I've been playing the crud out of this game. I wasn't even going to buy it at first since I already have Killzone 2 and Star Ocean 4 to play, but I read up on DLC to add more multiplayer things to spice up replay value so I felt why not?

THE BAD:
1) Load Screens after load screens. There is too many and although fairly short will completely take you out of any tension this game COULD build up.
2) Enemies can do awkward things that are bugs. Example is dogs have hit me through walls of rooms that they can't get into.
3) Lag online isn't rare. I've found it in several games.
4)BSAA symbols need to be reshot even if you get checkpoints later on in that area of the level. BSAA symbols only stay kept for points if you don't die till the next section of that level so you can't go back to where that symbol was.
5)So much wasted potential to still BE close to a horror game. The game is littered with dark corridors and hallways that don't play ANY tension music or have ambient sounds lurking to creep you out. For a game that is 12+hours you will have a solid 7 of that taking place inside corridors, hallways, tunnels, etc that are dark and dank. They didn't even attempt to make this game spooky.(Yes great action game, but if you start the series as a survival horror, at least try to retain some horror in it)

THE GOOD:
1) Graphics. 'nuff said.
2) Lip syncing is the best for any game to this point in time. The words are mouthed perfect and there is even tongue movement for the lip syncing. Capcom deserves BIG props for this detail and I love it.
3) Story and the dialogue. Both are done well to keep you interested and never taken out from what they say or how they say it.
4) Lots of weapons + lots of enemies = lots of fun. The game is a blast whenever you try a different weapon to kill the Majini.
5) Mercenaries mode. It's strangely addictive and worth trying to set high scores on.
6) High amount of replay value if you want 100% completion or even close to 100%. To boot with the DLC coming you will find yourself very pleased with a 60 dollar purchase.

Most reviews I've read NEVER touch on my key points here. The most stand out bad thing is #5, and the most stand out good thing if you are a nitpicker is #2.

RE5 deserves a playthrough this year by many and most. If you didn't like the demo then don't worry the final retail copy is better. With being able to upgrade weapons to reduce reload speed, increase damage, how much ammo in clips, etc you will find yourself not HAVING to move when you sit still to kill enemies since you become so powerful. Though it takes a while to hit that point and isn't very noticeable on veteran and professional modes. However, normal and amateur modes are def. there for EVERYONE to still enjoy/get a lil frustrated with so you get some enjoyment out of it.

Get this game folks. You'll be pleasantly surprised even if you aren't a RE fan. :)

I agree with you on that one. That's exactly how I feel about SFIV as well. If it wasn't Street Fighter people would have the guts to say it feels dated. Dead Space deserves more recognition than RE 5.

I am not sure how one could be scared by this game when there is always a chance you can be revived by your partner. There is no suspense in that form of play. I can see one getting freaked out, however, when you are trying to down a 400 pound freak with the clunky controls they pasted in there.

My problem with sf4 is that they dumbed downed the controls. A lot more wigglers now. Everybody's pulling off mad moves in off-key places. Play those same people on the hd remix and its curtains for them as move input timing is definitely more important on that 1.

Dude Code Veronica is bad too but RE5 and 6 were mega successful and to me it makes much more sense for Capcom to do them instead. Nobody cares about Code Veronica except niche fixed camera era RE fans, i bet most modern RE fans probably don't know Code Veronica even exists. Based on all that i don't believe CV remake is coming but we will see i guess.

It makes more sense for them to remake earlier games like Code Veronica. RE5 is a good game though - it's not THAT different from RE4.

RE5 just doesn't really need to remade in general. The co-op element makes it tricky - you'd probably add more moments where Chris is by himself enhance the horror but some would want co-op to stay.

RE:5 Was and still is a great game, with hands down the best Merc mode, that I still play from time to time with my brother.

RE:6 blah, I agree, it was awful.
