Very good news, indeed. I tried playing DMC 3 on PS2 and the graphics were too sh!tty to even bother. I'm glad it's coming to the next-gen console I currently own.

I am not sure which way is better sometimes, for one, u make games multiplatform, u may get more sales. But you also kill the game's interest from the old group right away, such as what? this is big news for people that care about it losing its exclusiveness, but i never played any of these games and so i guess thats why its not big deal to me.

i will say this, i really hopes this happens more with both systems. as much as i know that people want their system to have all the exclusives, its better for all gamers. if all games came out on both systems it would easier for those that can't afford both systems to be able to play them. i'm even a little tired of always buying both systems just so i can play all the games. ever since nintendo vs. genesis i've been buying both. i can't wait until all the games are on both systems, and i think this generation of gaming will start this trend.

for all those who are offended by capcom's desicion, think of it like this. they didn't do it because they didn't like the ps3, or because the 360 base is so big, and its not like the ps3 isn't going to get the game. capcom is releasing it to ps3, 360, AND PC. meaning they also didn't think the ps3/360 base was enough to make a profit on. they're truly trying to hit the biggest market. you can't hate on anyone for that. money is money

If you decide to put your biggest game on multiplatform, which is Resident Evil 5, why wouldn't you do that for Devil May Cry.Dead rising, Lost Planet or any new IPs from Capcom could go to PS3.

Makes sense, IMO I played the first one and it was a bit garbage to me so I don't think it was a big loss. Everyone acts like they announced it was only coming out on the 360. I will just wait for MGS4, its the game I got my PS3 for.
But if you like the DMC series, at least you will be able to get it now on the 360.

this shouldnt be seen as a bad thing for sony, they still have games coming that will help sell the console, this can only be seen as a good thing for everyone, capcom are giving people what they want
its nice to see capcom are pulling out all the stops this generation and giving people some of the best games, dead rising and lost planet will probably go sonys way at some point

really, unless KillZone 2 really delivers, there won't really be a killer app exclusive title for PS3 anytime soon.

A lot of the big exclusive series for PS2 - Resident Evil, GTA, Virtua Fighter, etc. are heading over to the multiplatform territory. What makes it worse for Sony is that the 360 has some very strong exclusives on the way - Halo 3, Fable 2, Mass Effect, BioShock, Forza 2 and more.

DMC was never really on my radar but I'm sure it was for a lot of other PS3 owners. Needless to say this really sets Sony back further. But It's obvious that any game that isn't 1st party will be going multi platform until at least the PS3 gains a much better install base.

Capcom has NOTHING to do with Sony, and 3rd party's need a solid business plan for shareholders. Right now there is 10 million 360's to sell games for.
I expect for the foreseeable future, most so called 3rd party exclusive's for ps3 won't stay that way. Now in a year or so when the numbers of ps3's out there has increased, maybe things will change. But with the price of big game development these days, it will be mostly in house titles that stay only on one machine.

Except for those few untouchable titles that are bought and paid for such as Halo, MGS4, and such you will be seeing more of this going forward. I think the larger majority of the defecting titles will be Sony titles only because they have more titles from the last gen. The only people this will really affect are the ones who were mainly getting a PS3 for this title and the few Sony fans who publicly guaranteed that this would not happen.

...in a console war that is wagging day and night, this is a definite 'hit', it really IS strange for me why MGS4 and FF13 are PS3 exclusive right now, should I be truting those folks anymore? I don't know. I do know one thing for sure that 'Bioware' is bringing something up for PS3 as well, and it could be a previously announced 360 exclusive title at that. Just like Oblivion finally made it here with even improvements I'm hoping mostly 3rd party software will do the same.

Still, after GDC, my most prioritized reason for PS3 has been HOME and games like Little Big Planet, I have mentioned that earlier and so games, or as you say 'exclusive' games are not the foremost priority for me !

This is the current trend for all titles, regardless of what platform. Some of you are making it out as if the PS3 version was canceled and the 360 is getting full exclusivity or something. The same reaction happened with Mercenaries, which is also coming to the PS2 incidentally. Next-gen games are expensive to develop. Hell, even this press release states that they're making a PC version as well.

Hmmm. When I only had a 360 this would have been excellent news for me. But since I bought my PS3 I've been hoping they could keep exclusives so I would feel like my investment paid off. Now to figure out which version to buy...

Though this is obviously a big blow to the pride of many PS3 owners (whether they deny it or not :P), like Phil Harrison said about GTA4, the PS3 simply does not have the installed base right now to support huge games like this.

But realistically, this should be good news for everyone. This game will be great, and now we all have a shot at enjoying it.

1.will this move cause the game to be downgraded? i'm not saying the 360/PC cant handle it..i'm just saying that since the 360/ps3/[c are 3 very different machines and working on all 3 may cause the game to not be fully relized....i just ope this doesnt turn out like DMC2.

2.which system i should play it on?......i'll probably get the ps3 version since i'm kind used to using that particular controller for this game.

just like assassins creed, as soon as it went multi (which is good because it looks cool) you never heard anyone talk about it. i can go on record as saying i don't like the DMC games, and after this announcement it doesn't change a thing, still don't like it and won't buy it. some of my friends will and it will help 360s selling which means more people on live to shoot in other games.
i don't see what the big deal is with 3rd party games on all platforms, for example dead rising is a fun game and i would expect to see it on the ps3 at some point. 3rd party games going multi platform means the devs make more money and can turn out even better games in the future. 3rd party developers don't have the $$ of sony or MS so they have to do what they can to keep the money flowing for even better games. if dead rising going to the ps3 means capcom will have more money to spend on the sequel and make it even better well then that is a good thing.

What I want to know is if DMC4 was always intended to be multiplatform and ifnot when did they decide to switch? The behind the scenes manovering is what Im interested in. Was it a direct response to slow sales of the PS3 or the success of lostplanet and dead rising? At any rate this is bad PR for Sony no matter how they spin it. Games sell systems and Sony the most expensive of the three needs great games that will only appear on their console to justify the purchase. Ifnot it makes no sense to buy the most expensive of the 3 consoles if your primary purpose is to play videogames.

it's good for 360 gamers if it's official on DMC4,but my concern has always been who's making the game.i love DMC1.DMC2 was done buy a different producer and director,and it showed.it's still fun.but dante was no longer dante.DMC3 did the series justice.but it still wasn't DMC1.and it repeated areas when it didn't need to.god of war took you to new places every time.and number 2 is just insane.it rivals any ps3 or 360 game.and it's on ps2.

DMC4 doesn't star dante as lead.which doesn't make sense.but hideki kamiya isn't at capcom.he is now at seed(ex clover devs that were at capcom).he directed RESIDENT EVIL 2 and it was great.he helped with VIEWTIFUL JOE.and it was great.he helped with OKAMI and it was great.he did DMC1.it was great.........but he's not doing DMC4.that's not a good sign.

Any Sony fan saying it isn't is just being bitter. This a blow to Sony, but not the end of the world. It is time to get a bit nervous, though. First GTA, then Unreal Tournament, Resident Evil, Assassins Creed, Virtua Fighter, a few others, now DMC. However, the two biggest Sony 3rd party games, MGS and FF, are still intact. If those go then look out. Sony does have some solid 1st party games, but I think overall Sony as a 1st party developer/publisher ranks below both MS and Nintendo as far as quality. Nintendo is possibly the best, but MS's deep pockets have allowed it to really secure some top notch exclusives as publisher this go round.

I think many of you are missing the impact of this news. Japan loves DMC and if its available for the 360 along with Resident evil 5 etc. This gives them all the more reason to pick up a far cheaper system to play them on. With more penetration you can assume more exclusives will go multi and increase the 360s presence. Overall a great piece of news for any 360 owner. More Japanese 360 owners means more support from japan, which turns into more great games.

Considering almost every person to make a Sony exclusive list big or small they always had DMC4 in it that shows that this is a big deal to them. They'll deny it now, but deep inside they feel it.

but I wish some games would remain exclusives. It gives each console it's own character. I can understand why developers want as large an audience as possible. They do need to make money. i am a huge fan of the dmc series. as long as it comes out for the ps3 i dont care what else it comes out for. also on that not everyone is saying how big a hit this is on sony for losing the exlusives. i just dont see it that way. if you look on this web pages home page at the hot list this game isnt even listed on it. im really suprised because alot of my friends dig this series also. i think loosing the ratchet and clank, jak and dextor, mgs , and final fantasy's would hurt sony way more

DMC will go nicely with Too Human i love button mashing adventures and will be an great addition to my future diverse collection of tittles.

Remember Sony fans there has to be a reason to spend money to port games to the PS3 i just can't see why they would bring Lost Planet and Dead Rising to the PS3 it's not like devs just want to show of the technical prowess and hooking you guys up because the personally like Sony and fans by porting these games with out making any money. When a PS3 loses exclusivity to a game (i.e. devil may cry) it's very predictable for Sony fanboys to say, "I don't care. This game sucks anyways. we have better exclusives. This is just a rumor. The 360's version is a port." First why do you bother posting about something that you don't care and why would you want others to know that you don't care when we don't care that you don't care.
I have no idea what this lost means; all I know is that when Nintendo lost to Sony last time around Nintendo started to lose exclusives left and right. Everytime Sony loses exclusives a handful of people become less resistant to buy a 360. Pray Metal Gear or final fantasy does not become multi-platform; because if they do... it will be harder to justify spending more money on a console that based on coparizon has nothing on the 360. Also beg that the next sprint update does not reveal something that can hurt sony even more. Or pray that the 360 does not get a price drop. Blu-Ray what?

This is how I see it. For me to be honest I dont play hack and slash games anymore. I am 31 but hey for my son that is going to be 8 he is reaching the age that he likes easy fun stuff. Me as a grown up have a budget for things and I will buy things that I like. There are alot of things more pricey in life but that doesn't mean it's better. In todays world there are alternatives. And so far x360 is that alternative for me. Why would I buy a 40k lexus when a 35k bmw does and better.

I agree that MS's XBL updates are as dangerous as game for the 360 to the competition. I read MS's coming up with some advanced feature's like Spectating of a hole new level and other companies using XBL for there sevices and more.

This is Capcom, it is a company seeking profit in products they sell. Remember what happened before Resident Evil 4 was released? Deja vu anyone? When you put a next-gen effort, you definitely want it to worth, so Capcom came to the decision that they will sell enough copies over multi-platforming, instead of PS3 exclusivity. It's just normal.

Not a game I care about much right now, but afterall it's true that PlayStation 3 lost some good exclusive titles here and there, and DMC is no different. Might be the same with MGS4. People strictly believed that DMC would be on PS3, as an exclusive, developers strictly stated they have no plans on multi-platforming, yet look at the results.

Sony should start working on titles like God of War 3, announce them soon, instead of relying on hit titles from other companies, afterall it's their right to go for multi-platform in order to be able to survive next-gen game development.

Final fantasy and Metal gear get removed from Exclusivity thats the day I cry. DMC is a loss but it's not the worst possible thing possible. Still a lose but this can just very well be a sign of things to come for both companies.

what i said earlier,and i'll make it more simple:

1.sony has a grip of devs making games.
2.most of the games they make sell very well.
3.they knew that third parties would make games for both.they knew this.
4.they are spending money to make better games on their own.which means:better games from sony.

HIDEKI KAMIYA created DMC.without him making the game,2 and 3 was not as good as one.i still liked them and bought them.but they were not as good as one and the ORIGINAL DANTE. and most likely 4 won't be what he created either.i'll buy it.but something tells me without the ORIGINAL CREATOR,it won't be the same.

I dont automatically believe these things, i didnt with assassin creed and i didnt with mercenaries, but IF it is ture, i am very happy indeed. I have no intention of buying a PS3 come Friday, and this is just another game im happy 2 be thinking i might get 2 play

1) Which one will load faster.
2) Which one will look better.

This is a big loss, a bigger loss if it doesnt look better. If it does look and run better i think it could actually turn out to be a good thing.

The larger installbase seems to be paying off for MS. It's pretty simple really. Do we want 4 million (or whatever it is) potential buyers or 15 million? And that's only counting consoles.

Not a surprise. Capcom has been making millions from the 360. Dead Rising and Lost Planet are HUGE sellers. The fact that the 360 has a huge fanbase already and the ps3 doesn't means more sony exclusives will be jumping in. Another bonus of coming out an year earlier. Plus the 360 games are making alot of money. Around 20 games have hit the million sale mark.

Another great addition for the 360. It will accompany a HUGE list of AAA exclusives on the 360.

Doesn't matter how you want to spin it, but it is not looking to good for the ps3. Add the fact that Motorstorm failed to impress (alot of 7's and 8's) and it's just looking like a disaster.

Looks like the 360 is the clear winner for next gen games. :)

Pretty much limits ps3 to MGS4 and Ratchet & Clank now. Seems like everything that was supposedly exclusive is now multi, and MGS still might hit the 360.

WOW, this has got to be some of the biggest news we have heard in awhile, not that "nobody" saw it coming or that Sony is "doomed". I think "gamers" on both sides should take this as a learning lesson to never assume that you know what will or will not happen behind closed doors....in the end every company is in the business to make money and 360 is just a logical choice to ensure maxium profits, I expect to see some 360 exclusive's eventually make their way over to the PS3, but so far M$ has had a better strategy of securing their games.

Honestly I do think DMC4 coming to the 360 has alot to do with Sony's belief that the success of the PS2 garuantees the success of the PS3, hmmm maybe that is a overstatement, but I do firmly believe that some of their "failures" this gen is a result of a somewhat "laidback" attitude based on the success of the PS2. -Don't get me wrong pass success makes every company confident but you need more than confidence and brand name, you have to deliver -and Sony HAS delivered a great console but what I mean by all this gibberish is that it seems at times they have taken things for granted and not pushed that extra mile and in business even if you have been successful in the past you always have to grasp (easy)opportunities to remain on top and continue building your reputation, which frankly in my opinion Sony has not done, and this I believe is just one more example of Sony's arrogance hurting them....maybe not specifically this ONE game but I'm sure they could have went out of their way to have made at least a "few" of these "big" 3rd party games exclusive....not all but at least 1 or 2, yeah you can say Phil said "we aren't worried about losing 3rd party exclusives right now", but thats just Sony spin= hoping that big name franchises take their "chances" with Sony, vs./instead of going after them and securing a deal($$$).

Capcom is doing many strange things these days including but not limited to; breaking up their in house studios, looking to do a Resident Evil 3 movie, and now DMC on multi-platform as well as a TV show in Japan. I would have to say this is less because of them seeing 'weak' PS3 sales, and more of Capcom acting like a heartless money hungery Corporation.

For real. Konami is 3rd party. Not paid for exclusive. Not owned by Sony. The installed base of the PS3 is too small to make money from. Expect much, much more former PS exclusives to come over to the 360. And yup MGS4 could be so next, after MGS2 landed on the original XBOX

For Final Fantasy we hear former devs saying "it should go to the 360"

It doesn't matter how many 360 consoles there are - their games sales are the highest ever, so it is a very sweet deal.

Microsoft pays for its exclusives, but Sony this time is making them - problem is they are unproven franchises. Sony has the largest amount of devs and the most games being made. I think when we see Uncharted and Heavenly Sword people will see what is possible on the system.

DMC4 has said not to bring anything new to the table in terms of "next-gen", graphics or gameplay. But this is of course a blow. if Sony remain retiscent then the war for Sony is to produce amazing first party games. If it was me I'd be paying for third party as well. Especially for MGS and Final Fantasy as they are system sellers - otherwise they turn into 360 sellers.

Makes good business sense to make this title multi-platform. Dev costs are way to high to keep a title single platform. The only such exclusives are time-honored these days. DMC on the 360 is big news. You could say what you want about the game, its still one less thing Sony has when it comes to single platform exclusives. With an installbase comes A LOT of leverage in negotiations. Even if the game sells like crap in Japan, MS execs can just point to the success of Dead Rising and Lost Planet in North America. Would you say no to guaranteed $$$? The game will sell 800,000+ copies guaranteed, just in North America.

Capcom would have to be crazy not to release this game on the 360. Considering how much money they've made with there previous releases on the system.

As DJ said, it is not Sonys fault but for those who write off Microsofts console are fools. There is nothing wrong with it, its designed to play games offline and online, thats it, its got great graphicial capabilities like the PS3 and I am delighted to own one. Keeping exclusive's like FF and MGS is important to Sony if these are also lost many gamers won't see a reason to spend more money on the PS3. First party games must really show off the systems capabilities, because by the looks of things this will be what will set them apart.

A While back when this was rumored, I knew it would happen. Looking at Capcom and it's success with its last 2 Xbox360 games, this was a no brainer.

Were the reason for the PS2's success. You could play Madden online on a PS2 two years before it was playable on LIVE. Same thing with GTA - they were timed exclusives, but for a long time, they were perceived to never come out on another console. Games like FF, MGS, and DMC certainly have a following, and are system sellers for that niche, but the general public - the people buying all the Wiis now - don't care about these games.

I'm happy about the news, since I own a 360 and recently bought the DMC Anniv. edition for my PS2(haven't played it yet as I'm into God of War 2).

And though my eventual purchase of a PS3 is a given, news like this make me more likely to wait until it is really cheap - about 4-5 years from now. - Heck, at that time, it will still have 5 years left in its life cycle according to Sony.

1.) That "only possible with the power of PS3" no longer fools anyone guys; it's known to be an elicited(likely paid) response by Sony. Look at how many "exclusives" Sony's lost to the 360, that were once "only possible with the power of the PS3". Assassin's Creed anyone?
2.) There's absolutely NOTHING about this game that will push the limits of the 360 or PS3...and if Capcom decides to port it to the 360 (and they will), it will be a flawless transition.
