wars. Since its closure in February 2009, not one but four development studios have risen, all comprising of ex-employees of the now defunct studio.
CuriousOnion.com list the new studios as well as what they do and who started them.

FuRuy has opened a Twitter account called “Project Alice” teasing a new game announcement on April 25 at 20:30 JST.

New report from Skillsearch found that 22% of those surveyed had been laid off within the past 12 months.

It's a step forward for Stop Killing Games.
It is nice to see that Ensemble's closure was not for the worst (hopefully). I do have a question that was not addressed in the article. Are they under Microsoft? I know that the Robot Entertainment said they were still going to work with Microsoft Game Studios to release new content for Halo Wars.
I am going to keep tabs on these new studios, they have a lot of talent disbursed between the four of them.
