Friendly Engadget.com tipster Evan M wasn't too stoked to see an Xbox 360 Elite headed for store shelves after he'd just purchased a Premium 360, especially considering the fact that his TV has a whole HDMI port twiddling its thumbs, just waiting to get its game on. After informing Microsoft of his displeasure through a politely worded email, Evan claims to have received a slightly encouraging response from a Microsoft support person, promising an upcoming HDMI to component adapter for the 'box to make his situation perhaps a bit more bearable. Unfortunately, the support person also mentioned that "we do not have information as of the moment if the cable will be sold separately," which might mean such an adapter is only destined for sales with some sort of updated Premium SKU, at least for the immediate future.

i don't see the point
the point is that a lot of people don't know much about the specs of hdmi, and are under the impression that it is going to give you a better picture than component, so now microsoft has to deal with a lot of uninformed people who are pretty angry. the only advantage that hdmi is going to give you, in the case of the 360, is for tvs that accept 1080p through hdmi but not through component, which there are not that many of. tvs that accept 1080p through hdmi only really started to see the market last spring (other than the hp tv that came out in november or december of 2005, which beat everyone to the market with that feature), and there are not that many of them that only accept it through hdmi. hdmi is going to make a difference if you have an all digital signal... which isn't how the 360 works.
You don't see the point? Where were you when all the SOny fanboys where flaming microsoft from screwing people that bought the premium or the other SKU and wanted HDMI. It was only obvious for microsoft to sell the HDMI adapter seperate hence enforcing what they keep saying, "It's all about options". If this is true, that the HDMI cable will be sold separate, all the flame most of you being buring around here about not having HDMI capability with the current SKU will turn back and bite you. In other words, current xbox 360 owners will be able to upgrade to new SKU specs.
power of Green, don't feel that bad. you are not alone in this department. I will soon endup with one bubble. People don't like hearing others opinion and this sites give them the features to stop people from doing it. Once I hit one bubble I will probably will stick to joystiq or kotaku. Tip: Sony fanboys continue to remove my bubbles. I think I do need a brake from all the fanboyism going on here and how this site was taken over by Sony fanboys. Or at least they are the only one on the remove people from giving their opinion. The bubble system was designed to combat people that disrespecfully give their opion by isulting over and over without any reason and have nothing to contribute to an article. And it's being used to shut anyone from saying anything against Sony. I will give you a possitive feeback but I don't think it will help, considering the number of fanboys around.
Theres not suppose to be a point its possibly a fictional tale about all 360 owners being able "some how" to use HDMI if they have a HDTV with an extra port.
I was up to 3 bubbles last night and my bubbles have been back and forth from 1 to 2 five times in two days i have Sony fanboys actively hunting me down to report my comments as spam even though there on topic and are not personal attacks, after all, they're just my opinions. Skip my post or ignor me if you hate me but stop with the malice driven attacks.
An adaptor wouldn't have anything to do with anything other than the universal port in back of the 360.
If your TV component inputs are used up and you have an extra unused HDMI port. This has nothing to do with the change of quality or anything.
