better than? Oh I see what your saying. The sales have settled after the release of Gundam Muso - but they have settled at 32thousand instead of the 19thousand before hand. Shows what games do for a games console...:P

StrboyM7012d ago

and i suspect that it will only get better and better. I'm sure the wii wont fall off the charts. and given the success it has been so far they will have to do a lot more to justify the initial hype for it. nintendo has thier work cut out for them. but their geniuses so i have faith.....sony on the other hand must keep up what thier doing and prove that it is the offering that they said it was.....pay 600 for ______ heres the _______ i think they have started in the right direction and after this years E3 i think they will start seeing some real progress.

techie7012d ago

So as of the begining of March

Console Sales
Xbox 360 9,650,000
Wii 6,000,000
PS3 2,190,000

But that's not including this week I don't think. 360 selling well in US, but not Japan, ps3 selling well in Japan, but not the US. Pretty level...which makes that lead hard to catch up to.

If Sony is planning to be #1 this gen; is going to have to do better than "better" they have to double or even triple xbox 360 sells anytime soon. Specially in the US.

It's obvious that at this rate other consoles are not falling behind in term of sells.

techie7012d ago (Edited 7012d ago )

I agree. But I would like to say that I think the 360 has the US covered.

But when you're talking about tripling sales...well the ps3 is doing more than that in Japan 32,115 to 3,333. And since Japan is a third of console sales for Sony on every platform then they will rocket in Japan.

Problem area is the US...we'll see what happens in the rest of the world.

But really there's going to be three strong consoles this generation and I think that's a good thing.

The path the PS3 now follows greatly resembles the one the PS and PS2 followed. It's been a normal thing for developers to have trouble opening up the hardware Sony puts into their machines. I believe with time and exclusive releases Sony will begin to build momentum. Microsoft will continue to sell 360 at a steady rate. I dont see them giving up their lead for a while, if at all. The Wii I'm not too sure about. I've played a few times and I just can't seem to get excited about it. I think Nintendo is riding the a hype train that will slow down with time. That train can completely come off the rails if they run into the same issues with lulls in games being released, like in previous generations. No matter what ends up happening it will be years before a winner is declared.

"But really there's going to be three strong consoles this generation and I think that's a good thing." I agree.
I believe that thing may be divided in 3 different territories.
wii dominating Japan, 360 dominating the US and PS3 dominating Europe.
I can be wrong, but it seems like Americans are learning to accept the xbox brand.

remeber that when blue dragon was released xbox sales were at 35000, just like ps3 sales, I was expecting the ps3 sales to stay higher this week than what they are.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle28d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Crazy to think the WII is to the Switch 2, as the NES was to the WII back then. 20 Year difference.

My wife asks me to bust it out (heh) everyone once in a while to play bowling and tennis with the kids. There was a ton of slop on it but some good stuff as well.

Smellsforfree34d ago

Wii was great but boy howdy did it cause Microsoft to go on a dark walk with the Kinect and the disastrous XBox One launch that they arguably never recovered from.

Not nostalgic for me.. I was there.. anyone who wasnt a little kid realized it was a gamecube with shit tacked onto it, it was the "joke" system and was well below even the switch in terms of comparing it to the latest machines at the time. The machine was well loved by young people and "casual gamers" who now remember it 20 years on, or in most cases more of its sales came in the 15-20 years ago range not right at launch- but again its not nostalgic for people who were "gamers" then really, just for those who ended up with one in their house, the games , graphics, interface and online features were archaic already in 2006.
