Most likely timed exclusive it but doesn't matter. Its just another once 360 exclusive coming over to the PS3.

So much for CONFIRMED EXCLUSIVE! EA is obviously negotiating, it just wouldn't be in their interest to release it exclusive with the PS3s marketshare as big as it is, and growing to about half the HD console market. Imagine the PS3s marketshare in 2010?

Chances are, timed exclusive. I don't have a huge interest in this game since I haven't played the original, but it's nice news if it comes to the PS3.

Why can't they simply say "No, there will be no PS3 version, it's Microsoft-exclusive"? Should we expect an announcement at GDC?
And even if Mass Effect is nice, releasing a PS3 version of ME in 2009 will seem old, if a PS3 version is really planned, it shall be only for Mass Effect 2 then, just like Saints Row.

Considering the title won't be out by 2010 coupled with a potential PS3 price cut sometime this year, you don't think EA is going to publish this title for the PS3? The first title is published by Microsoft Game Studios so the chances of seeing the first one on PS3 is slim to none.

I think eventually you'll see the whole trilogy on the PS3 on just one Blu-Ray disc. But I think that all three will come out for the 360 before that happens.

Even if it doesnt come out on the PS3, big deal. Look at all of the great games, we as PS3 owners have coming. Its one game. I for sure would have 6 great exclusives over 1. Plus we have White Knight Story and Final Fantasy Versus 12.

I can never understand why company's try to avoid answer questions, just be honest,

"Yes this game is Exclusive to 360 as we signed a deal with MS", "No the game is not coming to the Playstation 3 because it cannot handle the graphics", anything but this pointless PR rubbish that irritates the hell out of me.

If Mass Effect 2 is coming to PS3, EA will announce Mass Effect at GDC or, at the very latest, E3.

If they don't announce Mass Effect by then, Mass Effect 2 on PS3 isn't happening.

If it is going to go to the PS3, they should release Mass Effect 1 and 2 in a bundle package to 'catch up', rather than being a year behind the 360 and PC in the context of the trilogy.

I wish PS3 owners would stop trying to undermine the brilliance of Mass Effect though. I mean, just because it isn't on your console at this moment of time, doesn't mean you have to try and take the shine off it to make yourselves feel better. Heck, MGS4 isn't on the 360, but that doesn't mean I'm going to say it's crap in order to try and justify its exclusion from my console.

That wasn't directed at all PS3 owners by the way; just the ones who are deliberately trying to undermine Mass Effect's qualities.

i am seriously getting tired of this. because in the back of my mind im considering getting a 360 or upgrading my PC to play ME and ME2, if neither one will ever come to the PS3. but since they're not giving us solid info, i have no idea what to do. i REALLY, REALLY have no idea what to believe, getting way too confusing. i've begun to hate this generation of gaming :(

i can only hope they are being vague because it's a timed exclusive and they are not allowed to confirm a PS3 version until the initial release on 360/PC has sold enough... like what happened with Bioshock pretty much.

...was a few weeks back(you can tell i don't follow xBox 360 games!!!) ;-D on YouTube. I watched a few gameplay videos and i'm not sure what all the fuss is about??? I'm not a RPG Fan anyway maybe that is why it don't do anything to me!!!;) I couldn't care less really, unless PS3 Fans want it then i hope they get it;)

Every day another bad news for the 360 (Ninja Gaiden 2 yesterday, RE5 sales the day before, Mass Effect only timed exclusive today), it's raining on microsoft right now.

I remember yesterday saying that I was going to argue semantics with the sensationalist article title "Cofirmed: Mass Effect not coming to PS3." Because, well, an absence of evidence is not the confirmation of non-existence. It's a logical fallacy: the confirmation was the existence of a 360 / PC version of the game, that does NOT confirm anything about the PS3 version at this time. I got a fair number of disagrees. Now, when EA is asked outright and given the chance to ACTUALLY confirm it this time, they opt for the "no comment." Again, they have not confirmed that there is no PS3 version of the game. I'm thinking it'll either be a timed exclusive for 360 or that they're waiting until next week to announce it at GDC and cause a bigger impact than announcing it in some otherwise generic press release.

publishers/devs have said time and time again. It's probably going to happen like almost every game this gen with only a handful of exceptions. Doubt ME will be one of them, but I suppose we'll see.

Considering sales of Bioshock and LP on ps3 i doubt any studio would want to bring games on ps3 after a release on 360. IF they dont release it at the same time then its bye bye time and money for a ps3 port.

Maybe EA is waiting for the PS3 price drop announcement? M$ would have to fork over a ton of dough to keep the game exclusive & you know EA is all about $$$. Once a price drop hits there will be plenty of shiny new PS3's in people's homes that could be playin ME 2.

Whats telling is ME 1 is not on PS3 and they haven't said anything about that. Not that they would HAVE to, but for those of you out there that played thru ME, you KNOW how important it is to have played the first.

ME was planned as a trilogy; its not Resident Evil or FF. It has an ongoing, building story.

I honestly dont know whether or not its coming to PS3, but EA published a little game called Left 4 Dead that continues to sell well yet is not being mentioned for the PS3.

Perhaps EA can get one of their other studios to port it over. Lets hope they do a better job of it than The Orange Box.

Still...it is amusing to see so much of the SDF really want this game.

Yesterday Ninja Gaiden 2, today Mass Effect... If PS3 takes one 360 exclusive every day, in 3 days we can have the whole 360 AAA exclusive library.

I'm sure M$ contractually locked the series with Bioware...and as we've seen with AIG...a contract is a contract...and just because you buy a company, it doesn't mean the contract is void. BTW, M$ is the publisher for the game series...just incase that escaped some folks. EA would probably have to pay M$ to release the games, and M$ WILL play hardball on this...they pretty much said so all the way back, when the Bioware deal was first announced.

Looks like its in the Bioshock situation where they can't confirm it due to timed exclusiveness.

If you think that Mass Effect 2 isn't coming to the PS3, you're just not thinking. Actually, it wouldn't surprise me one bit to see it as a timed exclusive on the 360/PC, and then to put ME+DLC+ME2 on one BD-ROM and sell it to PS3 owners. Regardless of if it happens exactly like that or not, trust in one thing; you are living FANTASIES if you think EA won't put this on the PS3.

To put it in another light, lets look at a recent EA game that came to 360 first, then came out better on the PS3 later. Red Alert 3 ringing any bells?

Even if it is only timed exclusive, why in the world will will you wait 6 months to a year to play a game. Do yourself a favor and get both systems as you can play Mass effect and then purchase ME2 on opening week.

I plan on getting Infamous, Alan Wake, GOW3, Halo ODST, GT5, ....etc..etc...on its release date and enjoy the games regardless of which system it is on or on first.

Remember the GTA series on PS2? It was timed exclusive and many people considered it full PS2 exclusive because by the time it is released on xbox, its hype, sales, and interest losses steam. Just look at the sales of Bioshock and Oblivion on PS3. Also, look at the poor sales of Unreal Tournament 3 on x360 after it was timed exclusive for PS3 for over 6 months, not that the PS3 version sold any better but it was released first.

I know PS3 fanboys will still disagree because it is their nature, but PS360 is the way to go and having the option of playing Halo Wars and Killzone 2 at the same time is great.
