All aboard the new train people, it seems to be a hype these days to abandon things that are popular or common.

First people dump internet explorer in favor for Firefox, and now that Firefox has a good share, look what comes around the corner, its the Chrome lobby.

Sure, lets choose Chrome and not have all the adons that i love to use in Firefox, and at the same time have it report every move i make in the web back to Google HQ, heck it even reports every single keystroke i make in the adress bar back to Google HQ. Chrome may very well the most snoopy browser ever.

Thats not what i want in a browser.

Until Chrome allows me to install all the add-ons I have currently installed on Firefox, I will not replace it as my daily browser. There, I said it.

Over the past couple of weeks... Firefox keeps crashing on certain articles when i click comments on this site, but it doesn't really matter with the restore previous state (Even though, it crashes, again, kinda like windows huh?)

I've got chrome, and I still prefer Firefox, and with such a large fanbase, don't expect it to go down without a fight

Personally, I don't use any add-ons in FireFox, and Chrome runs a lot faster on my computer. I prefer Chrome, but that's me.

Opera had all these features before all these other browsers that are only just getting now.

I'd have to say Opera is the best, looks like FF but very streamlined, doesn't crash when you have addons in it.

Shame that's it's the most under used browser.

Sorry dude, Chrome needs to improve a lot more before it is able to catch up with Firefox.

Chrome is great but I don't like how you have to save every file you click on. Is there a way to make it so you can also open the file directly from the web?

I used FF for a few years, and overall liked it. But as of late I was having a few problems, so I switched to Chrome and haven't gone back. I'd sure like some add-ons, but I'm surviving thus far. Both are good browsers, and completely dominate IE.

Chrome, as a piece of software for rendering web pages, is excellent. However, it's lacking a lot of basic features that makes it a good browser.

Firefox, on the other hand, does a pretty damn good Job of rendering the internet (and 3.1/3.5 is going to do an even better job) and has an almost unlimited scope for expansion. Extensions make the browser what it is.

Opera is a great "everything but the kitchen sink" solution that many will like.

IE is.....IE. It's behind them all, but slowly getting there.

This article is poppycock, another one of those "Ohhhh something NEW! Lets abandon everything else and go with shiny shiny new thing!" deals that'll fizzle out in a few months. Chrome is great, but it's got nothing to make it the only sensible choice for a browser, it's just more competition.

I had one issue from the start with firefox , but it's mainly my fault . It's a memory hog , and ever since i got used to tabs i now use many . But firefox also had the nasty habit of accumulating stuff in the memory , to a point where i'd get to 400-500k .
It was slowly fixed through various build , but it's not good enough and fast enough .

So far chrome seems faster and lighter for me . only it's lacking many options , and well cant run right now under win 7 beta .

...with add ons. I will never fully understand those who keep saying "when they add add-ons, I might consider switching." The reality of it is, the add-ons are already here if you're willing to take the time. If you aren't willing to take the time, then I don't understand why one would still take the time to post about it.

The developer version of Chrome has the equivalent of Greasemonkey support... for blocking ads and doing all sorts of other useful things.

If you're the paranoid type, and have avoided adding things like the Google Toolbar to Firefox, then maybe you just want to stick with Firefox. Otherwise, Chrome is currently the equivalent of Firefox with the Google Toolbar... then made 10 times more efficient. Otherwise, the paranoid types could always run Chrome in "incognito" mode... which does not use Google for search suggestions... and does not store the history, cookies, etc...

I use Chrome 99% of the time. Every once in a while there is certain functionality that isn't completely supported by Chrome (like my company's VPN)... but these times are rare. For most sites, Chrome works wonderfully.

Don't get me wrong... I respect Firefox. Firefox is awesome. It's skinnable, has an awesome add-on system, etc, etc... but it has been getting too bloated for my tastes. Chrome is headed in the same direction as Firefox, but keeping certain principles of speed and the user in mind. For instance, they are working really hard to make sure that add-ons are forward compatible with future versions of Chrome. This is unlike Firefox where half the add-ons no longer work when another major revision comes out, and you need to wait for the developers of each add-on to play catch-up.

...there is a great website to test out some experiments in Chrome. Many of the experiments (which were written before Chrome existed) also work in Firefox. Test these out in your browser of choice... if any don't work, or are slow, check 'em out in Chrome. Some are pretty neat, if you're into that whole "demo scene".

I think firefox needs to deal with their memory usage issues. I love FF but the program ends up using like almost 200MB worth of system memory, and just sometimes jams on me. This has forced me over to Chrome. I love the features of Firefox and found it efficient, especially adblocker, but I cant stand the memory usage issues. I hope they fix it in 3.1

Firefox is still by far and away my favoutite browser and Opera is right behind it.

Chrome feels limited to me. When it has comparable add-ons, maybe I will install it again but not until then.

Now the browser fanboys are at it. I've tried Chrome and I didn't like the fact that there was no plugin support. When it gets reliable adblock, which I'm not sure it will since Google's whole revenue stream is ad-based, then I'll use it.

I would think that the purists would see the similarities between the corporate juggernauts that Google and Microsoft are.

They want to argue that Chrome is a superior browser, and the only reason they can give is "Firefox doesn't feel right anymore".

If Chrome put in extensions, Id give it another look, but even so, Firefox already has a massive catalog of extensions ready to install for almost any function you might want to give it. Yes it has that nifty separate tab/plugin processes feature, and sweet lord there are times I want firefox to have it but as it stands, there are extentions that I cannot live without, and I wont miss those 3 seconds I saved loading Gmail when Im on my deathbed.

Chrome don't feel right, it's just not there yet. But I do belive that FireFox has to keep on working, if they don't, well then Chrome will beat em in the end

I'm going with Internet Explorer 8. The perfomance is at the level of Firefox.

And IE have the advantage of superior compatiblity on all websites.

I used to be a Firefox user, but as soon as Chrome was released I tried it out and never looked back. I won't go into technical details, because I don't have that kind of knowledge, but I'll tell you how my experience has been enhanced by the new browser.

1. Tabbed Browsing Evolved: Sure, you could open everything in new tabs in Firefox, but Chrome takes tabs to a new level. For one, you can set it to launch with as many tabbed home pages as you want, so I set it to open with my gmail account, logged in so I have my email in a snap, and my google calendar. For a while, I had it open gametrailers at the same time, too. But home pages isn't the only advantage: everytime you open a new tab, there's a useful page that contains your most visited websites (in thumbnails), your most recent bookmarks, your most recently closed tabs, and your preferred search engines. Honestly, I never use the address bar anymore... but if I did, that's been enhanced too.

2. The address bar: type anything in there, and you'll be where you want in seconds. Either type a search query and you'll be redirected to google's search results, or wait a little, and it'll bring up the results of its search of your history and your bookmarks, or a few google search results. It practically knows what you want without you having to tell it, which makes the browsing experience faster. Speaking of faster, the interface isn't the only thing that's faster.

3 It's faster. It took me about 5 seconds after I launched Chrome for the first time to notice it is significantly faster than Firefox. Simply put: for a quick test, I'll click the firefox icon and immediately after I'll click the Chrome icon. I'll be reading my email in Chrome before the firefox window has even opened yet, and that's with Chrome's 3 home tabs open simultaneously.

Also, it looks much sleeker, and it wastes less vertical screen space. I could go on and on, but I realize I wrote a f***en novel already, so I'll just wrap up by saying: anyone who says they don't like Chrome simply hasn't used it or hasn't used it long enough--it takes time for it to gather the information necessary for the background stuff (points 1 and 2) to work.

How is this related to gaming in any way?

honestly, I like Chrome, but it runs at the exact same speed that FireFox does, and with the customization that you can do with FireFox, for me, I'm not switching for a while.

I like what Google's doing, and I think that once the browser get's out of beta, it will be great, but I'm not switching yet.

Chrome is nice but it is lacking many features and in customisation. Also on several forums I go to the reply area (like this comment) gets mucked up when you delete and re-type sections...it becomes unreadable. Has been the same since the BETA.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.
