Developer Oxeye Game Studio has released a patch for its RTS/tower defense title Harvest: Massive Encounter.

Leading publisher of Japanese independent games, Rockin’ Android, announced today they are now distributing several of their releases on PCgaming platform, Desura.

Ultra Ninjas:
"Everything you do is tracked and scored online, including rivalry groups you can join to beat each others scores. It's nice having a bit of competition besides that of the ever encroaching alien hordes. The longevity is certainly there, while simplistic – I've certainly sunk a few hours in. The only downside perhaps being a change of scenery or a larger variety of aliens to encounter than you will. Still, this is something that could always be added at a later date, and it's certainly not whining over for the money you spend."

If you like tower defense games, Harvest: Massive Encounter succeeds. There are enough subtleties and game variants to give you some replay value, and it's a quick-playing game that you can pick up and put down readily without having to relearn the rules or spend hours trying to clear a dungeon or conquer a nation like you might in other games.
If you are not fond of this genre, however, Harvest isn't a likely candidate to convert you. There aren't enough defensive units and this in turn limits your tactical choices and overall strategic options. It's a streamlined game that does one thing well, but you need to be an avid fan of that one thing--defending a base that you build.
