ah great article! especially the end" psn/xbox live is the winnerB oth have their ups and downs, but both are great. Don't be a fanboy, appreciate both. We're sorry if we upset anyone out there."

I have a PS3 and 360.

And I don`t have XBL, it`s far to expensive. I was thinking about buying it, but instead I bought Mass Effect and Lost Oddessy for the same price. For what other services like PSN and PC offer for free, it doesn`t justify XBLs price.

PEOPLE, stop buying it and they make it FREE or atleast a far more reasonable price.

After the last round of updates on the PSN, there are only a few things lacking from PSN that LIVE has. Such as the fact that dashboard (same thing as XMB on PS3) controls the online system. Instead of each game doing it for itself.

But I don't think that will change because MS does their own hosting and the individual devs for the PS3 host for their own games. Or should I say MS charge YOU to host your own games and they just do the back end friends/chat/invites since most every X360 game is P2P based.

is the fact that it provides a uniform online interface that works with all games. The importance of this from a usability standpoint cannot be underestimated. It also offers Netflix but that's not a significant draw because of all the problems with using Netflix such as but not limited to:

-Unreliable and poor video quality for many users (check out the forums)
-Outdated selection of movies and TV shows (check it out before you whine)
-Dependence on good will of ISPs for survival (Pay-for-bandwidth is on it's way making it impossible for this kind of service to be affordable to consumers)

PSN, on the other hand, is a more robust and reliable service that can handle a much heavier load without failing. It does offer Home but at this stage Home does not offer enough compelling content to be a draw for most consumers. It also offers video downloads but, like Netflix, this feature will eventually be made obsolete.

So it comes down to reliability and an extra $50 in your pocket every year (PSN) vs a common online interface for all games (Live).

Who fvcking cares!!! They are both weak in comparison to the Wii's online and to what the Dreamcast had ;-p

And XBL is much better because you pay for it! Sh!t! it'd be even better if it cost even more money! Can you imagine Live at $100 a year?! It'd be twice as good! Are you hearing me Microsoft?

Im just kidding doinkies ;-P

ahhh i like your logic! so going by that you you will admit that the ps3 is a much better system because it costs more? oh thought not!.. let me just ask you a couple of simple things 1) is there anything remotely like home for xbl? anything at all? (not sure if you have ever used it but its ace and only getting better with time) 2) have you ever played a 60 player match on xbl? and for that matter what is the highest number?.... you really think they couldnt have charged just for these things alone?.. i mean everything else is the same really i can go online and play with friends but also i can visit home and chat with gamers and maybe meet new friens while playing mini games for free! then 60 of us can go play resistance 2.. and you have heard of mag right? i have to laugh at your comment really! just cos ms screwed you twice and keeps on screwing you! (rrod) (e74) and what is it 30 quid a year to not even do what i can do for free? lmao yep you keep on driving mate!

And how long have you been enjoying said features on the ps3?....and how long have 360 users being enjoying features on the 360? 1.)I know ps3 users who do not want or even care about home......shoot, I have not even downloaded it.....cause when I log onto my ps3..it is either to play games or watch movies....some people do not necessarily need a virtual social life...Home has to advance a whole lot more for that to be a worthy argument. 2.) Again...there are people who do not want 60 plus people in a map...and I have heard of the game Mag..but umm, have you played it? If not, then all you are doing is hoping it delivers. I say all that to say this....just because you get your kicks of the psn..that does not mean the price tag for live is not justified. I am fine with both networks...and can respect what both offer to me.

Didn't mean to echo the sentiments of Beware Oblivion...but since he posted while I was typing...I will leave my post.

dantesparda6193d ago

I've cancelled my Live subscription since Feb (it expires in the end of March). Not worth it, nope, not worth it at all. I've paid them enough, $150 for 3 years. No more! Fvck you MS, you aint getting anymore of my money. Besides i barely even play my 360 anymore (the thing is just collecting dust). No good games on it anymore. Peace fannies, and have fun fighting it out.

Peace!

snaz276193d ago

firstly let me just point out that i didnt hit disagree i never hit those buttons purely cos i cant be bothered pressing a button when i can diagree with words!.. ok you dont like home thats fine but not really what i asked now is it? i asked do you have anything like it on xbl? you did not answer cos that answer my friend is no! you have miis that do nothing whoop! whoop!.. and also you are very contradicting by saying yes the ps3 is better hardware but then later on saying that you would rather have a better system! there are more AAA games are there? guess you havent seen the articles that prove other wise and my friend i wont even start on exclusives which you and me both know sony is bringing out loads more than xbox due to the amount of in house devs! surely you wont argue this but probably you will... as for rushing out and buying my fave sony.. this is not true as before the ps3 i hated sony. ps1 i prefered n64. ps2 i prefered xbox. why? because the ns4 and xbox were both better systems in my opinion.

snaz276193d ago

but when it came to the ps3 i simply could not argue it was awesome. at first i bought the 360 as it was out first and i enjoyed it.. i had to sell it due to financial problems at the time.. when it came to buying another the ps3 was out so i waited and read as much as i could about both systems (although i had experience with the 360 and remember i hated sony consoles) but the more i read the more i liked and then i bought one (far from rushing out) the fact that you had an rrod just says it all to me! doesnt it annoy you that they shoved out a system knowingly with problems? it would me im just so glad i had to sell it and didnt get the rrod lol.. at the end of the day it is each to there own but still you say my reasons are rubbish yet come with non of your own? apart from chat which yes is a good feature but i for one wouldnt really use it to be honest.. home is an awesome feature that isnt a finished product and will never be finished thats whats so good about it.. as for using the pc version well i.....

snaz276193d ago

dont have a pc so that ends that one and anyway were talking about consoles here and what you can do with them.. its easy to say well use a top end pc and play out of this world games and all the other things you can do with a pc but thats the discussion is it plus quite an add on for a console isnt it lol.. you didnt like r2 ok thats fine but really putting a 6x6 game against 30x30 is actually quite embarrassing lol.. and again i was asking if its possible on xbl or whether there was any.. you say but its sown to the devs! oh right so can you tell me why have they not done it for the xbox? strange dont you think? and you know that if these features were on xbox you would shout about them!.. but cos there not there rubbish lol.. and one more thing i have to say is blu-ray! (xobox360 mulitidisk) oh by i guess that doesnt matter either.. it made me laugh because you were calling people idiots when they do have valid reasons for prefering psn or saying its better get me?

snaz276193d ago

were in my post did i say it wasnt worth the money? ok ill say it now it is not worth the money when i can do the same and more for free!.. ok now your comment about that is valid.. again you dont like home cool but i bet when it does get big you will download it.. i mean you could say people dont need games either but you play em.. all i was saying to oblivion is that people are not idiots for thinking psn is better as it does offer alot to people more than xbl in my opinion if you take home (whether you want it or not the option is there) and massive online games which brings me to mag.. you are correct i have not played it yet but the fact that its even possible is mind blowing!.. has anything came out saying its possible for 360? nope not yet and i doubt it ever will.. oh and does something have to be out for ages for you to enjoy it? my god ps3 has only been out for a couple of years and look what its doing! never ceases to amaze me.... the end lol

jBat176193d ago

the LAG is so bad, the response to a button you press takes 2 seconds. it's as if you are playing in the future and seeing the past. it's like a time-machine.

also E74 would be a better name for this service:

Even though this is probably a better article then 95% of the blogs that roll in through N4G, its still a blog and I still hate those.

Zeus Lee6193d ago

Right now, there's no doubt that Xbox Live offers more than the Playstation Network.

There's also no doubt that Xbox Live Silver members should have the ability to play their games Online.

Now go on and disagree with the truth =)

kewlkat0076193d ago

there is no doubt, Blizzard should not be charging to play Online.

But yeah, I get what your saying allowing silver members to play online would cause most to cancel their gold memberships, since the gold membership is based of that function and other little goodies..

Godmars2906193d ago

PSN is free, XBL has better in and out game communication. That's it.

heroicjanitor6193d ago

Is communication. Xbox live is far better at it, but psn's servers are better and can support a lot more players, they just need to sort out the chat functions and that's it, it will be a better service for free:P

N2NOther6193d ago

If the Silver accounts could play online then the Gold accounts would be moot. And thusly, as MS can afford to maintain the high standard of LIVE through the paid Gold membership. Otherwise, 360 users would have limited functionality so no, I don't agree that Silver should be able to play online. The day I feel like my $3.84 a month seems like a waste, then I'll agree.

tplarkin76193d ago

We get a great service. It's like cable vs broadcast. Broadcast is "open" and free, but it lacks features and channels. Cable is "closed" and has many channels and many features (like on-demand).

heroicjanitor6193d ago

The reason you pay for live is because you have to... Or else you are suddenly missing the main multiplayer feature of most games

pippoppow6193d ago

Gots to love people who don't want something free when its free elsewhere. Devoted to the end. You do now Live service is free for PC gamers.

N2NOther6192d ago

It's free for PC gamers because gaming has always been that way. To introduce a fee after years of it being free is commericially stupid. I have no problem paying, again $3.84 a month for a service that I see no real flaws with in terms of what I want from it.

At first I was like, No Code Veronica on the list!? But then I seen Mainline. The list checks out, but I would personally put 2 over 4.

KwietStorm_BLM9d ago

I'll take 2 over 4 also. And even without a number, I don't see how Code Veronica, my other favorite in the franchise, isn't mainline when it's the actual sequel to RE2.

Rebel_Scum9d ago

The original RE was the best. Its not on the list which makes no sense.

The remake of it was alright but should be higher on this list.

-Foxtrot9d ago

The original RE smokes VII and Village, come on.
