3D Gaming: Interesting or Unnecessary?

"Today it was announced that Resident Evil 5 will launch for the PC this summer. Not only that, but it will do so supporting NVIDIA's new GeForce 3D vision technology, a 3D video capability requiring you to actually own a pair of those snappy spectacles and wear them while you play. While a 3D Jill Valentine does sound intriguing... is it really?"

wii motion control was also a good idea but personally i think it sucked, even if it was accurate, i hope gaming never changes, just a control with buttons, when i wanna relax and blow some people away all i need is a control, and besides, flailing about with a wii-mote etc only takes away from the immersion.

"i hope gaming never changes"

You know, when nintendo announced the multi button layout with the SNES release, many gamers said that, the NES controller had a two button layout and was enough for the games of that era, I lived that era, and guess what... you are playing with a multi button layout.

"flailing about with a wii-mote etc only takes away from the immersion."

It's the first console with that idea, and it wouldn't be the last one.

Saying "I hope gaming never change" then you are saying that gaming needs to stay the in the same and same once and over again and disappear for the lack of new ideas, gaming evolves thanks for the "small" innovations, arcades were the only way of gaming because PC was way too expensive back then, but the new consoles surpassed the power of the arcades and now the power of the average PCs.

It's evolution baby

3D has to be examined. It certainly cannot be brushed aside. There was early criticism on a great many break throughs - hardware graphics acceleration, environmental and positional sound, 32 bit color - yet they became industry standards.

gambare6239d ago

nope, it's "interesting" but we need to see how the devs will use it.

it could be great but bad at the same time

It's only good for a short time playing, like once in a while, but most of the time I dont think I feel like wearing that 3D glasses.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing32d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit32d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing32d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9232d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
