so this is the upcoming announcement .. most people got it right

- Ghost of Sparta -6274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

Not surprised to see this. Ninja Gaiden Sigma sold very well on the PS3.

By "Sigma 2", they do mean Ninja Gaiden 2 right?

Ninja-Sama6274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

This was the only game I was envious of 360 owners having exclusively. Now I get the new and improved version! :D

@ GoS - I would assume so? Doubt they're going to make a new NG, I'm guessing NG2 with graphical improvements with camera and bug fixes but I could be wrong.

NDN_Shadow6274d ago

It won't be a port. Microsoft has the publishing rights to Ninja Gaiden 2, unlike the first Ninja Gaiden, and they sure as hell won't want to publish it on a competitor's console.

That said, Tecmo owns the IP, and I expect that Sigma 2 will be a new game that includes all of the new features in Ninja Gaiden 2 (Like the Scythe weapon, finishers, over-the-top gore, etc.) without the same story line/level layout of NG2. That and Sigma 2 might be an improvement if Tecmo decides to fix some of the issues of NG2.

eagle216274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

Ninja Gaiden Sigma ran buttery smooth 60fps on PlayStation 3. PS3 shows how Ninja Gaiden should be done. :)

TECMO ftw.

edit: hitting disagree means you want an apology from MS.

- Ghost of Sparta -6274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

Ah you're right I totally forgot that Microsoft published Ninja Gaiden 2. Well, if it's not Ninja Gaiden 2 then WTF is it?

Microsoft Xbox 3606274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

AHAHAHA sucks to be a 360 owner. Nothing really exclusive to their system anymore. LOLOLOL.

I'm willing to bet all the 360 fanboys shedding in tears right about now.

cLiCK_sLiCK96274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

Can someone confirm NGS2 a PS3 EXCLUSIVE? Or is it multiplatform?

EDIT: If you read carefully on the HIGH quality scan, it mentions Xbox 360. Hmmm... interesting. Could it be that it really is Ninja Gaiden 2? But then again, you guys are claiming that Microsoft owns the rights to Ninja Gaiden 2. So im a bit skeptical about that.
Can someone translate?

Chris Hansen6274d ago

Was reading the Japanese forums and found a better quality scan:

barom6274d ago

lmao I no longer have a game I truly want on the 360. Maybe Fable 2 but it's more like "it looks really interesting". I would probably like it though but since I've never touched the series I have no real attachement to it. Ninja Gaiden on the other hand is one of my favorite action games (actually it's only behind God Of War) and it has by far the most FLUID combat gameplay of all the action games (which was really the only thing it was truly great at). Okay not by far, DMC3 actually was really smooth as well.

Of course this is just my personal taste.

Bnet3436274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

Nice ...

Ninja-Sama6274d ago

you'll see an image from one of the NG2 trailers. Hmm, I know it's published by MS but that's pretty weird.

Why o why6274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

you truly are a stella type of guy. I know u have a both consoles but you've stated classy and n4g is truly lacking in class. +1 Personally Im not as giving as you though;) I believe exclusives should stay exclusive. Its almost like we just need one 'grey' console now. Exclusives build and strengthen identity. Soon there will be no real need for both and that might hurt one more than the other (all in reference to the hd consoles)

Edit @kigmal I now look crazy because you changed your comment:(

eagle216274d ago

The only question is NEW game or enhanced NG2? :)

RememberThe3576274d ago

It may be that MS has the rights to publish the game on their system. But the fact that TEMCO owns the IP means that they has full control over it.

It's like Mass Effect. If EA wanted to publish the game on the PS3 they could. Because they own the IP, they can do what they want with it.

Sarcasm6274d ago

NG2 was fun, but it felt easier than NG1 and the story was just as lame as ever.

PS3 fans, don't be afraid to try this out but don't expect it to win any awards for story development lol

But if they get this game to run 720p again on the PS3 with extra features, I might have to give this another go.

And unless someone can clarify for us by reading in Japanese, it's safe to assume that THIS IS NOT a PS3 exclusive. It could re-release on Xbox360 to try and spark the game sales again.

Montreafart6274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

When MiniMii said last year to expect Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2…the fanboys laughed and rated him down.

MiniMii is always correct in the end.

Saw this coming miles away too.

Technically, this is not Ninja Gaiden 2. Because the Gaiden series are bound by contract to the 360. However, Sigma is an upgraded Gaiden using built-from-the-scratch engine for the PS3 with added content. So Sigma is basically a new game. That’s how they went around the contract and that’s how they are going to go around it again this time around.
Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 = Ninja Gaiden 2 + added content + expansion on revamped PS3 engine.

So this is not just a PORT. As is evidenced by Sigma 1, which looks tons better than gaiden 1 and black.

Danja6274d ago

Sweet I really enjoyed the 1st NG:Sigma I hope they fix the crappy camera this time and NG2 was my fave 360 game of last year so if this game is ne thing like it....then im def in.

wow another game to add to the list , im gonna be broke come this fall.. XD

Sarcasm6274d ago

"Producer and director: Yosuke Hayashi (From Sigma)"

Just read that part, yeah this is probably PS3-only.

Yosuke Hayashi > Itagaki

eagle216274d ago

an enhanced NG2 (not a direct port)....

new boss battles, etc. Coming fall 2009.

now to the disagrees from my first post, that apology might come from MS soon. :)

6274d ago
Montreafart6274d ago

I do think the fanboys are correct and we need to wait till E3. However, unlike the fanboys, I think E3 is going to be MASSIVE destruction …for the 360.
Ninja Gaiden today, Mass effect tomorrow.

360 game after 360 game is coming to the PS3. But PS3 Triple A exclusive stay PS3 exclusive.

The days of 3rd party multi platform are long gone. Props to Sony for seeing this coming.
Fanboys think E3 will “save” them. On the contrary. Developers have now witnessed the power of the Playstation brand. With a higher price tag and still closing in on the 360. Developers are switching to Playstation if they weren’t already.
Looking forward to play Kratos and Nathan later this year as well.

Jamegohanssj56274d ago

Narutone666274d ago

was comparing the Xbox 360 version from last year with this version for the PS3. The graphics for the PS3 is better based on the screen shots according to the scan.

Rampant6274d ago

I don't think you guys would like a list of former Sony exclusives coming to 360.

SL1M DADDY6274d ago

It will be made by Yosuke Hayashi and not that silly rock star Itagaki. As far as I am concerned, he is past his prime.

Jamegohanssj56274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

You guys don't want a list of the 360 exclusives that are coming to PS3. Also you don't want me to list 360's line up for 2009.

Don't talk bad about Itagaki. I really like him, but has anyone ever found it funny that he has never took shots at Hideo Kojima as he has other developers? I guess he doesn't want his face to get burned again.

TGSI

rockleex6274d ago

I thought the PS3 was LOSING exclusives to the 360... not the other way around! O_O

Darn all those misleading articles!

callahan096274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

To the guy who asked about the presence of the words XBOX 360 in the article, the sentence in question starts "Last Year, Xbox 360... Ninja Gaiden 2..." and so on, so they're just referencing the fact that Ninja Gaiden 2 was on the 360 last year.

Lifendz6274d ago

Hopefully it's more like Sigma than Ninja Gaiden 2. Loved Sigma. Hope this game is true.

Aquanox6274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

Fanboys are funny.

Wasn't NG2 the game that suppossedly sucked? And now you're partying all over this announcement. (Obviously it will be a NG2 port with more content)

This was bound to happen anyway, Itagaki and friends left TECMO leaving the company in uncertainty. The easiest way to get money without much effort is making Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 for the PS3. I wouldn't be surprised if it looked better on PS3 since NG2 was quite a dissapointment from a visual standpoint considering how incredible NG1 was.

The team is great for making ports but to make a whole new game... that's another story.

kevnb6274d ago

now i have no reason to get a 360 again.

Montreafart6274d ago

What we are celebrating about, is not the fact we are being blessed by its presence.

We are celebrating the fact the 360 is losing, yet again, one of its last parade horses.

And the fact that we are getting the superior version.

The 360 ship is sinking fast. And with each compartment being filled with water, champagne bottles are being popped.

ActionBastard6274d ago

Hopefully the framerate and camera have been fixed. If not, I'll pass. Playing the 360 version was painful at times.

jtucker786274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

Not interested.

I'd be excited if we were getting L4D, Gears, Fable 2 or Mass Effect.

NGS2? Meh...

But then again Ninja Gaiden isn't my kind of game.

ZuperAmazingCooKie6274d ago

Yet I was insulted by Xbox fanboys, and they said "MICROSOFT TEH PUBLISHEER!!".

Just to clarify, some people are saying this will be a "re-make" which doesn't make sense. Others are saying it will be a port when the article clearly says it won't be a port. So what will it be? Well, Ninja Gaiden Sigma was a remake. Its engine used PS3's strengths. It's likely that they'll use the same assets, and that they won't "port" it because it won't be the same engine as NG2, it'll be Sigma's upgraded engine. Since that engine runs better on PS3 (higher resolutions, for example), I don't doubt it'll be the definitive version. Especially with the additional content that only fits on a BD disc.

na2ru16274d ago

PS3's NGS1 was better than the original (NG1) simply for many reasons - content and visuals.

Since this NGS2 is not going to be a direct port, it also leads us to believe it being better than the original NG2 (which kinda looked a*s as well).

You condict yourself btw. You claim it's only going to be a port. (360 version superior!?) but then play it safe and assume it's going to look better on PS3.

n4f6274d ago

april fool is around the corner dont get your hope too high...

stevenhiggster6274d ago

Ya dancer! I loved the first one and I was truely jealous of 360 owners for this.

Thankyou gaming gods :-)

CrazzyMan6274d ago

NGS2 with stable framerate, in HD resolution, with fixed camera and additional content = Masterpiece!

Only on PS3!

Mainman6274d ago

Awesome, I loved Ninja Gaiden Sigma. This Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 is now one of my most anticipated titles this year, together with God of War 3, Uncharterd 2 and Heavy Rain.

Aquanox6274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

Unfortunately, (and disappointingly), Itagaki left a lot of room for improvement with NG2. I expected a lot more but for some reason, it didn't arrive.

In terms of Gameplay, Ninja Gaiden 2 was way too similar to the first one, and this is why I didn't even beat the game even when I was a big fan of the first part. It just felt way too familiar to me, without any surprises in the road. Visually, it had its great moments, but for the most part, it wasn't the visual greatness the first one was on Xbox.

After 1 year, I believe Hayashi, with the experience his team acquired with Sigma, can improve on NG2... but don't expect the game to be a Triple A since it's only going to be a pimped out version of NG2, which was disappointing.

As for the "Xbox 360 ship sinking"... it seems that Sony boys are so eagerly awaiting for anything they can take as "good" news they don't think clearly. Microsoft's franchises keep selling way more than Sony's counterparts. Heck, KZ2 might not even sell past half the pace of MGS4 if previous news are to be believe nor the hardware has surpassed the 360's in a single month since September.

In this generation, it's very hard to keep a franchise exclusive, but for those that matter I believe MS is doing a great job securing them (even if temporarily) or stealing them (See Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy, Assassin's Creed... etc) which by the way, released simultaneously, not a year after.

Don't be too surprised if you hear exclusivity news (secured or broken) about Bioshock or MGS4 at this E3. I would love to hear you guys saying anything about a ship sinking by then.

v1c1ous6274d ago

Tecmo just shot themselves in the foot.

I don't know how much the rest of you know about Japanese culture (I'm an expert), but honor and shame are huge parts of it. It's not like it is in America where you can become successful by being an *******. If you screw someone over in Japan, you bring shame to yourself, and the only way to get rid of that shame is repentance.

What this means is the Japanese public, after hearing about this, is not going to want to purchase Ninja Gaiden Σ2, nor will they purchase any of Tecmo's games. This is HUGE. You can laugh all you want, but Tecmo has alienated an entire market with this move.

Tecmo, publicly apologize and cancel Ninja Gaiden Σ2 for PS3 or you can kiss your business goodbye.

:D

Ehm... * cough *

As I mentioned earlier, Microsoft does his job:

"No Mass Effect 2 for PS3"

Did anyone said "sinking ship"? =)

iHEARTboobs6274d ago

have GOW3 come out next March? Now if that were the case, it wouldn't be so bad because we'd have something else to play in the meantime.

BattleAxe6274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

Whoever thought that NG2 would stay an XBOX 360 exclusive has their head buried where the sun don't shine.

CobraKai6274d ago

That the game supports full 1080p like the first Sigma. Playing NG2 in sub HD, borderline SD resolution, really hurt my eyes.

SaiyanFury6274d ago

Haha good ol' Yousuke Hayashi. I knew this was coming when he said that Ninja Gaiden Sigma was the future for the series. After that, I HAD to assume that a Sigma version of Ninja Gaiden 2 was coming. God bless, Hayashi-san, I can't wait to play this with the DualShock 3. I loved Ninja Gaiden 2 on the 360, but with the upgrades afforded in the Sigma version, I'm waiting with bated breath!

likedamaster6274d ago

Good news to ps3 only owners no matter how you look at it. You will be getting new bosses, characters, and weapons. Anyone excited? I might try this version, after all I completely loved it on the 360. Game on.

Arnon6274d ago

Since it's not a direct port, I expect it to not be the same as Ninja Gaiden 2, since MS owns the rights to it. But I do expect this one to be chock full of content.

This is pretty awesome. I have the one on the 360 and it's just badass. I'll probably pick this one up too.

ShAkKa6274d ago

wow you won the trophy for most received replays ever!

Dark General6274d ago

One of the MAIN reasons i want to get a 360 is NG2. Now it's coming to Ps3. I'm incredibly happy since i'm a HUGE action/adventure fan. NG2, Brutal Legend, Bayonetta. F**k this is going to be a great gaming year for me. If ME2 comes to Ps3 as well i might die.

gamersden6274d ago

Mass effect 2 will be announced for PS3 too

EA never denied the PS3 version

In order to survive EA has to make the PS3 version. as simple as that

wait for an announcemnet at GDC/e3

it is already on PC though and coming in 2010. by that time there would be aweome games on PS3 like MAG/NGS2/HR/INFAMOUS/FF13/FF13 versus/GOW3 etc

it really sucks to be an X360 owner . isnt it?

Face Palm6274d ago

360 exclusives come to PS3 because the PS3 can run anything on the 360 but 360 canNOT play most PS3 exclusive.

to see all this love for NG2 now that is going to make it to the PS3. Before this nearly every Sony fanboy wrote off NG2.

I personally have never been into NG at all, but I will say that NGS looked freakin awesome.

overall great news!!!

EDIY: @disagree: ok.. you are right. you read my mind. i lied.

faisdotal6274d ago

yeah we didn't write it off, we just wanted a few fixes before it lands on ps3.

Jamegohanssj56274d ago

Most PS3 fans wrote it off, but Ninja Gaiden 2 is the best game on the 360 and basically the only reason I would own one.

TGSI

solidt126274d ago

I rented it on the 360 and I thought the combat was the fastest I have seen in a action game so far.

kevnb6274d ago

who insist that devil may cry has a good story (lol) and deeper gameplay (lol). Some people prefer feeling unstoppable ala God of War, but for my money Ninja Gaiden is by far the best and deepest beat em up.

Rainstorm816274d ago

No one wrote off NG2. At the time 360 fanboys put NG2 on a high platform it didnt deserve to be on. Especially when in comparison to PS3 at the time was releasing MGS4. Now we all know those two games are no compairison(thats why NG2 was downplayed). Now with NG2Sigma coming it will be the definitive version of NG2 jist like the original sigma. Ninja Gaiden is a great game PS3 owners are happy we WILL have the BEST versions of the series. Just another gem in PS3'S 2009 CROWN.

no-spin6274d ago

i differ, NG 2 was a big letdown for fans of NG 1 and NG Black. A total button masher, gore fest with no skill level needed = avarage.

I bought a 360 when i found out about this game, imagine how upset i was. Fortunately the 360 3 years warranty assures me 3 years minimum of game play and the games library is second to none. Pure fun (leaving out the crappy hardware).
Great games, pay for live but is good, pure hardcore gaming, no casual BS that affects true gamers.

Now, if Sigma 2 is a upgraded NG 2, No thx. Story is crap, ending is crap, game play gets boring.

Completely ruined the game for me.

Simon_Brezhnev6274d ago

yeah i hated the camera with the passion i played it once and stopped

likedamaster6274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

Yeah, Ninja Gaiden 2 on 360 had a much improved camera compared to Gaiden 1/Sigma. They are 'fixed' at times but plays how its supposed to. Btw, you have to beat the game to unlock a higher level, beat that level to unlock another...so on and so forth. Mentor difficulty is extremely hard, Master Ninja is nearly impossible to beat.

fishd6274d ago

Ninga Gaiden sucks anyway

Microsoft Xbox 3606274d ago (Edited 6274d ago )

Yeah it does. Remember Sigma is a definite upgraded version though. Superior framerates, higher textures, and upgraded native resolution. Sigma 2 will deliver on that end.

Hopefully they can fix the shoddy camera view in this version, then maybe I'll consider a rent.

kevnb6274d ago

don't bother renting, the game is obviously over your head.

Dante's inferno... an excellent GoW inspired game. So sad the sequels will never be.

LoveSpuds1307d ago (Edited 1307d ago )

I recall enjoying it well enough at the time, but it wasn't a patch on God of War 3 which came out around the same time I think.

I own it and fired it up on my PS3 about 6 months ago and time hadn't been particularly kind to it although it still very much nailed the atmosphere and it is a cool as he'll setting and universe.

Inverno1307d ago

Dante's Inferno needs the GOW treatment. No cut camera, with a real hellish depiction of the 9 circles and a story as dark and as serious would be amazing.

Yui_Suzumiya1307d ago

Still pretty amazing there was a PSP version that was actually pretty good. I remember playing it 10 years ago. I had the PS3 version when it first came out and loved it.

heavenly sword was such a short, but amazing game. that game should be prime material to be made into a download only remaster.

I really enjoyed Castlevania, but struggled to get into it again reattempting it a few years back. Gameplay maybe has not stood test of time unfortunately which makes it a chore to get through.
