It is more of an MMO MAiKU.

FamilyGuy6254d ago

Well Im not into MMOs but I love Grandia.

I love having abilities that level up rather than just getting new ones and Grandia is well known for it's large number of different magic spells and abilities.

I love the tales and star ocean games for the same ability leveling up experience. To simply be rewarded for using a skill is gratifying in that the game sees "Oh, you use that move often/like it, lets make THAT one stronger for you so it remains useful."

Because of its abilities system! ^_^

Hopefully the MMO will keep its system, but modify it a bit to be balanced.

This game could be huge in Japan! I can't see why there aren't more MMO's of other great RPG series.

God I loved Grandia, such a stellar RPG.

Dragun6196254d ago

Seriously, Grandia is one the best rpg franchises out there.
Also its great to hear that Grandia 1 will be released on PSN. Haven't played the first one yet but I have played and still have Grandia 2, Grandia Extreme, and Grandia 3. Enjoyed all three of them especially G2 and its story. Can't wait for Gandia online, it goes perfect with Free PSN.

This Japanese Bikini Model's Grandia Online Party Is Insane

Japanese bikini models just keep getting stranger and stranger. Yuko Ogura was a self-proclaimed alien and Shoko Nakagawa sniffs cat butts and wants to marry Sephiroth.

But Moe Wakaki blows those ladies' weird factors right out of the water.

The 24 year old bikini model appeared at a promotional party for the upcoming release of Grandia Online with her partner, Mr. Suzuki, a mannequin she spends her life with.

Indeed.

GungHo Finally Details Grandia Online

At a press conference in Tokyo today, GungHo Online Entertainment and its subsidiary GameArts finally took the wraps off its MMORPG Grandia Online. Originally announced four years ago, the project has since been shrouded in mystery. Today, GungHo revealed that the game has been jointly developed by an internal development team and Grandia makers GameArts. As expected, series composer Noriyuki Iwadare is in charge of Grandia Online's soundtrack. Kikuko Inouchi will again lend her voice to Liete. Meanwhile, Mariya Ise will voice the Colta race.

Why an mmo god damn it?
The best thing about the Grandia-series has always been the AFW battlesystem, why would they destroy that by making it an mmo is completely beyond me. :(

GameGambits6224d ago

Personally I'm excited to see how they go about it. This is def. a game series that could work as a MMORPG, because of how the games mechanics have been worked out in the Grandia games.

The only game I'm actually still wondering hasn't gone the MMORPG road is Suikoden RPG series. If any game series would be suited perfect for it it's that and Konami needs to get on it. :)

callahan096224d ago

It's still not confirmed for PS3, right? I think it's just PC for now, but I hope they bring it to PS3, too. With games like Angel Love Online, Uncharted Waters Online, The Agency, DC Universe Online and Free Realms for PS3, the PS3 is shaping up to be a nice destination for MMO fans . . . Sony should make sure Grandia Online accompanies those titles on the PS3.
