Pretty much the only thing holding the PS3 back from overtaking the 360 in sales in Europe for good is Gran Turismo 5 and a price cut... once a price cut and/or GT5 drops, I think the PS3 will surpass the 360 in sales and maintain the lead.

I remember last year David Reeves said that the PS3 had actually overtaken the 360 in sales, but once Microsoft dropped the price a second time in 2008 in Europe, that's when the 360 started to outsell the PS3 and the 360 regained a lead.

When you think about it, the 360 should have a MUCH bigger lead over the PS3 in EU because the 360 came out worldwide in November 2005, but the PS3 didn't come out in Europe until March 2007, yet the lead the 360 has over the PS3 in EU is very small, and the PS3 has sold Faster in Europe at a higher price.

Microsoft and the 360 has gained some ground in Europe, but I think Playstation in many places has a bigger influence because it took a LOT of price cuts in Europe to convince people to even buy the Xbox 360.

As soon as ps3 gets a price cut, Eu will go nuts. Then it will be hard to find a 360 game on any of these charts.

MS having 5 games in the top 20 in SWEDEN doesn't really tie in to what you said in your original comment.

Japan is the home of Sony, not Europe. The Playstation has just always been popular in the region.

If we take top 15 we have 3xPS3 > 2x360

Of course, these so called "sales" charts have no numbers on them. For all we know, RE5 for PS3 could have sold 1000 copies, and RE5 for 360 could have sold 995. Without numbers, these charts are meaningless.

Yeah, well, the PS3 as a single platform has 2 games in the top 5. The only platform to have 2 in the top 5. The 360 doesn't even have 2 games in the top 10.

My country likes PS3 except me I somehow like 360 more :) But my dad still has a PS3 so no worries ;)

Then how does that exactly mean they love Microsoft over there? You just pointed out there are more PS3 games in the top 15 and in higher positions. I'm not seeing how 360 is doing better.

Anyways, Xbox is doing way better here in the top-charts I've seen than in any other countries.

@belowe: I am trying to make a point here, the XBox as well as PC is MS oriented here. PC is still king here. But to tell you, it's been more console-oriented as I can see it. I am just saying that, MS has been a stronghold here and is why XBox is always promoted first in any shop.
(They give you a smirky smile or a look that could kill if you're yapping about a PS3 game).

Further on: Things are starting to cool off. It's been more and more neutral to what system to buy, console-wise.

Summarum: Why the charts are what they are, is because we like PC first, Xbox is selling mostly because of brand recognition (HAHAHA). But as I've said things are changing to a more normal level of things.

First you said Microsoft. Then you said 360. Make up your mind. You do realize PC is included in the whole Microsoft part right?

Spinning it. PC has a death grip over computers, just because Windows is pretty much standard does not mean people like Microsoft. People don't buy PC games thinking about how Windows is so great.

Estranged: You should see our 'dictator/ruler' of what to use in our net at my office. He reeks of it when talked about something-anything than MS. I am usually not paranoid, but this attitude is, as I can see, very wide spread among the top-dogs in it or computer-shops here.
