Iphone, shmiphone. Really hope that the psp doesn't take too many tips from it in the inevitable PSP2.

I enjoy it as a gaming device. The problem is with the buttons, but it storage space really makes up for it with free updates.

The scale + depth of ipod/iphone games are nowhere near to what is available for psp + DS.

It has an audience but i dont think there is much overlap with psp + DS
Its for people who want to play the occassional game.
Right now its like comparing speilberg to a porn director.

It is targeting a very different audience. It is easier for sony to do what apple is doing than vice versa

I ordered a pandora, it will run quake 3, doom 4, loads of emulators, and all iphone apps.

Only reason to get an iphone is to call people.

Here is why no one cares about the Iphone as a gaming device. It was designed first and foremost AS A PHONE!!! Apple said countless times before that they did not care about getting into the gaming market in anyway. The fact that a few people made a few games for the Iphone and put them up on the ap store is pointless. The device has nothing but gimmick games and that will not change considering it's lack of control.

I can not take something with such a small screen and no tactile buttons as a serious gaming platform.

Fun for casual games, but nothing serious. Fact. You don't hear people going around saying "omg i'm going to get ipod touch because *game on the level of final fantasy* is coming out on it"...no...you just dont

I own a iPhone, 2 x PSP (one slim, one fat), 360, PS3 and Wii, but I can honestly say: the iPhone never ever is gonna reach what real gaming systems can do.

Don't forget, its a phone. Yes it can do some games, special made tilt/sensing stuff and in that niche it does fine. But no buttons like the PSP is a miss for gaming. Although I like the touch screen for the functions it has

Sorry, but i don't take a PHONE serious as a gaming device because, surprise, its a PHONE. And i don't like the iPhone very much as a Phone, too, the atrocious battery live comes to mind. People have been whining about the PSP only clocking in 4-6 hours of play, so how shall i take a device serious thats dead after about an hour? And the PSP at least allows me to switch the battery so i can easily extend it to several more hours.

The iPhone may be good and "serious" regarding the usual mobile phone game market, but thats all that is to that. Shareware quality game snippets that will need quite some time to mature into anything useful. And by then the device has ceased to be "hip" and is replaced by some other geek toy from Apple.

Good Phone, fun apps....but as a gamer...It`a a console or PC for me.

no, i won't take it as a serious competitor. all the iphone touch adds on tv, where they show games, just look like mini games, and if i wanted to play those, i've got a wii.

If apple released an "iplay" then they can be taken seriously by gamers. I will never ever consider the iphone to compete with the ds and psp.....because it will always be a "phone" first and gaming was just an afterthought. Dont make me slap you people who think that it can be a great portable because it doesnt have the games that gamers want and the games available are mostly for casuals players who just wanna pass time cause theyve got no one to call or text.

Hmmm. I certainly understand a lot of the issues people are mentioning but a lot of you are saying "It's not a proper games machine because it doesn't have proper games" or "the ad shows only mini-games" well my question is did you even read the article? It shows 5 games that are around DS quality.
