MGS4 didn't get lots of 360 owners to buy a PS3 simply because 360 owners don't like those slow types of games. They want stuff like Gears and Halo and Killzone. You can't compare MGS4 to a FPS anyway. Plus then you have the fanboys who would never convert saying MGS4 is more movie than game and it sucks and blah blah blah.

If that was for me mate yes I have played it, I am not saying it is a bad game, just not in line with the hype, but to be fair I never got to play online which is a biggie considering that single player FPS just don't do it for me anymore, no pun intended but co-op makes a difference, I have said before that I would like a PS3 but somtimes the hype puts me off, I certainly have not seen anything on the PS3 that makes me want to sell my 360.

Killzone is a very polished and effective FPS, one of my favourites to be honest and well worthy of the plaudits it has received. Some people may not have been impressed by it and thats their right, I can only hope that they have played the game all the way through before deciding to abuse it.
I have never played either Halo or Gears of War (I dont own an Xbox) so I would never comment on either, regardless of my console choice.

Killone 2 is good but that about it, there are a number of games that are alot better, there seems to be this preconception that because it looks good then its better than anything else which is total and utter rubbish, a vast majority of hookers look good but would you? (unless you have no standards or your in Holland)

Although I already own all 3 systems;its going to take a lot more then one game to make me spend $300-$400 US. All three systems provide each gamer with their fix. Is KZ2 the "be all end all" shooter... in my "opinion" no. I still have dreams of endless nights of Counterstrike on my PC. Boy those were the days. Anyway for now gamers have a wide range of FPS's out there to play. I myself perfer to play COD 4 but that is because all my friends play. If they all played KZ2 then I guess I would play that with them as well. On a side note and please do not rip me up but when I play KZ2 online it feels like a big quake match. Dead bodies all over the place, spawn camping to the max and pretty much all out chaos. Now again things may have changed but oh well. (walks to other side of room and prepares for tomatos)

did not only sell under Callof Duty 5 on PS3,
it even didn't move *ANY* PS3 (or possibly saved from falling even more).

I agree with you the single player was not that good (CODMW) and yes the AL in KZ2 is very good I do agree again but the AL in Halo set the bar years ago, KZ2's main bragging rights come from the graphics which are better than CODMW but not buy a massive amount, and Gears 2 in parts looks better IMO, not all parts but some, people tend to always show the worst shots of Gears for some reason which is a shame.

The campaign was shorter than CoD's and the online is just 1 big changing game with no selection.

I don't get it...Halo3 had a longer campaign, and online vs Killzone2's has maybe triple the stuff size, variety in gametypes, more customizable features, forge, vehicles, etc etc.

Just seeing how Bungie utilized the DVD9 so early in the 360's lifespan gives me more respect for them.

I thought the AI was very good. Also 4 - 5 hours?? Took me 12 hours, I tend to savor my gaming experiences, why would you want to rush through a game in 5 hours!

I've never played multiplayer on any game to be honest, which is probably why I take my time on single player modes.

I have a 360 - have had it for three years. I got a PS3 for Xmas and was jazzed because I got to buy MSG4 - THAT is the game that made me want a PS3.

That being said, when my 360 broke, I bought Killzone 2 to play, and I really liked it. Any game that gets you to play online, and complete tasks to level up and get new weapons/abilities is great, and this game does it great.

That being said, it's not the best game on the PS3, but it's still great.

Halo 3 is the biggest disappointment of this ENTIRE generation, thanks to the 30 million dollar marketing HYPE...it has, by far, the worst single player campaign i have played in my adult life!!! HALO 3 is a HEADACHE!! never in my gaming life have i seen level design get uglier as the game progressed ...until Halo 3...

I didn't understand most of what this guy said. I'm astounded at how people who write that horribly can get jobs in journalism. I don't really consider myself a good writer, but I could've written a better article than this when I was in junior high.

That said, I do think KZ2 is the best CONSOLE fps I've played. I'll be the first to admit that 360 Left 4 Dead has the best mechanics of any console fps I've played, but the console version translates HORRIBLY from the PC version. The visuals are atrocious, I never thought my laptop could run a game better than the 360 (geforce GO 7600), and the gameplay just doesn't translate well at all... but the moving and aiming mechanics are still good. I'd say that PC left 4 dead is better than KZ2, but not 360 lfd. And console fps' like KZ2 and Halo 3 don't come anywhere close to the PC half life games, or PC bioshock for that matter. I'm not a big fan of first-person games with a third-person narrative, but i think KZ2 does an amazing job of being what it tries to be; an incredible console fps.

KZ2 is so lame, yeah its got great graphics, but the story lacks a couple of things, online is ok, sure more players yeah thats greats. the maps are to big or way 2 small. i think kz2 was a flop in my opinion but thats just my opinion. BUT WAIT THERES MORE. it was a flop in sales. only 750,000 unitis sold, thats week as HELL. fable 2 had more than that on the first day. no matter how good a game on ps3 is, even if its the best game in the world, it will always have week sales if its on ps3. did you know that every gaming website said that if it was on 360, it would have sold 4 million on the first day. GEARS 2 WAY BETTER.

My god man, You dont even know how wrong you are. First of all Gears of War 1 has one of the worst next-gen mp there is... You cant do, well almost anything. 5 v 5 is max, you got no option in hosting or joining and well to be exact it just suck. Killzone 2 is the only game that beats Call of Duty 4 which is the best mp game on the 360 system. I got both systems and GoW2 sucks just like GoW1 when it comes to mp (not including co-op as the mp).

You have tons of classes, in GoW, well you got none (lol). The classes are well-balanced and all are fun (except maybe for medic)and you can do so much, many types of modes in same game, OR you as host can choose how to modify any gamemode as he/she wants.

And just as a bonus, logon to Killzone2.com and check your latest clan war replay? Which game has that type of service? None. killzone 2 is longer than 4 hours. its like 7 or 8, and if you play it on hard its even longer. besides most fps are short. call of duty 4 was only 6 hours(not exadurating) but people dont complain about it since its multiplatform.

Killzone 2 is one of the best fps period. Even with its so called iffy controls Pfft. If your good at games you adapt and react then overcome. It was kinda unbiased, but had flaws, the major one being 4-5 hours to finish. he must've been playing on easy and/or skipping every sene. I get his point that no one game will make people overlook a $500 price tag just for that one game. unreasonable. Hype kills alotta games, and 360 owners know that as well. I personally think Killzone 2 is a great game, but it wouldn't convince me to buy a PS3. I haven't played Halo 3, but I had as much fun playing the first Halo as I had playing Killzone 2. The graphics on the game are amazing, but the gameplay while tight and fun, is not fundamentally better than Halo or Call of Duty in my opinion.

Understand this is my opinion, and I'm not a huge fan of fps to begin with.

Anyone who agrees that giving KZ2 a score of 7 is reasonable should not be allowed to rate games on any platform. It's not a 10 in my opinion, but it's nowhere near a 7. Gameplay wise it's nearly indistinguishable from CoD4, except for the feel of the controls. For me, that's a minus because I'm sick of mindless run and gun FPS. Graphics wise, it's far superior to anything we've seen except maybe MGS4, which I still think is the greatest game of this generation. As for the question of converting 360 owners... who cares? I've played H3, GeoW 1 & 2, and L4D and I prefer what the PS3 has to offer. I'm just sad that it's my fellow Americans that keep an inferior machine ahead of a superior one. I liked this article. If you have read any of my posts you know i am a AVID 360 supporter. However, i will admit this. If any game can make me buy the PS3, its Uncharted/LBP, NOT KILLZONE2. However, even then, i wont buy it till it drops under 200$.

The fact of the matter is that all you PS3 OWNERS overestimate yourselves. The majority has chosen the 360, and in a democracy... that means we win. I would have bought a PS3 if i thought it had better games, or was a better system. BUT I DONT.

When the guns are tat, the graphics ok, but i find it hard to even shoot straight very unorthadox, cod will wipe the floor with this rubbish and it is rubbish the assault rifle in this game is almost laughauble, and the sonyfanboy talks about graphics any dev can make dark graphics of dark walls easy, the game is rubbish honestly and so is mgs, now my ps3 is a blu-ray player and it's not a proper blu-ray player as it lacks all the proper audio.

Killzone 2 is a quagmire because it looks absolutly amazing... But the gameplay doesnt wow me. It wasnt really that addictive. Until i got that electricity gun i really didnt like the game. Its just that simple. The ending was awesome and took me about 6 hrs, on trooper. It is one of those gaming experiences that this gen is lacking in. KZ2 has tons of good things about it, but it is the aura that it gives off that makes it great.

This gen I can only name a few games that were truly epic from start to finish and KZ2 is one of them. Along with SMG, MGS4, LoZ:TP, Mass Effect and Uncharted as one of this gen best games.

CoD 4 is no0b friendly, hence why sales are threw the roof. It is easy to pick up and start killing fools. Those types of games I STAY AWAY from because they lack any real skill. MW2 will be more of the same to keep the casual audience.

Sony really does need another mainline shooter franchise. They pretty much gave up after the PS3 generation, and I'm really surprised they haven't tried at another high-profile, singleplayer-centric shooter; even if it weren't Killzone or Resistance.

I miss Killzone while I can see why they still do Horizon has some really good things but I do think that Horizon is overrated imo.

Or how about studios focus on projects that they feel passionate about, and not be forced to make something they have little interest in. It shows in the final product.

It’s still got potential for the modern era. The DNA is all there. The install base is there. The interest is there. The time is now.

I’m beating a dead horse here… but Resisitance FOM gun lay out was so fun, multiplayer was one of my top favorite experiences. Insomniac nailed it and I would love a remaster and maybe a redo with Reisistance 2. They listens to players who were wanting a Halo killer and it kind of lost its character from the first.

Warhawk, if they had just remade the first one not Starhawk which offered nice things like the build and battle.. but Warhawk was the best arcade shooter I ever played. Back when you didn’t have battle passes and you actually had to get certain amount of kills or ribbons to unlock different paint skins on the Warhawks and armor for your player.. Look at the success of Helldivers 2, it’s a fun game and it reminds me of Warhawk in a way. I’ve been wanting a remake or sequel since the beginning of the ps4 gen.. it’s hurts to have hope nowadays. Even with the demise of the studios Sony has a steady fan base.
