How is making headway with emulators slow news day? Maybe your just jealous that the Xbox 360 doesn't have a dedicated homebrew scene to the most powerful console available.

Graphics Whore, what's up with the hostility? Chill out. If people wanted emulators that bad they can play on PC.

old news or what not, its news to me, i never really grasp the concept of putting linux on my PS3, If anybody can help me with a link or something that can guide me to put linux on my ps3 would be appreciated. I love the znes emulator that would be a added bonus playing old school favorites on my PS3.

I was wondering if you can connect your PS3 to your PC monitor using VGA cables.
Example:
1. PS3 a/v cable to VGA PC monitor.
2. PS3 HDMI, DVI cable (with adapter if it exists) to VGA

My friend does his so with his 360. Thats why im asking if the PS3 can also do the same.

EDIT: My monitor supports resolutions up to 1920x1080.

It's linux. What emulators can't you play on it.

Yes it is nice to be able to have all of your gaming needs met by one machine. I'll be glade when they bring back PS2 emulation on the PS3 as I know a lot of people are holding off just for that one reason... lucky me, I got the MGS4 80gb version just in time.

Also, you'd be surprised what all you can do with Linux on your PS3(s)...

Technically, you can do all that on just about ANY machine that has Linux on it, just it'll be a bit slower (or faster, depending on what machine it is - I dare say a Cray supercomputer would be a teeny bit faster =P).

I do find it interesting that it takes THREE PS3's tied together in order to do real-time ray-tracing (Without ANY other elemends of a game, such as AI, physics, etc.), yet there are actually people out there who believe KZ2 is real-time ray-traced =\

How much more powerful is 1 Playstation 3 compared to 1 Playstation 2?

I'm guessing that The Playstation 4 might be 3x as "powerful" as the PS3, or maybe more - or at least smarter.
And when not only PC-games but also consoles finally support raytracing we'll get a totally new level of detail in games, and BOY am I looking forward to that! :D

in terms of raw processing power, 1 PS3 is 35 times faster than a PS2.
the PS3 is 200Gflops, and the ps2 is like 4,9. What's strange is that it is still faster then the wii. If I'm not mistaken the wii being something like 3,5.

Kushan6248d ago

Apples and oranges comparison, you can't really directly compare a Wii and a PS2 since their architecture are so different, but a Gamecube is more "powerful" than a PS2 in terms of the games it can do (Example: RE4 - the PS2 version had reduced texture and lighting quality, as well as pre-rendered cut-scenes) and a Wii is about 1.5x more powerful than a Gamecube.

There I just found what I was searching for:

http://www.tomsguide.com/us...

This is the main problem with floating points operation per second: it's not that accurate. It's like having a hugely powerful motor in a car with lots of HP, but not taking into account, its wind resistance, weight, drivetrain etc.
