New Mass Effect 2 Alpha Off-screen Footage

During the "Iterative Level Design Process of Bioware's Mass Effect 2" panel at GDC 2009, a few videos were shown to illustrate just what BioWare's process is for, well, designing levels for the sequel to last year's well-received role-playing game.

Is it just me or did that look like the chase in Star Wars episode 2

Cenobia6270d ago (Edited 6270d ago )

I can't wait for Mass Effect 2! I'm holding on to my ME1 saves like they said to see what's up with that. I liked how they use that lil' music at 0:35 on the first video. It's a song from ME1, I always liked it. About these videos, definitely looks realy earlu build like the title says. Wasn't too excited about these but great to look at nonetheless.

The combat looks much more intense and faster and I really dug the Blade Runner/Fifth Element cut scene in the car.

Game looks amazing for early development. Guess that OXCGN site got its wish despite the naysayers.

Nice! I saw N7 armor on the character in the cutscene. Hopefully it's Shepherd. Notice how they included no dialogue for the man? The subtitles would've confirm whether it was Shepherd or not. It seems we have a Asari companion. Does this mean Liara is gone?

EDIT:
For all the haters, this is just showing the level design and transition, it is not the final product.

NDN_Shadow6270d ago

It could be the consort in Mass Effect 1: Sha'ira.

lord_of_balrogs6270d ago

No the subtitles call her Seryna.

Columbo6270d ago

Looks amazing! Can't wait. Hopefully the release date doesn't slip to holiday 2010.

Bro missing companions: Legion, Grunt, Samara/Morinth, Javik, EDI

anast534d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine534d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast534d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman534d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast534d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave782d ago (Edited 782d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
