Enough's Enough Nintendo...

Fed up with Nintendo, the Black Emperor feels the need to tear, not only the company, but Reggie Fil-Aime in specifically a whole new one.
From the article:

"When it comes down to it, that's all Nintendo's Wii is anymore... balled up potential that is completely WASTED. Nintendo takes center stage as Nazi Germany, sucking up all of the potential and putting it into camps to slowly whither away and die, depriving it of a taste, glimmer, or even a small touch of any of their new or old franchises."

I stopped playing the wii 6 months after its release. I even waited in line at midnight. I was hyped for it then it faded away. Played it more for the virtual games than anything else. Nintendo just found a niche and laid down in it to never retreat. Thankfully i have a 360 and PS3.

CrazyOrange6198d ago

6month is pretty much

i stopped playing wii after 1 WEEK , no joking
even though i own 8 wii games and didnt complete a single one all of theme pretty much like a new.

1-Mario Galaxy (completed first level)

2-Resident Evil 4 (completed chapter 2)

3-Zack and Wiki (still in first island)

4-Wii Sport (no story mode just mini games)

5-Wii Play (no story mode just mini games)

6-Elvin and the championship (no comment -_- , wasn't cheap though)

7- No More Hero ( Rank 8#)

8- Mario Kart ( only played 3 matchs online)

*Puts the worlds smallest violine between his fingers*

*plays it*

This is getting old, nintendo is doing what it has always done, just so happens the casual market was ripe for the picking this time, deal.

*looks at his Domino's Yo! Noid! and Three stooges cartidges for his NES*

*chuckles*

Even the writter admits that just some news on a new Zelda game would make it all ok, kinda Ironic, don't you think?

SaiyanFury6198d ago

My wife hasn't touched her Wii in like 6 months. Recently, she's been playing Oblivion on my PS3 and can't get enough of it.

SinnedNogara6197d ago

Does this guy really expect a new Mario and Zelda game every month. WTF!!!

Nintendo is not just a game developement company. They have developement studios, but usually they don't put out much (Retro Studios, what are you guys working on?? and the other ones make DS games).

Seriously, this article was written by a PS3/360 fanboy.

This year we are getting Punch-Out, The Conduit, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles (hardcore game, but not a RE game), Dead Space: Extraction, Red Steel 2 and Overlord: Dark Legend. Right now we have House of the Dead: Overkill, MadWorld, Call of Duty: World at War, Tenchu: Shadow Assassins, etc.

Mini Mario6197d ago

"maybe you have some reason for not appeasing the hardcore crowd like you did during the Gamecube days"

because now correct me if im worng.....but the gamecube didnt sell...maybe that's why>>>>? None the less nintendo themselves are still making the games they did for the gamecube. Plus they actually improved on some of their games...galaxy over sunshine....for example

Pika-pie6197d ago

Yes the Wii is complete trash to us real gamers... but nothing is going to change as people keep buying it..

Nintendo arnt going to change untill people refuse to buy their product, and thats not going to happen.. Its just too damn popular!

Tis a sad state of affairs

Mini Mario6197d ago (Edited 6197d ago )

"Yes the Wii is complete trash to us real gamers... "

So Galaxy's not a real game>>>? Have u played it>>? (and not just at a demo station)

This reminds me of when the nes and super nes were competeting with games like doom and wolfenstein...FPS's that were played with keyboards. And RTS's like dune, warcraft and starcraft with the mouse. I mean if u want real graphics why not get a high end PC...because thats where the graphics are...coz "apparently" only games with good graphics are any good.....

Yeh right. What a joke of a comment. To us "real gamers".....laughing out loud

Bubble Buddy6197d ago

I have a Wii, if you want proof I'll even take a picture of it, but the fact is that the system just isn't my taste. Most games are mediocore and the ones that aren't are 95% from Nintendo. The only games I was interested in was SSBB, SMG, NMH, and maybe I'll look into Mad World and upcoming titles. But the fact is with recession, I don't feel justified buying a Wii game for $50. Again I respect you guys but that's just my opinion.

Dick Jones6198d ago

Yeah, I don't really think that it helped the arguement either.

SpoonyRedMage6198d ago

That guy needs to go get a life, I mean comparing them to Nazi Germany. What a tw*t!

They've actually already got a Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, SSB, Metroid, Punch Out coming soon. They've just decided to make Casual games as well.

It's the third parties that are offering no support, except Sega and Capcom(not doing a stellar job though).

Now if they do decide to release a Star Fox, that'd be awesome. It's possible too after that weird teaser Nintendo sent out.

Megaton6198d ago (Edited 6198d ago )

Agree with him for the most part, except the Nazi Germany bit. Nintendo has morphed into a completely different creature than its former greatness. It's really pitiful, and frankly they can't even stand in the shadow of what they were.

Why change back, though? They're rolling in money right now because like this guy says, they managed to tap the female and elderly markets. Non-gamers are gobbling this thing up at a ridiculous rate, so there's no point in them catering to the fans who have been with them from the beginning, and made them what they were when they decided to go ultra casual.

I've written Nintendo off awhile ago, because they've clearly written me off as well.

SpoonyRedMage6198d ago (Edited 6198d ago )

I kind of agree but the majority of those "fans who supported them since the beginning" jumped to Sony and never looked back.

I also think the people who claim to have supported Nintendo through the N64 and Gamecube era may exceed the amount of people who bought the things.;)

Surely if Nintendo have betrayed their fans it's because Sony, Publishers/Developers and those fans betrayed them.

Nintendo got pitiful sales last gen and for a company that doesn't do anything else(unlike Sony and MS) that's bad. Nintendo needed to do whatever it could to survive.

I also think the great support from Sega these last two gens shows that the rivalry back in the early nineties was a lot less hostile and petty than it is now.

Megaton6198d ago

I jumped on the Sony train, but I also loved the N64, and still own a GameCube (mixed feelings on the GC). I'll agree that many fans did seem to turn their back on them with the GameCube, and I think that's what influenced their decision to go so casual this time around, but there are still some of us out there who feel completely abandoned.

At E3 last year, when Reggie said (paraphrase); "What do you mean we ignore the core gamer? We announced Animal Crossing!", I wanted to punch something and facepalm at the same time.

SpoonyRedMage6198d ago

I agree with you then, they do need more core titles for the Wii(some seem to be coming this year so that's good) but it's not like they went in this other direction without a reason.

It's also not a new direction, Nintendo have always been kinda Casual, it's just that they've put the Core to the side for a while.

Animal Crossing just seems pointless to me but I know a lot of people who like it, but yeh, not core.

(Nintendo has morphed into a completely different creature than its former greatness)

Really? Here are a few examples of Nintendos true glory days..or its former greatness as you say...

Gilligans Island
Three Stooges
Bad Street Brawler
Barbie
Jim Hensons Muppets
Total Recall
Wheres Waldo
Hudson hawk

nintendo's Seal of Quality was hard at work there boys and girls..

heck, just check out the List...what percentage of those where shovelware? and what percentage where true Nintendo Classics?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wik...

Nothing has changed, and it blows my mind that people don't understand this.. btw Xiphoes we havent been written off, we grew up. Every dissagree is a win for me on this one, cause I am right.

PistolPumptMonk6197d ago (Edited 6197d ago )

Nothing has changed? Fine, lets just say you are correct and Nintendo is the same as they have always been. Well I'll tell you what has changed. The competition.

Back in the SNES days (my favorite console btw), the SNES was pumping out more hits than any other console, or at least as many depending on your opinion. Nowadays, even if you think that the Wii is producing as many good games as the SNES did (kind of crazy in my opinion but I'm taking your opinion as truth), the competition is destroying Nintendo in number of quality games.

Just take a look at the last half of 2008. I'm not going to list the games as it has been done countless times before, but if you think the Wii had more top notch games than its competition during that period, you are clearly delusional.

Bring it to the present. I have a PS3 with more good games than I have time for. They just don't stop. I think you would be stretching a bit to say the Wii is producing as many quality games.

So, in conclusion, Nintendo's apparent refusal to change is what is doing them in and causing them to lose the hardcore audience. Bob Dillon once wrote, "the times, they are a changin'" Unfortunately for Nintendo, they had never heard that song.

ChickeyCantor6197d ago (Edited 6197d ago )

"even if you think that the Wii is producing as many good games as the SNES did "

HOLD IT!

The amount of SNES games was also due the fact it had great developer support. Not all of the games were made by Nintendo.

However with the Wii it seems that Developers took the Wii for granted. This got nothing to do with wether Nintendo changed or not.

The blame for shovelware is not just Nintendo, Its the third party developers who just go with the whole image THEY(the developers themselves) created.

By the looks of a game like Madworld, it doesn't seem to lose that many people as you claim it does. You are like so many others who think that Nintendo is causing this library of shovelware.

Nintendo is still the same, and third party developers are finally getting their heads out of their asses.

@below,
Ah yes the Wii is made by Nintendo, so all that shovelware is also made by them. Great logic right there.
Also QUALITY is subjective. What is shovelware to us, is not shovelware to others. The problem is that this image is so much burned into your brains that you guys think Nintendo has changed.

Those terrible games you speak of, people seem to enjoy them, so why should Nintendo say "nee". The fact Nintendo has never been that friendly towards "developers", it could just mean they would lose them again. Nintendo is not the cause of the shovelware. Cause if they were games like Monsterhunter Tri or madworld would not even be considered.

"Their has to be some sort of standard for the games."
YOu mean your standards?

edit:
I said :The blame for shovelware is not just Nintendo:
If you want to blame someone blame them both( as your point is suggesting that they are allowing it), but its not nintendo's fault that they make "crap". These developers could actually put effort in their projects, and Nintendo got nothing to do with their goals.

PS360PCROCKS6197d ago

"Nintendo isn't the cause of shovelware" Oh really? Maybe you need to take a step back and take a big whiff of a thing called "reality" the Wii is made by Nintendo last time I checked and if they truly cared they wouldn't let such terrible games be released. Their has to be some sort of standard for the games.

ChaoticStupid6197d ago (Edited 6197d ago )

When Nintendo made the Wii they modeled it in some ways after the PS2. It wasnt the most high tech, and development costs were lower. Now the thing you have to look at is most companies dont recognize shovelware the way you do. Nintendo noticed as many people did bu a lot of those crap games sold on PS1 and PS2.

Seems a good portion of the PS2 user based preferred Spongebob and Rugrats to God of War. So of course Nintendo lets developers put those types of games out on Wii today. Sony proved their was a market for them on consoles with the PS1 and PS2.

So why is it so wrong for Nintendo to do what Sony did for 2 generations? Or is this your first gen as a gamer? You might want to actually take a sec and bend over, pull your head out real quick and then go look into gaming a little more than you already have.

At first I was like, No Code Veronica on the list!? But then I seen Mainline. The list checks out, but I would personally put 2 over 4.

KwietStorm_BLM6d ago

I'll take 2 over 4 also. And even without a number, I don't see how Code Veronica, my other favorite in the franchise, isn't mainline when it's the actual sequel to RE2.

Rebel_Scum6d ago

The original RE was the best. Its not on the list which makes no sense.

The remake of it was alright but should be higher on this list.

-Foxtrot6d ago

The original RE smokes VII and Village, come on.
