Microsoft sells more consoles (in the US) and offers 3 first party studios. Sony sells less consoles (in the US) and offers 20 first party studios. First party studios directly benefit the owner of that particular console to whom the studio is allied.

I don't know why you guys hang on sales so much. I mean, all those sales for the 360 haven't prevented this years exclusive lineup to look a bit weak compared to its competitor has it? The PS3 doesn't perform as well as the 360 in your eyes but yet the games keep coming from Sony. What gives??

ANYONE who puts out quality games, regardless of whether they are first or third party, exclusive or not, is benefitting gamers.

Brilliant RE5 performance, mainly on Xbox 360. It reveals that it's not that games are selling more on PS3... it's just that some genres of game, especially fighting due to the horrible Xbox 360 d-pad. Almost 2:1 in favor of the Xbox 360 version of Resident Evil 5 is a good proof that the console is still comfortably leading in multiplatforms.

Halo Wars also did pretty good for being an RTS.

Killzone 2 on the other hand showed a terrible performance considering the pre-release hype behind it.

That's how much 360 outsold PS3 by. I really do feel that if PS3 was closer in price to the 360, that PS3 would be outselling it in the United States.

I can see the PS3 price drop really shooting numbers through the roof. For me personally, I'm waiting for the price drop and then I'm snapping one up, I assume many will be doing the same.

The 3rd party lineup is just as good if not better than either Sony's, Nintendo's, or Microsoft's. This is the first whole gen (happened towards the end of last gen too) where games could be released for all consoles and still be well made.

Price point of the console itself is going to make a much bigger deal than it has ever before.

I am disheartened with killzone 2 sales though. Hope they make their money back by next month.

Which ever console sold best first. This is what 360 fanboys brought to this gen. After listening to "Lolz, Sony iz teh dead" for a year, who wouldn't stick it to them when PS3 started crushing it. They brought their insecurity from last gen over to this one, which is why nobody is in the Wii threads arguing over sales.

another great month for software and gamers goes by, and we all could enjoy great games on the consoles we have. Its a great time to be a gamer.

M$ is surviving but they have been trounced by the WII and cost less. The PS3 is bad but Sony is doing alright because they have other hardware that's selling. Now Sony needs to drop the price and market the system I was playing LBP today and was ashamed that the game has not sold halo like #s. I know it seems like a kids game but it is very clever and innovative title that is much deeper than you think. I don't know why 360 has done so well but I got one too and did not really want it. M$ must be doing something right except be the leader of with a year advantage and the cheapest of all systems this gen and still owned by Nintendo.

KZ2 had over 300 sold units last month in the US. So now its over 600. I dont see how thats bad in a country where they have half the install base of 360. Its about the same as Halo Wars sales.

@below: the trend is, cheap products sell good! And Sony's numbers are not down from the same month last year.

The sales don't particularly matter for the past, but what it does give us is a trend for the future.

With the wii and ps3 down year on year and the 360 up it means that the US market's growing in that direction. This would insinuate that what the 360 does right is what the US wants from it's gaming consoles.

This isn't what nintendo [despite their massive sales] nor Sony [who should've been in this position off the back of the ps2] want to hear.

But then.. US console for US people? They *should* have the momentum.

The next gen market should be killer fun to watch.

At the end of the day, what I see here (as a gamer whole loves games and if I could would have them all) is a market that is supporting not 1, not 2, not 3 not 5 but 6 gaming consoles. 10 years ago this would be impossible, I love it! its a great time to be a gamer.

Halo Wars gets a lot of unwarranted hate cause it's a Halo game, sadly. Anyone who has a 360 and doesn't hate RTS games should at least rent it. It's actually really fun, but would've been a better game (IMO) if they weren't restricted by the Halo universe and were able to maybe add a bit more depth to the game.

HOWEVER, Halo Wars would never have gotten these sales numbers without the Halo title. I'm surprised it didn't sell more, but I'm glad it showed that RTS can be done on a console just fine. It may be "dumbed down", but it's still fun, which is what I look for in a game.

Completely agree with the fact that Halo Wars would not have sold half as much if it did not have Halo in the title.I love the Halo universe and only bought the game because it was set in the Halo universe but to my surprise, i found a great game.A game that as of today, i have logged in 121 multiplayer matches.Pretty impressive for someone that does not like RTS's at all.

I do believe it was a smart move and the right decision to base Microsoft 1st console RTS in the halo universe because it has suceeded in making people that wont look at an RTS intrigued and wanting more.I know i now want more RTS because i will be buying Endwars in a few weeks.

Huge 360 price cut? Look a little closer. PS3's main SKU was released at $600 - it's now $400 after 2 1/2 years - a 33% price drop. 360's main SKU - the Pro - started at $400. It's now $300 after 3 1/2 years - only a 25% drop. The 360 Arcade has been dropped equally to the PS3's 33%. Does Sony really need to cut a full 50% off the PS3's price (to $299) just to pull even? That would be unprecedented.

and the #60 was still ahead how is that catching up when they are still loosing. Personally I think its great for business, I mean if sony didnt get a butt kicking when it first came out then the ps3 would still be 600 bucks. Im glad that most of their big exclusives havent sold halo numbers now they'll put some marketing money on them as well. If people didnt complain MS wouldn't hav extended those warranties.

I say keep up the competition, lets not let companies have a smug attitude about the things they do.

BTW Halo wars was a great game played the demo and I will borrow it one my friend gets done with his.

Once a month, these guys crawl out of their hole for the only piece of good news MS gamers... no, MS shareholders... no(no profits), MS fanboys have and it's not anything to do with games. If you guys were gamers, you would be more concerned with your lack of quality games.
