Looks like GDC is going to be really good for us gamers. Alot stuff thats going to be announced.

yea its a good thing they are doing this. Most likely consoles will benefit from this, and its a good move on Crytek's part because that means they will make money off of console games. Its hard to imagine how they make money right now with all the PC piracy going around. I was at my buddy's house the other day playing Crysis on his kickass PC. Of course he got Crysis from the Pirate Bay though. See what i mean? There are thousands more that do the same thing.

Ruind6295d ago

There are hundreds of thousands that do the same thing. But one pirated game does not equate to a lost sale.

Making money off a PC game? I know it's too easy to bring up WoW, but you just can't ignore over $100 million... PER MONTH!!! I think it's safe to say that tops every console game ever (as far as revenue is concerned; calm down console fanboys).

Shepherd 2146295d ago

well yea in the case of WoW of course piracy doesnt bother it. Most piracy is done with games that only have single player modes, because pirated games cant play online (they need one of those one-time use Key numbers) unless you do some annoying tweaking in order to play. Its games like Fallout 3, Crysis(Crysis has MP but SP is worth getting it alone) Fear 2(Same thing as Crysis), stuff like like that.

CRYENGINE 3 already!? WTF!?!?!?!?

interrergator6296d ago

next theyll probably announce crytek 2000

pwnsause6296d ago (Edited 6296d ago )

I want to say that this is CryEngine 2 with a ridiculous modifications so it can run excellently on consoles. heres hoping that that they put lots of consideration on running this engine on the PS3. I dont want to see another UE3, which a bunch a games didnt run well on the PS3 since the code for UE3 in the early days for the PS3 was just downright bad.

http://playstation.joystiq....

This was about 2 years ago, but you can see they were interested in PS3 development.

Nicolator6296d ago

with this .. killzone2 engine already has a adversary for graphic overlord on consoles..... CONSOLE GAMING FTW!!!

DeadlyFire6295d ago

CryEngine 2 wasn't capable of staying at or above 30 FPS on consoles. PS3 probably worked best for it, but they decided that it wasn't stable enough. Likely that problem has been fixed in CryEngine 3 as well as added bonus of more graphical changes and physics added. Its very likely that if they continue with this timescale that CryEngine 4 will be hitting in 2011 along with new consoles to compete with UE 4.0. Game engines control the playing field and the biggest one out there is UE right now. Looks alot like CryTek is fighting hard to become number 1 on all fronts.

Not only that, but this pretty much confirms that Timesplitters IV and Crysis 2 will use CE 3.0 for their development. As well as anything else that comes into the pipeline from Crytek for 2009/2010 development.

Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.

To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Jingsing37d ago

The stock mark is what makes Microsoft remarkable, They have convinced every institutional and retail investor to just keep piling money into them. Like many big tech giants they are just a big growing pyramid scheme. As long as people keep dropping money into ETF's that cover the market Microsoft will always be liquid. At the same time it is completely stifling innovation and competition. People need to start being more discreet in how they invest their money as it's killing the system.

Tanktopmaster9237d ago

Once they re-evaluate exclusive all will be fine….

S2Killinit37d ago

Riiiiight because people will just flock back to them for one or two games per year.

Jingsing37d ago

15+ years of bad performance is what they call irreparable in business. It is time for them to sell off the assets and get out of entertainment.

Tanktopmaster9237d ago

These declines are on the back of extra revenue received from releasing games like Forza horizon 5 on PlayStation. So I’m being sarcastic here when I said they should go back to exclusives. Killing off a revenue stream from Ps5 sales will only make things worse
