well put it this way, MS bash Sony 85% of the time, while Sony rarely ever mentions the 360, only what services they provide, e.g "Access PSN for FREE to play online against your friends!", showing what they offer without mentioning the 360 at all.

Ohh wow.. how can this be!??? now don't go and cut your wrist now that you have discovered that Sony did not.. invented everything.. or built everything from the ground... but that they also acquire companies in order to get stay competitive.

However, Microsoft isn't going down without a fight. The Xbox is the first hardware they've really been able to have success with. (Not software. Don't confuse it.)

Now that 3rd party developers aren't doing exclusives, Microsoft will have to continue paying...which is something they can't afford right now. Sony has built up their studios throughout the years...as well as their relationships with developers like Insomniac, Sucker Punch, Kojima, and Nomura's Kingdom Hearts studio. Luckily, they bought Naughty Dog...arguably the most talented of the Big 3. (Naughty Dog, Insomniac, Sucker Punch)

Also, Microsoft isn't acquiring companies. They are paying them off to get exclusives. They only have one or two studios left to make games for them...Rare being one of them. How promising does that sound to you?

It doesn't look like the PS3 will be slowing down any time soon.

Sony was arrogant towards it's consumers before the PS3 launched. So far, M$ is only arrogant towards sony. I don't really care how much they yell at each other, and nobody really should. It's once they start saying things like, "people would buy an empty box if we sold it to them," that the consumer should be upset.

Unless of course the company is lying in its arrogance, which could potentially be slander, at which point the consumer has a better right to be upset.

I agree i dont really care what in the world they do to each other(Sony and MS) just provide for the consumers and make them happy and thats all i care about. I own a PS3, 360, (actually two Xbox 360s) and a wii. I am not a fanboy and call it as I see it. I personally prefer the 360 for a) better games, b) better controller, c) better online play. If my favorite game ended up being a PS3 game, I'd admit it. But as it stands, I prefer the 360. I catch a lot of hell on this site because the PS3 fanboys are extremely touchy about the PS3, more so than the 360 fanboys. It just seems that this site is riddled with PS3 fanboys lurking. The 360 fanboys aren't near as bad. You are right that a true gamer has room for both platforms in their home. It doesn't have to be one or the other. I own a few exclusives for my PS3 but if a game is available on both platforms I'll buy it on 360 every time. Certainly glad I did with Fallout 3 because of DLC and the fact that I would much rather hold the 360 controller for 250+ hours than the PS3 controller. The PS3 controller actually hurts my hands after 2-3 hours. I have literally played Fallout 3 for 2-3 days in a row for 12-14 hours a day on the 360 with no cramping hands. Also, I got stung pretty bad by The Darkness for PS3. I loved the game and hit the Lower East Side bug between the 4th and 5th (last) levels. The 360 apparently had the same problem and a patch was released. I went as far as to call the game maker 2kgames about the issue and they basically said there wasn't enough interest in the PS3 game so they weren't going to patch it. Nice. My rule of thumb is to buy the 360 version of the game if it is available on both but had bought the PS3 as a bluray player, while it was the cheapest player on the market, and wanted to try a game for it. What a mistake buying The Darkness. But anyway, I had the console for over a year after that before I used it for anything other than a bluray player. Now I buy exclusives for the PS3 and play them, but it really isn't as fun as the 360. I don't think MS has anything to worry about with Sony right now.

Well said then, fair enough. I have no problem with console preferences, I just hate the rabid fanboys we are always trashing each other...and I'll tell ya, it can get brutal sometimes. It seems they want to compare everything now-a-days, I mean come on! Last week, they were comparing the Cryengine 3 tech demo reel!!! It is not even a full game, or demo, or gameplay trailer, it is a friggin' (<----love that word)tech demo!

I don't usually comment but it good to see people with some damn sense. I also prefer the 360 but I'll eventually pick up a PS3 because there are some games on there that look pretty damn good.....screw the Wii though.

People are realizing that there is nothing to play on the Wii, the 360's lineup isn't all that spectacular, and the PS3 is spewing exclusives left and right.

Unless you're really excited to play Halo...again...there's no reason to buy a 360 over a PS3.

Listen, stop using that as a defense. Being a 360 owner and knowing some people who have done the same, I will explain what gamers do when their 360 is broken (I am not talking on behalf of ALL gamers, just the ones I have talked to or read on forums, and ofcourse, what I did).

Mine got the red-ring, I sent it out. I bought an arcade 360 on a credit card and threw in my hard drive. A WEEK later I got my 360 back, it was brand new. Since I know have 2, I sold my other on ebay with some old games to make my money back. Thus, my 2nd xbox went to someone who DOESN'T have one and wanted to get one for a good deal with some decent games, like a christmas/birthday gift. Therefore, the 2 I bought actually went to me and ANOTHER consumer whose number doesn't get expressed on there behalf because they purchased it on ebay. I know MANY more people in my life that just waited for their 360 to return, never buying a 2nd one. The only reason I purchased a 2nd 360 was because it died a few days before Gears 2 came out.

You are not required to build a character in Mass Effect in order to play Mass Effect 2. But they are giving you the option to import your character if you choose. I don't know of any other series that does this, but I'm sure somebody will say it has been done before. We Mass Effect players pride ourselves on building awesome characters. One thing you can do with the Mass Effect game is start a new campaign and import the character with all the skills that you did build into a new campaign. You could keep playing and playing and build up a really cool and powerful character. But they've taken it a step further and allowed you to import that character into game 2 and possibly 3. This is one of the big deals surrounding the series so I seriously doubt this author's article about Bioware ditching the 360 and going PS3.

Does anybody even take into consideration that game makers are having a considerably harder time programming PS3 games than any other console in the past. This is one reason that games have been slow to launch with the PS3. It costs more time and money to build a PS3 version of a game than the 360, yet the 360 edition often outsells the PS3 edition of the game. Not cool, considering the thin profit margins these companies face as it is. Some games don't even break even for the game maker until they sell over a million copies. I read that the average games costs about $14 million to produce. That is a lot of coin if nobody likes your game.

I really hate the agree/disagree function of this website. You get a lot of fanboys clicking disagree and then you reread your post, baffled as to why somebody disagrees with what you have said. This Mass Effect post of mine for example. What is being disagreed with? The FACT that it would be impossible to export a game save from 360 to PS3? That is a straight up fact. How can anybody disagree with that?

There are a lot of fanboys on this website of PS3 in particular. If you so much as say anything negative about the PS3, you'll get 10 people clicking disagree. You are comparing apples and oranges. These are completely two different scenarios and eras. You actually forget that the PS2 had already WON the console war before Halo 2 was even printed. Microsoft should be commended for overcoming ridiculous odds to even get the original Xbox off the ground. But, the fact was the install base of the PS2 was astronomical. We ALL owned one (which makes the PS3 decision to recall backwards compatibility baffling) Microsoft learned from those mistakes..flipped the scenario and now as a developer it’s almost impossible to ignore the 360’s install base as well as the fact that there have been MONSTER sales from the likes of Halo 3, Call of Duty 4, and GTA4.

It’s safe to say that Sony would have loved for Killzone 2 to have been the next Halo 3. But how can you say that because it didn’t sell well that Sony has the bigger picture. It’s safe to say that at the end of 08 thru today Sony threw all of their cards into LBP, Resistance 2, and Killzone 2. While Microsoft countered with Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Left4dead, Halo Wars, Star Ocean 4, and Exclusive DLC from GTA 4, Fallout 3, Fable 2 etc. If you look at the successful sales of the majority of those games, massive console 4th quarter for the Xbox followed by the sales momentum through today..it’s easy to say the it was actually Microsoft who ALSO had the bigger picture.

Just reread your statement and you will see that this has always been a weaker argument against the Xbox 360. How can you possibly begin to say that the Xbox ‘relies too heavily on 1 or 2 franchises’…but in the very next statement use MGS4, Killzone 2, God of War 3 as examples of the franchise that Sony and the PS3 heavily rely on. The two games that mean everything in the world to PS3 as we speak are Uncharted 2 (which we all know the first one is still bundled with the 160gb PS3 SCU) and God of War 3. Bottom line..they BOTH rely heavily on franchises that have brought their console success. We all know that sales make great games…but mega sales for exclusive games are great signs for any console.

Again, these are just additional reasons why M$ isn’t scared this time around. They have had a brilliant strategy to keep themselves in the game. Re-forming Ensemble and creating a new developer that will support the successful Halo Wars in the future with content and a possible sequel is a impossible stretch to say M$ should now be scared. Relying on Multi-plats has been an amazing success as well. Even now, nothing on any of the other consoles has remotely stopped me from buying Resident Evil 5, F.E.A.R. 2, and Guitar Hero: Metallica on day one.

But, I honestly think all gamers who own the 360 and PS3 should be happy about what’s coming to both of their systems.

You would understand that no the PS3 ISNT just warming up, nor is the 360 running on fumes. You would also be-able to further understand why gaming computers, which blow both the 360 and PS3 out of the water, continue to use multi-cored, multi-threaded processors. I agree with Someanimals last statement. If any of us wanted a PS3 we could easily just go buy one, so your superiority complex is misplaced . The one and only truly bad thing with the 360 is the reliability. My launch box still works but the same cannot be said for everyone. However i wouldnt expect such a weak system like the PS3 to malfunction considering it cannot have a thermal output more than 5-10 degrees fahrenheit. Sony's first console came out seven years before the xbox. Thats just a stupid comment. By typical standards your claim just reinforces that Microsoft is an incredible success. Hardly any other company that was introduced THAT late to its respective market has such a high share of the market. So if you didnt make the connection, that means Sony has LOST a huge portion of their market. While Microsoft's share has continued to steadily increase. Nintendo is an entirely different animal, as you could guess, it was in the gaming industry WAY BEFORE any of the competition.
Please try not to forget that Microsoft also has Gaming for windows, and that all Sony computers come with windows. Microsoft is doing very well for it-self. The gaming idustry is practically something they are "just doing for fun" and they have been a huge success, considering they are currently Out-selling SONY's PS3.
