Alpha Protocol Doing Too Much?

Andrew Weymes of The Nightly Gamer writes: "This generation of gaming seems to have left RPG developers a little confused as to how they're going to approach the genre. It may be upsetting to many classic RPG fans that the turn based sub genre is disappearing but it's quite obviously happening and the sub genre doesn't show any signs of making a resurgence."

I'm not sure why, but I hate the title of this game.

MrWeymes6242d ago

I feel that it's a very standard sounding name. I am usually pretty good with names, but I had to ask my roommate what the name of "that game" was like six times.

Also, I don't like the word protocol. It looks like it's misspelled but it's not.

You've got James Bond games, you've got a Jason Bourne game with another one coming from a different company next year..there needs to be a new Jack Bauer game.
Put the first game in the past, it would be awesome if they made a new one and not only have us play "1 day", but a prequel that would lead to the events.

I might buy Alpha Protocol, but not until it is at a reasonable price since it only has single-player. However, the main character does not look like a badass like the three J.B.'s.

One of the few 7th gen game that I'll full heartedly support for a remake.
Its a very unique RPG and deserves its faults fixed the 2nd time.

TheNamelessOne658d ago

I would be so for this. Alpha Protocol is the definition of a diamond in the rough. Before being acquired by Microsoft, Obsidian presented their ideas for a sequel, multiple times, but were always shot down. Even something simple like a remaster is very unlikely.

Still have a physical copy for my PS3. Clunky at times but I had a lot of fun with it back in the day.

Had some issues but that game was brilliant.

all the games in the above list are bang on. this is the only reason we need backwards compatibility and physical presense of games for the upcoming future, no matter what.

Honorable mention to the excellent Driveclub, one of the best racing games of all-time and one of my favourite games ever.

melons785d ago

yes! incredible rain effects; so good to drive along in rain with your Spotify playlist blaring

Skuletor784d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens52784d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

monkey602784d ago

I adored Driveclub and the Bike expansion. I also loved Motorstorm. Evolution shutting down was a crime

Outrun Online Arcade, Sega Rally Online Arcade, After Burner Climax... all good stuff. I keep my 360 hooked up to play these as well as the TMNT games that were also delisted.

Skuletor784d ago

I have quite a few of these. Timed licenses suck.

Terry_B784d ago (Edited 784d ago )

wow...I have all of them except the Nintendo ones either in physical or digital version.
