The PS3 Is A Miracle Worker

"Wait, what? You thought that innocent looking black box sitting under televisions across the world was just a game console? Most gamers take it for granted that Sony's console allows us to play great games, movies, music, and surf the web. Sony has made it abundantly clear this generation that the PS3 is the most useful "gaming media hub" known to man."

So I'm a 360 fanboy and I'm dying of cancer. Sony and their PS3 have just found a cure that could save my life. Will I be thankful or kill myself? I'd kill myself. Not because I'm such a moron but because I was stupid enough to hate on Sony, the creators of the legendary PlayStation brand and the only company with exclusives this generation. Hail!

thebudgetgamer6302d ago (Edited 6302d ago )

indeed.

:) i dont see the competitors helping find a cure for cancer. do you?

and if indeed xbox360 owners do use it all the time...

the repair bill for Microsoft to fix rrod will sky-rocket for so fxxking sure...

thebudgetgamer6301d ago (Edited 6301d ago )

fanboys would start arguing over who puts in more time,
or witch version is better.

:)

PoSTedUP6301d ago

@ season. not only that but they wouldn't get as much power out of the 360 as they do the ps3. the ps3 *at the time*,its parts was used to build the fastest supercomputer in the world called: the roadrunner. look it up if you dont believe me, IBM made it, i dont know if they came out with a faster one since then though...

solideagle16301d ago

i agreed man. its a masterpiece and after reading it i would certainly like to see whats the specs for PS4 and what it will do for the industry.
thanks

Sony use folding at home to look good while Bill Gates donates billions to help make change. The power consumption of the PS3 outweighs what little good folding does.

nix6301d ago (Edited 6301d ago )

awww... now only if you knew how these foundations work. Bill Gates Foundation will approach a government and tell them that they want to fund a project. and guess what applications they will install in a network? not Linux, that's for sure.

and in most cases, when the 1 year (depends) contract runs out.. poor governments/organisations will be left with nothing but over-rated OS which needs more budget to sustain and upgrade.

i know it's scary.

xaviertooth6301d ago

@soda:

yeah right! like kinda hiding his wealth over there? bill gates is a smart guy and 360 fans aren't.

LoVeRSaMa6301d ago

Another problem there is Bill gates is retired, we are talking about Sony Vs Microsoft in donations to helping the world.

Bill gates cares about that stuff, not microsoft.

And its great the PS3 can do this, its become even better since it was intergrated with "life with playstation" its set to come on after 10 minutes (if i dont use my playstation)

[=

NickIni6301d ago

Bill Gates =/= Microsoft any more.

So that's an irrelevant point.

kwicksandz6301d ago

Take your absurd suicide references and disturbing cult of sony worship to the open zone.

Reported as offensive.

Real Gambler6301d ago

Money in that fund came originally from Bill Gate, but also Warren Buffet. Are we thinking decent tax deduction here? On top of that, if my memory serves me well, there was a bit of controvery about the fact that the fund was managed by some top Microsoft executives for a while. Fund should not have their hand tieds since they are here to help everybody. Keep in mind that no matter what, with so much money, a lot of good things came out of there, but again, the money didn't came from "Microsoft", it came from two very, very rich guys.

FOXDIE6301d ago

thats nice, I mean when ps4 comes out. Dont throw away your ps3, leave it on and let it fold.

fossilfern6301d ago

You are one total arsehole why dont you suck the Balls of Bill Gates ? And stick to your outdated console :D

Coconutz9196301d ago

Bill Gates has enough money to cure world hunger. Has he done it? No.

FarEastOrient6301d ago

Well bad things can happen if you cluster too many PS3s together, it only took 20 PS3s to crack the 256mb coding that is used to secure credit card transactions through the internet.

@Soda

The PS3 only consumes by average 178-189 watts, that spread is caused from the differences of it being on idle, movie playback, game playing, and folding@home. Which is really great for the power and usability it provides.

My main server uses 600 watts per a tower (4 of them)
My back server uses 350 watts per a tower (2 of them)
My HDD server racks 150 watts each rack (16 of them)

Totaling to 5500 Watts or 5.5 kWh

PS3 comparison to my setup is (ignoring hdd sizes):
It takes 1 PS3 to run each rack, 1 PS3 to run entire
backup system, and 8 PS3s to run all my HDDs

Totaling to 2457 Watts or 2.5 kWh

With just my example alone I can say that it is worth it to be running all those PS3s in my opinion and much better on the grid instead of running several duo and quad core systems.

Immortal Kaim6301d ago

So now you guys are arguing over which multi national corporation donates more to charity.... Jesus Christ you guys are fanatical.

Sorry to burst your bubble but both companies don't give two sh*ts about global poverty and hunger, they care about making money...

I think we need to stop putting these companies on a pedestal and realise that they (like any other company) first and foremost, care more about the bottom dollar.

Sorry to be so cynical but that is how it is.

darkmurder6301d ago

MS doesn't really care, Bill Gates does though, least he's a good man :).

It has been involved in experiments and projects for a lot of things now, I think its clear to say that science isn't being paid by Sony for PR.

Still, Folding@Home isn't all PS3s, but it does add onto the figures.

PoSTedUP6302d ago

Stanford reported that 70% of their "power" or whatever comes from all the ps3's.

Cajun Chicken6302d ago

Crikey, I did not know that. Have source?

PoSTedUP6302d ago

i read something older about "70%". thats when it first came out : /

the new stats are alot different but it changes and gets updated all the time. http://fah-web.stanford.edu... here is the new stats with the ps3 like in second.. the NVIDIA GPU came out after and more people use that. the ps3 still donates alot of power at various times.

Cajun Chicken6302d ago

That's incredible and I'm sure a lot more people are folding since then.

Edit: That's still a heck of a lot.

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.

They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

solideagle46d ago

they should know that we are OG fans of VIII as it sold truckload as well. not as much as VII or X. I personally didn't like IX but X and VI are my personal fav.

Shadow Hearts 2 covenant is another game I love. I hope one day someone can make remake, I would be delighted

Final Fantasy VIII is great and you are always the first to defend it in the comments

Underrated comment. I used to hate that game so much that any time my siblings asked me to play it, I just picked Hom and shut myself down mid-match.

PlayStation legend Shuhei Yoshida says Jim Ryan fired him because he didn't listen to him

Why did Sony push Shuhei Yoshida out of his role leading PlayStation's first-party games? He'd overseen some huge successes. Well, apparently, he didn't listen.

Relientk7755d ago

Yeah I can see that for sure. Shuhei Yoshida should have been in charge not Jim Ryan.

Cacabunga54d ago

It should be free highway for him now.. but Sony are too stupid to see this, especially that moron Hulst

S2Killinit54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

Wtf why all that anger. PlayStation is dominating on every level. Besides I think there is a little more to hiring a CEO than just who is available. Its not like its a athlete your team wants to buy.

neutralgamer199254d ago

S2Killinit

live service failures, chasing trends, closing studios. yes dominating

Cacabunga54d ago

Sony is Dominating because competition is not existing. Compared to previous gens this is the poorest in terms of software offerings.

Last gen we got Uncharted 4 Lost Legacy and TLOU2 from ND alone.

This is so far a remasters gen, with no competition to lift up the quality

1nsomniac54d ago (Edited 54d ago )

..."PlayStation is dominating on every level"....

...Really???

PlayStation are soon heading into a new generation in the not to distant future. They currently have the worst customer satisfaction they've ever sustained as a company. The company is heading for a huge crash while at the same time they'll need to be planning how they are going to try and win back that favour and the build up to their new releases.

Yes financially they're winning but they're going to have to ride out this complete public corporate disaster. No one has faith in the company or the product anymore. They've damaged their public image so much this generation. Greed can kill anyone.

medman54d ago

Hulst is a disaster......

He would've done the same thing and fire Jim Ryan and Shuhei would be the villain. Why?
Because Elite creates the narrative and distraction for gamers, users and citizens.

Outside_ofthe_Box55d ago

More confirmation that Jim Ryan is the culprit for what has happened to Sony. Hulst needs to go too. What sucks is that a lot of the good top heads at Sony are no longer there. I wish that guys that were forced out prematurely by Dumbo Jimbo like Shuhei and Layden came back.

robtion54d ago

Yep. Yoshida was responsible for bringing one of the best games of this generation to playstation (Stellar Blade). He is an actual gamer and is in touch with what gamers want (creative, fun games, not GaaS and agenda pushing). He also seems like a genuinely nice guy if you watch some interviews. Of course they got rid of him.

darthv7254d ago

Makes you wonder if MS even thought about hiring him after Phil and Sarah were leaving. He certainly couldn't make their situation any worse.

Agent7554d ago

Microflop. After Windows XP and Xbox 360, it all went floppy.

S2Killinit54d ago

Floppy 😆
No pun intended

badz14954d ago

Yoshida for President! Jim Ryan was and always be a hack! Sony should get Shu back

Lightning7754d ago

All the gamer/consumer lead heads are gone across PS and Xbox. shuhei gone phil's gone (questionable) but gone. The future of gaming is somewhat uncertain across the board.
