
Resident Evil 5 undoubtedly pursues this more action-orientated audience, whilst trying to appease the long time fans. It does an admirable job of pleasing both parties, though the replay potential for those so inclined may be more limited than previous outings. But then, those previous outings on less capable machines were designed for gamers, and this "casual" audience may have found themselves stopping short of completion within games that intently work against the player. Pleasing both groups of Resident Evil fans was an inevitably difficult task, and in Electronic Theatre's opinion, Capcom have moved in the right direction for mass market appeal – an ideal which videogames have been striving to achieve for many years now.

New leaks from Dusk Golem detail cancelled Resident Evil projects, including a Rebecca focused Revelations game, while stating no Resident Evil 5 remake is in development.
Capcom's willingness to invest in experiments and scrap them sets them apart form many other developers (Nintendo have a similar methodology). Far too often companies push a game setting or game mechanic that is just not that good and the final product is middling or poor.

Dusk Golem claims a Resident Evil 5 remake is not coming this year, with a Code Veronica remake expected instead.
Hopefully if and when they do a RE5 remake, they give it the RE3 remake treatment, because this is certainly one title that I don't want a faithful remake of.
