Klonoa: Door to Phantomville released for the original PlayStation more than 10 years ago and now development studio Namco has updated the title with overhauled graphics and a few extra content-related bells and whistles for Wii players. The stylish 2.5D platformer features fully polygonal environments, but movement is primarily restricted to the left and right on a 2D plane -- same as it always was. In fact, fans who played the PS1 effort in 1997 will find that the Wii update utilizes near-identical level designs minus some relocated enemy spawn points.
But the good news is that the revamped visual presentation -- gorgeously recreated backdrops with more fidelity, depth of field effects, newly crafted character models, advanced texturing effects for stunning transparent water, and more -- really adds ambience to the already-established play controls.

Take a look at some PS1 game prices that have really taken off over the past 2 years. Some are trending much higher, but a few have dipped recently and it might be your last shot to get them into your collection affordably.

Nahima of Gaming Rebellion looks back at PS1 platformer Klonoa and why its colorful, cute setting is so memorable.
Gamers will probably never see another entry in Namco's dreamlike platform action series, and that's a darned shame.
