TPCG: BattleForge Review

It's frenetic, gorgeous to watch, even better to play and goes some way to buttoning the holy grail of games development; being easy to learn and infinitely difficult to master. But what's impressed TPCG most is the seamless way Phenomic has grafted card trading, realm of the uber-geek, onto an original RTS game with a highly original MMO-style hub underpinning the entire experience.

You might not be forced to buy any more cards than those that came with your BattleForge purchase, but TPCG would be very surprised if the booster decks alone don't pay EA huge dividends. After 27 March there will be a glut of traditional RTS gamers wondering why and at what point they became obsessed with the number of ultra-rare cards in their deck.

EA's Battleforge Lives On - Brought Back to Life with Skylords Reborn

Theshigen writes "Battleforge was a rather novel idea. It combined collectable card game mechanics with real-time strategy, something new and fresh back in 2009. It's been re-released today as Skylords Reborn. A fan-made project that's made the gamer, completely free."

1RBC: This has been a pretty exciting week for game news- this week, Sony announced that they'd be cutting off Playstation Now support for the Vita, PS3 and every other device that's not a PS4 or PC, some big announcements came out of Nintendo regarding DLC for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as well as more details about Splatoon 2, and EA has handed over (partial) control of the card/strategy game BattleForge to their fans- all this and more on this week's episode of 1RBC Gaming Weekly.
