Im sure if it was published by nintendo it would of sold a million by now since they know how to market their games...........at least their non violent ones anyway

The problem with this selling bad is that it will discourage devs to make more hardcore Wii games which is kinda sad

While bad games like Wii fit sell like crazy. Well wii fit is not really a game more like a gimmick.

Because 3rd party games don't sell on the Wii only 1st party games like Wii Fit, Mario, and Zelda sell that console not the other way around.

Same usual crew here bashing.......but to be honest have any of you actually played Madworld? the game gets boring and quick but its still a lot of fun. The gameplay is great but ill be honest there is way better and more interesting games to me coming this year than Madworld.

The problem with the sales is not the game though or the "casual" market not buying the game its the "hardcore"s fault for not buying the game. How many of the core gamers on this site have bought this game?

Thats the point when core gamers complain there is no core games on the wii with mature content, then a good game comes out in that category, the people who were complaining still dont buy Madworld.

Before any of the wii bashers talk go buy the game since you are always complaining about core games on wii. You are the problem for not buying what you complain about.

I think most of us know why... Only the hardcore Wii fans in denial won't acknowledge it.

Wii hardware and game sales are dictated by the core fanbase which was Nintendo's initial target, the casuals.

I'm pretty certain that games like Madworld will not sell well ever if developed on the Wii.

Did anyone actually think a game like this would sell on the Wii? the Wii is for kids who are to young for such a game & for seniors who use it for workouts and aren't into bloody violent games. Samething with the recent article of GTA China Town wars not selling on the DSi, again how many adult gamers actually use a DSi for gaming ( outside of Japan who could careless for a GTA game )? When you release games on platforms aimed at and marketed towards children and the casual gamer titles like Madworld & GTA CTW won't sell.

No one takes the Wii seriously. I haven't played mine since I beat Zelda, that was a year ago.

So madworld bombed huh? I believe that is what you are saying about killzone 2 huh? There are no official numbers and we all know Wii gamers buy what they like and they take their time. The game is out and that's all that matters.

As more and more games come out more people will be sure to check this title out. The art is actually very very good. It's more of a FF type of game than a NMH type of game which is good.

This was a good first outing for P on this system. The base for this game will get bigger from what I'm seeing. Mad world will do just fine. Every one is just being picky right now.

Because the targeted demographic was towards casual gaming, kids, women, families, basically people who who don't usually play video games. This game, although a breathe of fresh air in terms of type of game compared to the rest of Wii games, is not what Wii owners are looking for.

lets look at Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3, its sales aren't the greatest, now madworld on the wii looks to be the same. while sonic games (and there increasing level of mediocrity) continue to sell decently (not great but better) to me it seems the company doesn't want to invest in marketing its product in regards to its new IPs (possibly becuz new IPs are risky??) and rather pushes sonic ads which are in loads of game mags and kids comics (i know i work at a book store)

which really is a shame as those two games are definitely underappreciated, and certainly deserve more playtime than something like sonic unleashed :\

I got Madworld on release day and i think its awesome fun, its nice to see a more mature game on Wii, maybe the fact it didnt sell well could be coz it was in the newspapers and they made it out to be far worse than it is. HOTD did well and loadz of other more adult games have done well on Wii.

Madworld is suffering from a pure lack of intrest in Nintendo IMO. It may sell well after a while (Wii games are known to have long tails) Wii gamers are not the type to buy games on the launch week, were talking about mom and grandma here lol.

Personally, I just outgrew Nintendo and that is why I gave up supporting them. Back in the day (NES/SNES days) I loved Nintendo, they had lots of great games , kiddy games,semi-mature games, violent games (for the time) They gave me everything I wanted from games at that point in my life.

Im 29 now, and I, along with many others in my generation just feel that when Playstation came out that Nintendo abandoned us for the kiddies. They just were not making games that were growing up with me anymore. The first time I saw Twisted Metal on PS or Tekken it was over. I was now going to get my gaming fix from a console that respected that I was ready for the next level.

I bought 64 when it came out and it was the first console I was dissappointed with. I was so excited to explore 3D worlds and when i ran around every inch of Mario 64 for the first time I was happy but also found the world to be lifeless and empty. No epic secrets to be found, just boring polygons with less character than their 2d counterparts. People went all nuts over Zelda 64 I was a HUGE Zelda fan and I didnt get it..... A link to the past pissed all over Ocarina in my opinion but hey whatever. A part of me was starting to doubt if Nintendo was going to deliver experiences that I was looking for.

I kept giving them a chance, I bought 2 Gamecubes, I bought a Wii.

I sold the Wii about 6 months ago, it had collected more dust than any other $250 item I have ever owned. At this point I find Nintendo to be arrogant, closed minded, greedy & out of touch with Hardcore gamers. Nintendo could have kept me, but it wanted grandma and Mom & little sister instead. Well now they have them and guess what, Those girls dont buy games like we do. I may have bought Madworld but now im done with Nintendo. I will never buy another console or game from them. They can have grandma.

It will sell, just slower, thats not a bad thing.

But when one of the continuous top sellers for the console is Wii Fit, what do you expect? The majority of the audience for this are on other consoles.

Its a new title aimed at a Mature audience on a console that does better with shovelware, party games, and Nintendo franchises. This was a huge risk for them to take.

I know that there are more Wii's out there in homes than the other consoles, but I think they should have thought things through a little bit before releasing this game only on the Wii.

probally because its on the wii it didnt sell much, sad to say but true, its an awesome game but no one will pay attention to it because besides the few hardcore gamers that own the system they will dismiss it,

also working at my job (gamecrazy)i hear parents get the wii so their kids dont play violent games, so games like manhunt and madworld arent bought i guess by that audiance.

it amazes me that in the games defence, people are saying "it's a great game, have you played it? i dont think so.." etc etc but the point is that it probably is a good game, this is discussing why it's selling less than expected and it's simple; You only have to look at what sells well on wii to understand what the users want, and as mentioned, alot of people who think this game looks good seem to be ps3/360 owners, but would be reluctant to buy a wii just for 1 hardcore game.

There is no point having a 'casual' system with a few hardcore games because by being a 'casual' system the fanbase is casual and they want casual games. Likewise a system that purely offered the more 'hardcore' games are not going to have amazing sales for any games that are more casual - the thing with the ps3/360 however is the game libraries are so varied that there really is plenty of stuff for any type of gamer

I could go on but i'd say it's pretty obvious why a hardcore game wouldn't sell well on a 'casual' system even if it was the best game ever. And it's not bashing the wii, it's discussing why the sales are low.

Because huge numbers of Wii owners are either 30 somethings that have never played a Metroid or a Zelda in their lives and only know who Mario is thanks to sheer saturation and another huge chunk are children. The number of people who own a Wii and are interested in games like No More Heroes and MadWorld is not a large number when compared to overall Wii sales.

Who really expected Madworld to sell millions? Not Wii owners.. Sony fanboys want to try to build up Madworld as equal to Resident Evil, Gears of War, and Metal gear solid? Kinda pathetic dont you think?

I'd say the around 300k its sold so far is well enough for Sega and Platinum games. When I hear its a flop from them I'll believe it bit right now its just a bunch of pathetic fanboys that didnt buy the game either trying to turn it into something it isnt.

It's cool game I guess, mature games does not always equal blood and violence though. I would think it's more of a teenager thing, you know, playing the games that people say you shouldn't.

Thats a shame, I really feel bad for the developers who worked hard on this to get this kind of respect is sad. This should be a #1 wii priority and after playing it from gamefly for a good 3 hours, I have to say its better than anything the wii has. It just shows how many hardcore wii fans are left. If Nintendo wants to give up on the people that would always buy there games and would be loyal always, the hardcore fans, then I am done with the wii and Nintendo.

Wow you guys most be bored yall no this game only been out about a week and a half right?The game great and as far as a millon seller i'd bet before the year up it will.Most games on the wii don't go on to sell over a million copys in it's frist few weeks.This isn't even in the states.I think some of you fanboys are jumping the gun...by the way why would some of you guys want this game to fail?Maybe you guys think cooking mama won't show up on the ps3 or xbox.The way i see it,big budget games are on there way out.I would think we hardcore gamers would want to support games like madworld no matter what system its on.I guess i'm the only real gamer here.Wii games sell better over time and before you guys decide to label me as a nintendo fanboy loyalist i have all 3 platforms.

I didn't read every comment, but of the plenty I did read I'm surprised this key little fact wasn't mentioned:

The timing of it's release. It kinda came around when some of one of its target demographics (college folks) had finals or mid-terms coming up, and it wasn't during during the holiday season or sold as some kind of summer blockbuster. I seem to remember that No More Heroes didn't sell well initially and then sold plenty well over the course of the year, especially during the holiday season. Wasn't it also the case for Little Big Planet? Wasn't everyone calling it a flop until the holiday season? I'm just saying, it will be a huge seller by the end of the year.

Wii games usually have "long legs" in terms of sales. They rarely have huge debut sales. Let 6 months pass before make any judgements.

I'm wondering though when was the last beat em up released on the HD systems? These are the same guys who made god hand which no one hardly bought also. This was for the PS2 which you all claim you had and was so hardcore.

Like some one said above even the hardcore games on the HD systems are no longer selling that well. It's almost like you guys are hardcore but not the kind that supports lots of game types.

Madworld will do just fine. It's note bombing either. It got good reviews and people are buying it. I'll wait till the numbers come out then say some thing about that. After that I'll take a look back a year later. The Wii works off of people coming over and trying a game out. That's why games sale so slow and then end up million sellers.

I didn't buy the game because of the short length. I like to spend weeks or preferably months with a game so would have been a waste for me. It will probably do well enough tho, its still too early. Funny how the spotlight is so intense on Madworld? Its not like the game had off the chart reviews anyway, it got average so why is this game the measurement by which all 3rd party games should be judged? I am playing Rune Factory now and haven't had this much fun since fable or oblivion. The wii has good games but they are seldom praised and are underrated for the most part.

GTAIV is suppose to be the holy grail of '08 for the so called hardcore systems. I bought it and it sucks. I should have just dusted off vice city and played that instead.

SSBB sold 8 million copies, take away a few mill due to it's casual appeal, but it still sold a lot.

Just give MadWorld time. CoD5 sold only 40,000 in it's first week, but now its a million seller. That's how hardcore Wii games are. They start off slow, but then pick up.

You can defend the gimmicks Nintendo gives you.

The game just is not fun to play. Everyone says the wii has a small amount of "hard core gamers\adult gamers" who don't like M rated games. Why then did RE4 do so well? Why did REUBC do pretty good? Also house of the dead did good and there are others read in the above comment. So to say the wii does not have a large hard core gamers who like M rated games is well not a fact. There are plenty. Just not enough good M rated games on the wii that are worth buying. Thats the fact.

It sucks that there was a medium between to Wii players but what can you do. You certainly can't discredit a fun and addictive game because of pityful sales.

Releasing MadWorld exclusively on the Wii is like Apple releasing iPods exclusively to senior citizens. Having a LARGE userbase is one thing......knowing WHO your userbase is, is another.

I do have a Wii but I had no interest in playing MadWorld on that system. I reserve Wii for games such as Punch Out!! I would have considered MadWorld on Xbox 360 or Playstation 3 as a $39.95 budget game.
