COD:WAW was ok, for being in WW2. I think I am just worn out on all the WWII shooters I have played over the year. If they did a modernish era, even veitnam or the 90's gulf storm war, it would be cool. They need to modernize a little, I am getting tired of using dated and ancient weapons, especially going from the mp5 in COD4 to the thompson, it is frustrating.

I think that Call of duty is actually a product that they harvested from an alien space ship that once crashed on earth.

They harvested like 50 Call of duty titles from a spaceship its board computer.
Now they spend each year, replacing the alien models with human ones, so they can release a new title.

of course they are. if it's coming out 4quarter next year. when do people expect them to have started. hopefully they started as soon as W@W went gold.

I'm just curious why nobody on this site criticizes or says anything about them milking this game. If they keep going at this rate they will pass up Metal Gear in just 7 more years.

I really like WAW a lot. I had a blast playing through it. A title each year is fine by me!

Just like they do with all of their franchises. They're one of my least favorite developers along with Bethesda.

maybe i'll be wrong (i hope so) but i expect mw2 to start showing it's age with the cod4 engine later this year so Treyarch really need to get a new engine sorted out.

I don't really mind too much. IW are better developers than Treyarch imo and well COD is IW's franchise, but i still like the idea of having a COD each year, even if it just means Treyarchs entry is just something to fill the gap. I mean it seems like only yesterday that we were playing COD4 (well most still play it) but then here we are not far away from Mw2 (and it will have been 2 years)

If they keep doing this, the series won't last aslong. It will eventually just get old for everyone.

Of course they are. CoD is one of Activision's biggest cash cows. CoD will go the way of Medal of Honor. Too many titles, not enough uniqueness will make the series stale and gamers will move on to something else.

shouldn't put out a call of duty every other year, if this was a sports game and they needed to update the line-up every season i would understand. i think they should let only infinity ward to work on call of duty series and let treyarch work on a new ip, and i bet the games would be better if the developers werent working on a 2 year deadline, i believe giving them 2 to 3 years is much better and let the devs decide when the game is ready.

Its great this way. Both kinds of gamers get to experience different timelines. I thank activison for this.

take a look a Dante's Inferno. That's just one though, but it SHOULD be just one. God of War is a game that should not be cloned because every game that tries just falls short of the God of War awesomeness. I personally love FPS's. I'll only buy 1-2 FPS's a year though. Though this year it looks like 3. Killzone 2, M.A.G., and MW:2.

can they make a true sequel in terms of the game's quality to the series before releasing it? I'm sick of them releasing a COD title each year without investing enough time and money into developing the game.Ofcoz,some fanboys are willing to buy each COD title no matter how lame it is and claim graphics aren't the most important element of a game,but that is really encouraging IW to release the same thing over and over again.Now,the only difference between each COD title is their stories in SP.

I'm glad for the warning ahead of time. After getting sucked into buying COD5 WaW by my idiot friends, I think I'll avoid the next Treyarch release like the plague. Every time Infinity Ward makes a new one, the series takes two steps forward, just so Treyarch can take it one step back the following year. It didn't take long for most of the people I know to go right back to Modern Warfare. I'm amazed at how with the same engine, Treyarch managed to make the game look worse. The guns were so unbalanced that it made the game a joke. Although MW didn't have perfect weapon balance, it wasn't nearly as bad as WaW. You really didn't need anything but a sub-machine gun to play most of the online maps. I'm not saying they did everything wrong, but it paled in comparison to MW.

They are now two seperate franchises.

its more involving. And i feel it works great for RPG's like oblivion and fallout.

I just wish we had more genres using first person and not just shooters andf the occassional RPG from Bethesda...

treyarch is doing good job making these games ... WaW was fun and frantic... and the nazi zombies mode was pure brilliance... i just got to wave 18 this morning ... anyway... the frequency of these titles is activisions fault they need to slow them down...

I'm getting pretty COD fatigued, I really started noticing it with WaW, despite the new environments and everything it still felt like COD. Don't get me wrong the franchise is great and all but I think I need a break. Maybe by the time MW 2 comes out I will be ready for more COD?

If it isn't the umpteenth rendition of WW2 then it might interest me depending on whatever else is released around the same time.

The COD series has killed the WW2 type shooters for me, apart from Resistance which is set in a completely alternate setting.

Pretty sure that after they finish CoD they work right on the next one so there is more than a year of development and I am pretty sure they improve on their game engines as they go along (or at least infinity ward does). However I think that they should just drop studio and stick w/ infinity ward. Seeing CoD every year does wear out the franchise especially if 1 is going to be a rehash of another every other year with a worse theme.

I'm starting to get sick of them. And I think Infinity Ward has put the Title "Call of Duty" back on Modern Warfare 2. So they are still the same franchise.

people need to quit praising cod so they can stop makeing 1 game a year with little or no improvements. at most ill buy the game used for under 30 if I ever by anothere. there is just to many better and different gfames comeing out for me to spend 60 on anothere cod game. It would have to use the power of the celll and blueray for me to get another for 60.

Give Treyarch credit; they're like the ugly brother of the COD series. They get pushed aside whenever Infinity Ward is strutting around, but no one gives credit to Treyarch for developing a game for five platforms in 10 months. That's just fricking godly. That's like 2 months per SKU. Give Treyarch 24 months on an exclusive game and they will blow your mind.

COD is an old washed out boring series. I feel sorry for COD addicts. I used to be like you. Just playing COD4 and nothing else. But I learned there was so many other good games. Like MGO for example. Very good game. Much better then any COD game. COD games generally are just big grenade fests.

When I think remake I think franchises that have no sequels.

I would love for Snatcher, Policenauts and Blade Runner to be fully remade as a mod running within the Cyberpunk 2077 game. Then at the end all three protagonists come together to take on Thanos.
