I hope Windows 7 is going to be what they say: as Vista should've been. Nice article Kalos.

kalos6265d ago

Thank you. I'm glad of the praise. Should be fun to see how things pan out in the end of it all when the game is released, but I'm happy Xordiah didn't yell and throw stuff at me when I asked her for her help :D Fact for the all: Don't upset your Blizzard Rep, feed them chocolate instead!

Cogo6265d ago

Yes, the article is nice. And if Windows Seven is NOT what Vista should be, I think we'll all start buying macbooks or learning Linux...

Dorjan6265d ago

I agree! Windows users are really starting to lose faith.

I just hope that windows 7 really does do what windows should be doing.

Leord6265d ago

Hehe, I'm trying to delay buying a new PC until the new Windows is out. Unfortunately, I assume that even if it's very well made, it will still be a while before bugs are weeded out. I am not traditionally an early adapter, I want things that work!

xwabbit6265d ago

W7 is an improvement of vista, heard it may actually be good.

danarc6265d ago

@1.4

I think if you buy a Vista PC now, you get to upgrade to W7 free when its released, I done that with my XP PC, bought it late and get Vista mailed to me :)

I did what I could with this article, sadly I'm pressed for time with other things right now. Hopefully this helps a great deal of people, its why I think up and write these things.

Leord6265d ago

It was actually quite useful, very nice.

Cogo6265d ago

Yes, it's good. I don't think I've seen an article from that author that wasn't good.

Leord6265d ago

It's quite interesting to get an insight in exactly how things like OS compatibility works for older games.

I just say that because I like to play lots of old games, including SC1 and HoMM3 =)

kuangtu6265d ago

I'm not really into Tech, but my experience is some DOS games are hard to run on Vista and sometimes XP. I love some of those games, they are simple and full of memories. I hope Win7 is more compatible with all the old applicants and games.

kalos6265d ago

Iknow what you mean. Nothing like booting up Xcom or Monkey Island One even on Windows Seven Beta just to enjoy the good old times.

kuangtu6265d ago

thanks. of course we always can find some way to make things work but it's not really convenient. Some of my favorite softwares doesn't work on Vista. I need to install XP again to some other section of my HD. =/

Leord6265d ago

Yeah, the DOS box and other software are not 100% compatible with Vista. but that's what we're all whining about anyway =P

Vista is just not up to par.

Azymn6265d ago

DOS games generally run fine in DOSBox, even on Vista x64 (which I have). Sometimes they need tweaking, but you can almost always get them up and running. I use it for Master of Orion 2.

kuangtu6265d ago

woot. It's finally out.

I think SC2 will be fine on Win7 if Blizzard want this game last as long as SC1.

Leord6265d ago

As Blizzard say themselves, it's the way they have handled previous operating systems =)

Fyzzu6265d ago

Eh, should work okay then, even if they're not saying it in so many words.

kalos6265d ago

Indeed. I saw it as not wanting to commit themselves to supporting until it has been tested through and through on at least the Release Candidate to know that it'll work without problems, but they'll be doing everything they can (and shouldn't take much effort if any as the article explains) to make sure that Starcraft II works not just with what we have now but what is going to be the mainstay of OSs in the very near future.

Was aware the iconic Starcaft IP was jumping to South Korea ....

jznrpg422d ago

Weird MS is letting go of a good IP. I don’t mind it but hopefully the best dev wins and I’m not sure who that is outbid those.

Sonyslave3422d ago (Edited 422d ago )

What they are bidding for are exclusive rights to develop the IP. Microsoft/blizzard is essentially licensing it out to the highest bidder, not selling the IP.

B5R422d ago

I wonder if we'll see Starcraft Ghost come out of this. And if we do, I wonder if it'll be a free-to-play gacha game.

goken422d ago (Edited 422d ago )

Given the potential developers, looks inevitable there will be free to play gacha versions. But given south korea’s love for starcraft there would be one that is inline with starcraft 1&2.
Might want to expect some sort of backdoor cheat that only south koreans know of lol 🤣

Profchaos421d ago

Nah that's long since dead and gone it's only good is a leaked Dev build

'StarCraft: Remastered', 'StarCraft II' Now Available on PC Game Pass

This week, Blizzard Entertainment dropped both 'StarCraft: Remastered' and 'StarCraft II Campaign Collection' into PC Game Pass.

meganick564d ago

Hopefully these get released on Switch and Playstation, along with Age of Empires. There’s a severe lack of good RTS games on both those platforms.

waytoobad563d ago

if only they didn't raise the price 500% last year.

Let the COD on GamePass experiment begin!
I would think their quarterly revenue will take a hit compared to a year ago, but will maybe make up for it throughout the year as the monthly GP subs keep coming in

pwnmaster3000588d ago

Was up with call of duty man?
I downloaded cod on gamepass and for some reason I cannot access the game.

darthv72588d ago

just curious what version? There are some that you can pre-load, but they wont work until their release date later this month.

pwnmaster3000588d ago

I have to redownload it again for the 3rd time to check.
I ended up just deleting it to make room for other games after the second time.

It was on Xbox game pass, I didn’t know there was other versions. I just downloaded everything, but sadly I couldn’t even access the game. Maybe 3rd time the charm. I’ll download it again.

SPEAKxTHExTRUTH588d ago

It’s not out yet man unless you’re talking about MW3.

pwnmaster3000588d ago

I’m talking about mw3. For some reason I could not get it to work.

just_looken588d ago

On xbox there is the last gen/current gen versions pc though you could also get a xbox version.

When that new forza first came out for one day they had the xbox version on the pc store i was like ? what it was odd.

On xbox you can easily download the one version of a game instead of the series version so you run into issues on your series console.

pwnmaster3000587d ago

Because a game won’t run after I download it??
Man your kids must hate your @ss if that’s how you think.

It's going to be very interesting to follow up on how the new entry of CoD will perform at the box office, player numbers and distribution of Xbox, PC and PS versions this year.

DivineHand125588d ago

I got excited thinking they ported StarCraft to consoles but it's just the PC version. Also, I thought Starcraft 2 was already free to play.

TheColbertinator588d ago

I'm certain it is going to be the Campaign Collection version.
