Top 5 PS3 Exclusives So Far This Generation

The Playstation 3 has been out two months shy of two and a half years. The console has walked the rocky road and had its fair share of up's and down since release. I thought I'd take this time to highlight what I'd consider the top five Playstation 3 exclusive titles since the console hit the market.

I agree with Warhawk and uncharted,, everything else is Meh.

redsquad6294d ago (Edited 6294d ago )

KILLZONE 2 and MGS4 are 'meh'?
Okay... opinions and all that.

WARHAWK is the only one I haven't played on that list, but after KZ2 changed my mind about online multiplayer, I may now give it a go.

callahan096294d ago

Warhawk is still my favorite online multiplayer game on the PS3. So well balanced. Doesn't matter what weapons you find yourself with, whether you're on foot, in a jeep, a tank, or in an aircraft, you'll have a place on the battlefield and be able to get things done. That's balance. The map design is absolutely impeccable. And to this day it has the most in-depth stat tracking of any game I've ever seen. You can track literally every detail you can imagine. Can't recommend it enough.

There are too many good PS3 exclusives to create a list of just the top 5. I'd want to put Folklore, Resistance 2, Valkyria Chronicles, etc. on my list too. A top 10 would've been able to include a better variety and showcase some more of what the console has to offer.

DaTruth6294d ago (Edited 6294d ago )

Nice list! These are all my favourite games and that list is almost exactly my order. These are the games that took up all my time, I've lost whole Saturdays to Warhawk and LBP.

I love this! talking about games(not sales) and no 360 fanboys to be seen anywhere with their "Bu, bu, but, those gamez didn't salez 8 million!"

Perjoss6294d ago

no body ever mentions Valkyria Chronicles!
this is an amazing game, its not for people that do not like turn based combat though. For me this is one of the best RPG this generation, lovely gfx, fantastic musical score and the combat is really good too. Its not a typical RPG as its set in a kind of alternate world war 2, but the characters and story are really good. its right up there with Lost Odyssey and the mighty Mass Effect, just my opinion.

Esena6294d ago

I agree Valkyria Chronicles was an excellent game. I just wish it had more customization within each class. The character development was great, but I felt that sometimes that didn't extend into the combat or strategy area.

Overall, best RPG this generation. Go out and buy it!

Freak of Nature6294d ago (Edited 6294d ago )

My fav's not in order....

LBP
MGS4
Uncharted
Ratchet and Clank future 2
Killzone 2

Now bring on GOW3,Jak and Team Ico's next gem please...

UltraNova6293d ago

I would also agree with the guy above who mentioned valkyria this game is simply awesome.

I also like Folklore hasn't anyone played that game? Ok it wasn't THE killer app but it was a really unique game experience with a really good story, characters, visuals the whole thing really!

mal_tez926293d ago (Edited 6293d ago )

Someone has recognised Uncharted as an awesome game! It seems no one ever mentions it besides me. I was starting to feel as if I am the only person who has ever played it. Uncharted is in my top 3 PS3 games, along with CoD4 and Killzone 2.

1 - 3. Cod4, Killzone 2 and Uncharted (Can't decide which is best)
4. MGS4
5. LittleBigPlanet

If only exclusives then remove cod4 and add Racthet and Clank Tools of Destruction.

Myst6294d ago

Good list, though I can't say much for Uncharted or Warhawk. I have warhawk, have yet to play it. As for Uncharted I want to pick that one up soon, but I keep pushing it back. Other than that everything else is fun. Might get uncharted next week and see how it goes :) (Depending on how big my paycheck is :p)

Jinxstar6294d ago

Graphics are top notch. Story is just good. Better then Kingdom of the crystal skull but not as good as the holy grail =D. Temple of doom level of story. Replay... to me is low. Worth it if your a perfectionist. I play games like that for story and once to me is enough usually(Exceptions being god of war and zelda)... but still a good game overall and I still own it because I like jumping in from time to time and showing friends and letting them borrow it.

DaTruth6294d ago

Uncharted has the best combat system I think I've ever played in a game. You've done yourself a horrible injustice by not picking it up.

What were you playing November 2007?

Myst6294d ago

I didn't have the system so I was playing PC games and working to get the system for the most part..

Jinxstar6294d ago

@ DaTruth. Best combat system ever? Really? Maybe good for a TPS but I would go hands down with God of War, Zelda, Ninja Gaiden Sigma(Haven't played 2 so won't judge) or a few other games for sure before it... Do you mean for it's genre being TPS? Or Action adventure? because I can think of others Exclusive or not(call of duty 4) that are better. Don't get me wrong the controls were great. Really great. but far from the best ever in a game bro... Even Street fighter 2, 3rd strike or 4 for in depth combat system and balance(4 is still yet to prove balance but is fun either way)...

DaTruth6293d ago (Edited 6293d ago )

Let's not get to serious here! Obviously, I haven't played every game known to man, but as far as shooters... and I mean all shooters, I never had a more enjoyable experience and I am just conveying that to the man.

The seamless transition from targeting to shooting from the hip, to hand to hand and stealth is just too amazing. I can't emphasis the "seamless" enough.

Myst6293d ago

I saw the Gametrailers review of it (Not for the review score itself, but rather game play and scenario information) and thought it looked pretty well done. That's pretty much why I want to get it. Just that lack of funds (because of all the games coming out and some past games I missed in the PS2 area) were slowly coming into my house. It was either Uncharted and pass on RE5 or get RE5 and pass on Uncharted. Since my sibling got RE5 it gave me the opportunity to get Uncharted.

Jinxstar6293d ago (Edited 6293d ago )

Roger that. I would agree that it does it's own brand of controls the best. Seemless is a good word. I did feel at times that I had to line up the camera to make a jump which kind of irked me but otherwise it felt great... Except the jet Ski stuff. I feel like that culd have been done better... however it looked amazing. Seeing the rocks underwater was just amazing.

I would choose Uncharted over RE 5 anyway myself... I like supporting new IP's and RE just isn't what it used to be...

Myst6293d ago

Yeah, I really wasn't feeling RE5 to much which is why i went out and bought some JRPGs and RPGs for the PS2 spending quite a bit. I know Uncharted is one that everyone is talking about and now seems the perfect time as any to pick it up. Mainly because no other games I really want are coming out at least until May. When I get charted that will be 11 PS3 games, which can hold me over while my funds replenish for a month and then for a few more weeks until the other games and heavy hitters start rolling in to.

madpuppy6294d ago

Love me some killzone 2 as well, warhawk looks to be fun, I downloaded the demo and I might get it if I can convince my brother to get it. I am not an MGS fan, I own LBP and it is OK, I really haven't played it all that much since I got it though, matter of fact I think I lent it out to a friend.

PotNoodle6294d ago (Edited 6294d ago )

1) MGS4
2) Killzone 2 just for the multiplayer
3) LBP
4) Uncharted
5) WipEout HD (Strange choice, but the game is just sooooo fun)

Jinxstar6294d ago

I feel ratchet trumps the hell out of wipeout but maybe it's just me. I love tools of destruction.

cayal6294d ago

1. Metal Gear Solid 4

LIFE

2. Uncharted
3. Killzone 2
4. Ratchet and Clank: Tools of Destruction
5. LittleBigPlanet

NIGHT_HAWK32106294d ago

i guess mgs4 is a good game. if you enjoy playing for five minutes and then watching twenty minutes of cutscene. multiplayer is the worst thing i have ever tried to play.

PotNoodle6293d ago

Hey night_hawk, what you just said proved that you havn't played it.

mal_tez926293d ago

Seriously, comments like that tell me you are an idiot. The game does have very long cutscenes which add the overall epicness (not sure if that's a word) of the experience. The cutscenes are important story-wise but also feature some awesome battle/fight scenes. The seamless experience of moving from gameplay to movie and back to gameplay is why this game is so good.

And if you don't want to watch the cutscenes you shouldnt be complaining anyway. Here's a protip!

START --> SKIP --> YES

Follow these simple steps and you can skip the entire thing if it bothers you that much.

Why are you complaining about movies that you can skip anyway? It doesnt make sense to me. I was more frustrated by the boring talking scenes in Half Life 2. The first playthrough I listened, but the next time I just wanted to skip them and I couldn't so I got angry!

NIGHT_HAWK32106291d ago

i must be stupid, because you confirmed what i said. i guess im weird, but epic battles are a lot more fun to play than watch. if i skip the cut scenes i would have no idea what was happening. just run around an hide from people, wow how fun. i have a "protip" for you. EAT A D1CK DOUCHEBAG FANBOY. personally i think mgs is boring as hell. the coolest thing in the game was blending in to environments, but after about an hour that was played out. man mgs fanboys are as bad as halo fanboys(at least halo is fun online). oh yeah, how hard is it to put trophies into a game?

Konami Delists Some Metal Gear Games From Digital Stores Without Warning

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD have been delisted from digital stores without warning.

cloganart107d ago

I mean, it makes sense. With Vol.2 coming and all that

Commentby107d ago

Stupid headline. Should state that they are being updated or discontinued. This makes the crazy people that only read headlines think it some kind of conspiracy to take away peoples already purchased games.

jjb1981107d ago

If you want to all of a sudden own them now and haven't played them yet because a remastered is coming out, shame on you. I can't believe people are complaining about this 15 years later when it was bound to happen anyway. "A new remaster is out, quick, I'd better buy the original from the shop."

gigoran8107d ago

Gamers: "Physical? who needs physical? everyone knows that digital online games are the future. stop living in the past. we don't need no stinking disc drive"

Same gamers: "How dare the delist a digital game that I own!!!!"

computeSci107d ago (Edited 107d ago )

And? What is your point?

Same gamers: "How dare the retailers to delist (quit selling) a physical game that I own!!!!"

I think you just read the headline and don't know how dilisting works with Sony. It's common knowledge that:

"Players who already bought the games will still have them in their library and can download and play them as usual."

So again, what is your point?

Why Guerrilla Games Shouldn't Abandon the Killzone Series

Hugely disappointingly, it seems that Guerrilla Games, developers of the Killzone and Horizon series, may be done with Killzone for good.

1 was fine, overhyped as a " halo" killer
2 was a graphical beast at the time, and felt heavy
3 was good a refinement of 2 but not much else. weird audio issues environment were to quiet
shadow fall was pretty but bland

OtterX591d ago (Edited 591d ago )

Shadowfall had great Multiplayer though. Too bad the campaign was meh at best. It did have the occasional great moment sprinkled in.

TheNamelessOne591d ago (Edited 591d ago )

I played through 2/3 multiple times. I played through the original once, but it felt pretty lukewarm for me. I couldn't be bothered to beat Shadow Fall. I got a couple hours in and just went "I'm done". Never touched it again. It was awesome on the tech side, being a launch title, but it didn't even match up to the first game when it came to actually having fun playing it.

Rude-ro591d ago

3 in 3d was an amazing experience to be had.
Although not many experienced it as intended for good reasons.

just_looken591d ago

You forgot the ai advancements on the playstation 2 killzone one you could have a full team of bots doing everything even playing the objective that was a big thing.

In killzone 2 they always flanked you and when available used the high ground.

Playing killzone 2 no hud 5.1 audio was/is awesome

MDTunkown591d ago

They should finish Horizon story first

darthv72591d ago

I dont mind if someone else takes up the mantle for the KZ franchise. We are several years removed from the first game. It certainly could use a remake to gauge interest in the rest of the series. I know it has its fans... Im thinking of how a proper reboot can rekindle that old dormant flame and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.

just_looken591d ago

You forgot killzone mercenaries on the ps vita but it was the worst selling sony game for awhile there.

Yui_Suzumiya591d ago

Yeah, a remake would be pretty awesome

anast591d ago

They should let it go or sell it. No use spending millions on this project.

LucasRuinedChildhood591d ago

Would like a new IP before Horizon 3. Just because games take so long to make these days.

Microsoft once tried to nab LittleBigPlanet from Sony after a few drinks

It turns out that many moons ago, Microsoft once had its eye on the Sony published LittleBigPlanet series.

Microsoft had a good idea but fumbled it again.

Cacabunga757d ago (Edited 757d ago )

Project Spark idea was decent but they quickly gave up ..
LBP was wonderful

ApocalypseShadow758d ago

Microsoft in a nutshell. Always tried to poach Sony employees, games, 3rd party games and devices like the depth camera that was turned into Kinect but was running on PS2 before Xbox 360. Wouldn't be surprised they wanted LBP. Just like they worked behind the scenes pushing the MLB to bring Sony's baseball game to Xbox instead of making their own.
https://www.playstationlife...

They didn't spend years trying to develop their own baseball game. They wanted Sony's game.

They're scum.

Zachmo182757d ago

Microsoft didn't force MLB on Xbox. MLB gave Sony 2 options either go multiplat or risk losing the license.

Rynxie757d ago

And why do you think MLB said that? I believe Ms approached MLB.

ApocalypseShadow757d ago (Edited 757d ago )

Totally ridiculous comment.

The only exclusivity Sony had was to their own creation of The Show. Microsoft could have paid the MLB for the license just like Sony did and made their own baseball game.

Microsoft instead, groomed MLB for years in trying to poach Sony's game and bring it to Xbox. They're worth 3 TRILLION dollars. You think that's not enough money to make their own baseball game? Don't be delusional.

Microsoft spun it like they always do and told the media that they had to trust Sony with their hardware. After they put Sony in that position of not having a choice. Either go multiplatform or stop making one of their successful games. That's a no win scenario.

And what did Microsoft do? They didn't try to sell the game to the Xbox community. They put it on game pass to hurt Sony. Pushing the idea of why buy games that are $70 when you can play them in their cheap service for $10. It was a dirty tactic.

You fell for the Kool aid drink Microsoft served you instead of spitting it out. Hope it tasted good because you were fooled by Phil and the gang.

Hereandthere756d ago

Xbox executive Sara Bond has told Axios that Microsoft spent a number of years trying to get MLB The Show onto Xbox consoles. And when it finally succeeded in breaking off PlayStation’s long-held exclusivity, the company had to “trust” Sony with pre-release Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Bond revealed that MLB The Show “always came up” in conversations between Microsoft and the Major League Baseball organization. “We always said, ‘We love this game. It would be a huge opportunity to bring it to Xbox.'” she recalled. However, when Microsoft’s efforts materialized, it put the company in an awkward situation where it had to send in pre-release consoles to a rival company.

ApocalypseShadow756d ago

Lying to yourself is unbecoming.

Article link tells you all you need to know in Sarah Bond's own words.

Hereandthere756d ago

They were too cheap/inept/lazy to develop their own mlb game, so they port begged for years and bribed the mlb to make the show multiplatform. Like i said many times, xbox brought nothing to the table their 24 years, ZERO.

ApocalypseShadow756d ago

At least you and others get it. Note drank the Kool aid and asked for seconds thinking it was refreshing.

Most don't even know how it all played out but it's there in black and white for all to see. Microsoft brought it up for years until the MLB forced Sony's hand. It was a win win for Microsoft. Kill one reason to buy a PlayStation or kill the game by dropping it in a cheap service to kill Sony's sales numbers on PlayStation.

OtterX757d ago

"However, Healey said Media Molecule wouldn't have felt right doing that, adding it would have been "morally corrupt"."

Major kudos to Media Molecule for being an upright studio with principles.

Cockney755d ago

They chose well, Sony gave them the backing to pursue their dreams with no restrictions even tho their games especially dreams have very niche appeal. Media molecule and Sony deserve respect for this in an age of risk averse publishing.

RNTody757d ago (Edited 757d ago )

Great, more stories like this please. Show the last of the zombies holding the line what we've been saying for years: Microsoft is anti competition, anti industry and has no interest in making games at all.

But hey, at least there's an Xbox Games Showcase to look forward to, right?

Inverno757d ago

Well considering SONY just killed the series, LBP would've been dead by now either way. Though MM probably wouldn't exist by now either, so I'm glad they stayed with SONY, hopefully they don't get shut down any time soon or ever honestly.

Sheppard2757d ago

How did Sony kill the series?

Inverno757d ago

They shut down the servers, that's millions of user created levels gone. That and dead are pretty much the same, it's also been years since 3 and they cancelled HUB soooo.

756d ago
fsfsxii756d ago

They shutdown the servers because no one was playing, no one in the community cared about the user created levels so why keep them up? Wtf you guys would never succeed in running a business.

Inverno756d ago

Yea dood no one was playing so they shut off the servers. Cause people with enough common sense can't just Google why they were actually shut of, right?
