i thought the first red steel was crappy and felt really rushed
but from this trailer alone i gotta say NICE!! looks pretty good graphics wise but what i like the most is the new look something about it just looks more fun

who think that swinging things like that while playing a game is stupid? I think it's just me because 50+ million people with the Wii will not agree! but I got sweaty rather quickly for me to waggle things like that while not having an air-conditioned room! I'm sticking with traditional gaming for now and maybe I'll get a Wii later when I get old! haha...

This game won't be the greatest Wii shooter ever (OK, maybe) but it will still be good.

Remember KZ1. It averaged a 60-70 (just like Red Steel 1) Killzone 2 ranged through the 70s through 90s. The same thing can happen to Red Steel. Especially with the tools they are working with.

They sure made it look fun. I really want to like this game, but after being burned by the first one, I need to see and hear alot more good things about it before I let my guard down.

where's the blood? If i'm getting a game withfps swordplay then i wanna be dismembering someone. If this comes out with that kindof gameplay without gore then i'm out. Give me a game sword with a 1:1 movement ratio and i'd better be able to slice mofos in half if i want to. That's just how i roll. Not quite convinced yet, show me more ubi.

I agree with you (I also think Ninja Gaiden 2004 and Devil May Cry should be ported to the Wii for the motion controls, especially MotionPlus). I want to see some type of blood. No gore (T-rating, remember) but some sort of blood.

And some good DLC.

Got bit by the first game. I'll be seeing how well M+ works elsewhere before feeding Ubi any more cash for Wii games(got to be , alongside Capcom, worst Wii milking, port dealing devs this gen)but it looks pretty sharp.

I feel sorry for the guy in the advert. Imagine what a tool he felt in a room full of other blokes with a director yelling "more BADASSS!!" at him when he's stood there with a Wiimote. What does he get, aside from paid a little, for his pain? Further humiliation every time it's aired-I hope he really needed the cash, it's the only reason to do that.
I loved a few ideas in the first game(the dojo hub would've been cool for rpg style levelling up on your skills if it had worked- among others)and I think if M+ really works then the move to less shooting will prove a winner as 1:1 swordfights are what'll be missing even by the time this drops from Wii's library.

wii is the first system where they want to show the people playing the game because it's more then them sitting like zombies twiddling their thumbs. I'm not sure if you've noticed but there are quite a few wii games that get advertised showing the people doing the actions involved. It's the nature of selling wii games these days. Remember the sonic and the secret rings commercial where they show more of the people playing then the actual game?

I think Red Steel 2 trailer is 10 times better than than Red Steel 1 trailer.

It looks really promising, but it is only a trailer, a highly art directed, tightly controlled trailer from ubi, showing the game at it's best (so far) It's sparked my interested in the game, but I will definitely be looking to read some reviews before I pick up this game, as I do with every other game.

Judging a game by it's trailer and trailer alone is like reading only the back of a game box before buying a game! of course it's going to sing the game praises and make it look / sound as awesome as possible, but a clever buyer will always look else where for reviews and ratings.

In what way are they that different? Other than the trailers for the first actually having the courtesy to not feature non-gameplay game footage, I mean.

If one looks at the 33 second mark, the implication of Red Steel 2's trailer is that there will be moments where the player is fighting from a reversed third-person perspective while the camera rotates around the character for maximum dramatic effect. One only hopes that that part is a concept cinematic or a cutscene and not authentic gameplay footage.

i dont understand ur reply, are u telling me its CGI or not? Are u telling me its in game, cause if it is then that looks a little too good to be true. And Id like to know if this game is on rails, cause that could also explain the great graphics. Im not trying to be a hater, it just seemed too fluid to be in game.

It does look almost too good to be true, I hope it isn't on rails! or CGI.

Possibly the art style hides the fact that the textures are low res & low detail? The character models are highly detailed (for wii) but the rest is quite minimal.

It's not CG that is the real deal. It looks so good because of the lighting direction also. This is what happens when artist are pushed to do some thing with less rather than pure force like in HD games.

Also the hand motions was very on point! The quick time event for the block would be a very new touch that would add to this game being bada$$ me and many other will have to steak that part for sure! That is just too cool and very easy to do.

I knew it would take a few tries and we would get to this level but ubisoft has beat a lot of us to the punch and I have to give them props for such a great game. I hope it is demoed at E3 I will have to try these guys out!

wow I'm speechless at the love and hate for this game.

the art-style is the best of any slasher game ever.
If the controls hold-up it will be the best slasher ever.

and answer for Firebat above: there's no blood, they left it out: they gotta get at least a T rating.

Ok Redsteel 1 sucked but this might be the game that Nintendo/Wiimote Haters are dreading, Nintendo's 3rd party Lineup has matured a lot since release.

It just depends on how you present the blood, if you go killbill yeah i guess its overkill.
But if you meant they need to get a T because its on Nintendo then you are off.

But then T does speak to a bigger audience(including " mature " peeps)

The art is so cool they don't need blood! All of the blood on screen is sort of lame some times also. I just feel like it's trying to make up for some thing? This game looks so great in motion and the concept shown are very strong! Auto melee mode? That would be sweet!

if you watch the "HD" version of that youtube video, you can't really tell wether its ingame or CGI, lots of objects still take simple forms and simple texturing.

Butwhatever, hope the precious is really there and using the sword more than the gun would be awesome.

Visually impressive, but the trailer showed very little of the actual swordplay, so it is hard to say how close to 1:1 and how responsive it will be.

There were a few brief seconds of the knife moving, and those motions looked like something other than simple preset "waggle" movements, but it is hard to say.

I want more information before I decide how I feel about this game.

You will need to play this game to know those things. It may be shown at E3 this year if so it's going to be 2006 all over again. I mean when I think about it the motion+ almost seems like the Wii2 in my eyes, and yes it is that good. If we keep getting games like this it will be easier to try and get publisher to back the Wii games more now.

As for the trailer itself, why do people think that is CGI? Looks in game to me, that is what great art direction and smooth (60fps) animation can do. I am really looking forward to this game and specifically WM+. I think WM+ will start the "flood" much like what happened to the DS.

It was said before, once third parties show up on the Wii, its over.

This is really cool to see but I also wonder if SONY and MS will finally bring this our for their systems because we would love to use motion controls in HD games too, developers. The funny thing is the hardcore did buy the Wii in the beginning and the lack of 1:1 is what really turned them off. You can see it in their comments yet once the right games start coming the hardcore will jump ship they always have.

At the end of the day they just want cool games, RS2 seems to be a cool game. I mean just from what they have shown so far I'm impressed and ready to rally the troops! The 3rd parties stand to make things a lot easier for them selves by getting behind the Wii. Lots of HD artist need to be broken into gaming also. HD spec budgets are ruining their vision because it causes them to over do the design just to get to cool. Gears of war is one of the biggest victims of this.

I'm also seeing why DM would not work in this game right now. If they are using lots of camera cuts during game play that would rule out split screen and online play a little. It would be possible but it would leave lots of room for lag glitches.

I still can't believe people think this is pre-rendered LOL. The tech here is below res evil 4 texture wise and there is no normal mapping LOL. This is a step above NMH yet the art is a little more focused. NMH also does not have the money to produce there own engine as ubi does thanks to all those mini games LOL.

AT AROUND :29 YOU SEE THE MOTION PLUS IN ACTION. The Wii could not do that motion with out it. Also the polygon counts are around res evil 4 levels yet the art is just more stylized. I remember developers claiming to be able to make games almost with out textures and they wanted to use mostly lighting to make the details of the game, well here is an example of it.

It's very obvious they got a new group working on this game. The developers are obviously hardcore gamers. Seriously the lighting is what makes this so cool along with the art design. The Wii is very capable of this lighting style. What is funny is the game may still be able to use normal mapping if they figure it out, yet it's not really needed right now.

To do a pre-render so close to E# is retarded LOL. Also please go back and look at killer seven and realize that the Wii has way better lighting specs along with texture ram.

What I'm really surprised at is how people really like the art style of this game and how they made such a hardcore seemingly playing game out of so little, in a time where over detailing gets you a development deal and HD fans. It's nice to see we still have video game lovers still in the industry.

I have played a fair number of the Wii's sword slashing games, and they all had the same single problem. You can't turn your wrist when you swing or the motion won't be read properly. But, in this trailer if you watch carefully between 56-58secs you an see the on screen character turning his wrist just like the player/ Assuming he's actually playing the game. Either way I'm sold, bring on some Red Steel 2.
