The PS3 has a wide variety of features. The widely known features are the Blu-Ray player and an internet browser. However, there is a major feature that does not get much attention. That feature is the ability to install a Linux OS.

Square Enix launches Final Fantasy X 25th anniversary site, revealing new Nomura art, books, music releases, and merchandise.
Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.
Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.
More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.
Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.
All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
for the most part anyway. I know I dont. I want pc, I go to my pc. I want Motorstorm I go to my ps3. I know the feature is used by some ps3 owners but Im sure most of the community never has put too much stock into it.
Well I heard you can't really access the GPU of the PS3 yet.
I know I would like to install some PC games through Linux, wud be fun!
Unfortunately it does not work well enough. I have my own powerful PC for general stuff, and PS3 has a usable web browser, so basically it's not needed.
The main issue is the RAM. It only provides 200MB usable memory, where a basic GUI (Gnome or KDE) itself requires more than this.
But... It may be argued that, built-in homebrew/linux capability has deterred hackers from cracking PS3 (it no longer is necessary).
I have an external Hdd. .thats where my videos go.thing is,almost all of my games need to be installed, its left me with 30gigs on my 80gig hdd and Ive heard. . .you need atleast 20gigs for Linux use? Is this right?
its mostly forgotten (atleast by me) because it takes a bit of effort to set up, and once you have there is no real reward, its impossible to get flash working for firefox and i couldn't play avi vids because i couldn't install vlc. (maybe it has changed since)of course now the ps3 can play nearly every type of .avi and has an up to date flash so now there is absolutely no need for it.
basically you end up spending way too much time getting everything to work and they end up not working
