Capcom not remaking Resident Evil 3 for Wii

TGS writes:
Last night, Resident evil fans got a glimmer of hope that a remake or re-release of Resident Evil 3: Nemesis was heading to Wii.

According to Capcoms Press Site, Resident Evil 3 was listed as coming to Wii along side the confirmed title 'The Darkside chronicles'.
However, those with access to the Capcom press site will be able to tell you this listing includes artwork from the original Resident Evil remake coming to Wii.

Christian Svensson from Capcom has also denined the rumours of a re-release of Resident Evil 3:
"It's either a shop or a typo. False rumor."

Kinda figured that. Remakes seem to be on the bottom, if not non-existent on big developers list today. But its still nice to see small in-house developers still caring about what the gaming public wants, i.e. SF2HD and that new turtles in time remake.

I highly doubt these remakes or what ever you want to call them actually do well on the Wii in comparison to the 360/PS3. I bet RE5 in North America alone last month outsold the Wii ports/remakes, etc.

By all means make it on the Wii but why ignore other consoles that have owners who buy RE in droves?

raiden_936223d ago

There are some good examples of 'wiimakes' that have gone on to do quite well. Resident Evil 4 wii edition being a prime choice.

Then again there are plenty of other worse examples: Okami, Dead Rising, the list goes on.

I'm interested to see how well the Metroid Prime ports do on the Wii. In my opinion they're all priced way to high for old ports.

DrRobotnik6223d ago (Edited 6223d ago )

Those weren't remakes, they were just ports with wii controls added.

EDIT: oh I see you did say ports. My bad.

RE2 would be one of them, but on the PS3/360 and the Wii too if needed. I think a remake of that game would be in the cards before part 3. Although we all love running away from Nemesis!

raiden_936223d ago

True, RE2 and even though i'd hate to admit it, Final Fantasy 7 would be VERY successful remakes.

DrRobotnik6223d ago (Edited 6223d ago )

It would be nice to see a Dino Crisis 1 remake too. Every time you got injured and started bleeding, the raptors would smell you, there was no place to hide. It was awesome.

ceedubya96223d ago (Edited 6223d ago )

I think in the case of Dino Crisis, they could just go ahead and make a completely new game, but in the same style of DC1. Man, in most cases, those Raptors were a lot more frightening than zombies.

The_Devil_Hunter6223d ago

Aww man its been a while I havent seen Dino crisis.
But even so I want DMC5 first. Hopefully its actually as good as the first one though. None of that DMC4 cr@p.

Title's wrong. It should be "Capcom apparently not YET remaking RE3 for Wii"

this is why i hate capcom

Elven66223d ago

lol true, this is the first time in a long time where Capcom has been so successful, they're going to ride this train all the way to the end.

I feel like they should have included the original games with the remakes they've been doing.
