Mass Effect 2 plot details revealed

CVG writes:

"The first Mass Effect 2 plot details have emerged after BioWare's horribly vague teaser trailer last month. Spoilers follow...

According to rather revealing product listing on Amazon, the second chapter in the Mass Effect trilogy "takes you to the darkest reaches of space, where you must uncover the mystery behind the disappearance of humans across many worlds.

"Prepare yourself for a suicide mission to save mankind. Travel the galaxy to assemble a team of soldiers and combat specialists, and launch an all-out assault on the heart of enemy territory"."

Hahahahha, hahahhaha you PS3tards aren't going to be playing this great RPG.

ceedubya96196d ago

Hopefully they clean up the technical problems that the game had. Otherwise, keep the same Bioware flare that we love and crank out another hit.

Looking forward to bringing my ME1 info over to this one.

DelbertGrady6196d ago

I'm replaying Mass Effect right now and to me none of the flaws are gamebreaking in any sense. The only thing that can be a bit annoying are the elevator rides, but I've installed it on my HDD so pop-ins and load times are greatly reduced.

I forgot about that. Bringing the ME1 save file over to ME2 =) Awsome!

SaberEdge6195d ago

Mass Effect is one of my favorite games of all time and no the technical flaws are not game-breaking but they are annoying and do detract from the experience a little bit. I really hope they get rid of the screen-tearing, texture pop-in and slowdown.

When will developers learn that it is far better to tone down the graphics in a game until they can run solidly and smoothly than to have an engine that is plagued with technical issues. No matter what kind of textures and lighting a game has, you can at least respect it for what it is if it runs smoothly and feels solid (no screen tear or texture pop-in).

I would love to see some graphical improvements in Mass Effect 2, but not if it comes at the expense of performance. Fix those performance issues, and only then after you have that stuff sorted out should you try to push the graphics further.

In any case, I can't wait for Mass Effect 2.

P.S. I would love to see a Jade Empire sequel. Bioware...are you listening?

Lord Vader6195d ago (Edited 6195d ago )

the damn game is so engrossing, after an hour or two with it i dont even notice the flaws = but yeah, i do hope they fix the pop-in most of all. If you install to the HDD it helps this issue.

Bioware Rulez.

P.S. I would love to see KOTOR III. Bioware...are you listening?

HighDefinition6196d ago (Edited 6196d ago )

For them to fix all the problems of the 1st and maybe add some online co-op. I`m playing the 1st right now and it has a ton of problems/annoyances.

Cherchez La Ghost6196d ago (Edited 6196d ago )

I enjoyed this game. What problems?! There is always something people complain about. People always b*tching and concentrating on the negative rather than the positive. People in Hell want Ice-water, but we don't always get what we want.

HighDefinition6196d ago (Edited 6196d ago )

So did I, It one of the better games I`ve played, that doesn`t mean it doesn`t have a TON of problems. That if fixed would make it even better.

Don`t be such a fanatical fanboy.

DelbertGrady6196d ago

Hmmm. Are you playing the PC version on a really old computer or is there something wrong with your 360? Not that I think you would own a 360 though, since you're almost always PS3 biased in your comments.

HighDefinition6196d ago (Edited 6196d ago )

:)

The big problems are this.

1. Texture Loading.
2. Elevator Rides.
3. Unpopulated planets.

Besides those MAJOR things, it`s perfect. It`s my Favorite WRPG, for sure.

DelbertGrady6196d ago (Edited 6196d ago )

Oh, my bad. Are you playing it off the HDD? If you have space I recommend you install it. Runs a bit smoother that way. What class are you playing? I'm playing as a renegade adept. First playthrough I was a paragon soldier.

I understand what you are saying but imo the lonely planets add to the eerie atmosphere of the game. Especially when you are driving to a destination in your Mako vehicle and a big monster worm pops out right in front of you. I hate those things =) But true, maybe they could have had more of both. Variation is always good.

HighDefinition6196d ago (Edited 6196d ago )

Straight Soldier, I was gonna use biotics but I decided I`m gonna go straight biotics the second time around. The story is amazing, I love the story and the feel of the world alot.

Edit: for some planets having "bare" planets would be cool, but a little more population wouldn`t hurt. Even places like Feros or Noveria.

Tony P6195d ago

Two related thoughts for me:

The bare planets got to me a bit too. I was pretty disappointed to find out the only unique civilisations you visit (besides the rare and somewhat cookie-cutter settlements during side quests) are directly connected with the main quest. While I fully realise that damn near ALL RPGs follow this trend, there are usually a lot more than 4-5 cities...on a planet. Never mind a galaxy. Tech limitations will sadly apply.

Second, if you are going to encourage exploration in your galaxy with barren environments, fill them with things actually worth finding. Far too many planets served as nothing but the next stop in a Pokemon quest for minerals/gasses/dogtags etc. A few planets had cool features (like the pyramid and the sphere) but these were by and large exceptions to the rule of boring.

I will summarize by saying none of this changes my stance on ME as the best console RPG I've played this gen. Hope ME2 simply expands on that greatness.

My main problem with Mass Effect is the planet discovering. All planets have the same gravity and almost every of them have no vegetation or living beings inside (there are still planets with life on it, like the one with purple monkeys, but it's not enough).

So as long as they avoid elevators and redo the exploration system, all will be fine. Mass Effect was a very good game and i keep playing it.

"My main problem with Mass Effect is the planet discovering. All planets have the same gravity and almost every of them have no vegetation or living beings inside (there are still planets with life on it, like the one with purple monkeys, but it's not enough)."

This is a massive problem for me as well as the texture loading. I wish it would just take a few more seconds to load.

Are_The_MaDNess6196d ago

"like the one with purple monkeys"

OMG that 1 i got 2 c lol

what is that planet called???

Sangria6196d ago (Edited 6196d ago )

The planet is Eletania, in Attican Beta, Hercules system. This is the same planet where you find a prothean orb that can be activated by the key given by the Asari Sha'ira in the Citadel.
(and fyi, the prothean orb is in the south west of the map, but i think it's indicated on the map)

tnx

il check it out 2night

Mass Effect works a lot better if you install it to the hard drive that should fix the lagging and load times in the game.

Mass effect was a fantastic game regardless of its minor issues. I am so looking forward t Mass effct and Bioshock 2 more than any other game.

HighDefinition6196d ago

It was a great game regardless of the problems, that`s why for 2 I just want them fixed. More populated planet would be a nice start.

ceedubya96196d ago

maybe they would do better by keeping the number of planets down to something reasonable. That way, they could concentrate more on making the planets that they have the best ones they could possibly make. I'd be fine with only going to 4 or 5 planets as long as they are different, look great, and offer a lot to do.

REALgamer6195d ago

Definitely helps with texture pop-in, but elevator loading times are identical unfortunately since they were hard-coded in. So even if the map loads in instantly the elevator ride will be exact same length. =(

I'm really looking forward to ME2, especially since they should now be more comfortable with the Unreal Engine 3 that caused most of the technical issues in the first game.

anast455d ago

Legion, Zaeed, and Jack are my favorites.

RiseNShine455d ago

To think that Bioware at some point was capable of doing games like this, you see those characters and remember them like good old friends, and now check ME Andromeda, Anthem, Veilguard etc and wonder what the hell happened.

anast455d ago

They lost too much talent.

IAMRealHooman455d ago

some in andromeda are decent, I agree with peebee and Vetra being good companions. Except Liam he's trash tier

anast455d ago

Liam lol I can't stand that dude.

"I started playing games yesterday" the List... Meh!

How about a few RPGs that deserve some love instead?
1 - Alpha Protocol - Now on GOG
2 - else Heart.Break()
3 - Shadowrun Trilogy
4 - Wasteland 2
5 - UnderRail
6 - Tyranny
7 - Torment: Tides of Numenera

And for a bonus game that flew under the radar:
8 - Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

DustMan703d ago

Loved Alpha Protocol in all it's glorious jank. Great game.

SimpleSlave703d ago (Edited 703d ago )

Not only glorious jank, but the idea that the story can completely change depending on what you do, or say, or side with, makes it one of the most forward thinking games ever. The amount of story permutation is the equivalent of a Hitman level but in Story Form. And it wasn't just that the story changed, no, it was that you met completely new characters, or missed them, depending on your choices. Made Mass Effect feel static in comparison.

Alpha Protocol was absolutely glorious, indeed. And it was, and still is, more Next Gen than most anything out there these days. In this regard at least.

Pity.
