but I still won't pick it up any time soon, I just got KZ-2 and will wait it out until I find one used, can't afford it. Still I hope they release a patch for us gamers who are used to different controls, it should have been an "option" in the first place, as in alternate controls. Before I get labeled as a 'hater' as it seems like over here, I do like RE series but it's been long time since I played RE-4 and am not used to those controls anymore, and I'm sure many of us who didn't seem impressed with the controls aren't haters just those wishing an upgrade to control scheme. I very much enjoyed the demo, just that it got frustrating first few times I died because I couldn't move while shooting.

Everything sounds great, but NO mercenaries online?! That's psychotic... what could possibly keep them from being able to accomplish this if it was possible to do the single player online? Mercenaries is the most "multiplayerish" aspect of the game and they couldn't add online functionality to it?!

Didn't like the demo, so i wont be picking this up. not right now anyway. pretty busy with other games. Good for Capcom though. Some like to stay in the past and tehre will always be a fanbase for that. I love forward progression which is why i think Dead space is a Masterpiece ^^ still I'll likely try rent it when i'm done playing the plethora of titles i haven't beaten yet. the summer months will be perfect for this game.

guys i have it its a updated re4 same controls but you have to run around and baby sit the girl the entire game. kind of sucks i guess ,unless your online no servers yet.

Either way, I enjoyed the demo, but if there was something I would like to see fixed its just that, everything else is awesome.

which version are you people getting, I'm getting the PS3 version. I just seen the igninsider and just as I expected they said the Xbox 360 version runs better PS3, what do the gamers think (not the fanboys)

Bland review and low score. Why didn't they give it a 9.3? Or even a 9.1? They gave RE4 a 9.8. Looks like IGN didn't want to kill the hype by giving RE5 an 8.9.

My brother and myself played through it so many times already.

The controls do feel a little sluggish compared to other new third-person survival horror-type games like Dead Space, but RE enthusiasts will get used to it.

The Mercenaries mode is certainly a staple to every Resident Evil game since the original. I just hope they didn't forget to include Hunk in this installment. Breaking those chainsaw b*tches necks in RE4 was so satisfying.

well said garadshooter, I can never tell if IGN is basis or not, but every Head to Head they do, it's always in the Xbox version...so I really cant trust them.

It's an Action game,the enemies are running and jumping at you from all corners of your screen.Rather than you,the player,having the ability to MOVE AWAY and SHOOT AT the enemy,you're left standing there like a Strip Pole with a gun in your hands.

I absolutely loved RE4,for ITS TIME,it was an amazing experience.Don't come in here with a ridiculous comment like "the controls arent outdated",go play Gears of War,Dead Space,and any other game that was developed by people who aren't stuck in 2004/2005.You're going to quickly realize that this game belongs in a year when Barack Obama was just 'some senator with a lot of hype'.

And the Controls aren't the only negative with this game;horrible Menu interface,horribly inaccurate use of the Swahili language by the 'Majini'(That's 'Demons' for all of you that have never set foot on Africa),etc.

Maybe because games have evolved since 1996?And the franchise itself-that is-Resident Evil,has evolved from a Survival horror gameplay perspective into an Action Thriller gameplay environment that deserves new controls in 2009?

Look,you can disagree and defend this games controls all Year long,it still won't change the fact that Capcom are releasing a game with controls that WORKED 4 years ago and are now very much outdated.

I'll now move on to another item,since it's clear the RE5 Defense Squad can't get it through their skulls that Capcom should have done a better job with this games movement and controls.

I told people this was going to happen. You honestly couldn't expect RE5 to garner the same type of praise RE4 did. DIfferent day....dirfferent time. Plus like IGN said it's an action game now and that won't please everyone who's a fan of the series.

Good review, but why do they keep insisting that Gears of War 2 has the best looking graphics out there. Those graphics have been blown to sh!t with what has come out recently. Not to mention Uncharted is way ahead of that curve. up until Killzone 2 released nothing really came close to uncharted, Metal Gear solid 4 is included on that list. Uncharted really has to most underrated graphics of this gen. Maybe uncharted 2 will gather more respect for the fine folk at naughty dog.

My problem with this game is that in every respect it's outdated and completely removes everything that the original RE's had, even RE4. The controls don't work very well they're outdated for an ACTION game. Had this been a horror survival game, I'd be more than willing to put the controls aside but that's not the case here.

When the zombies move quicker, more intelligently, and just all around better than you, you know there's a problem. They'll actually dodge, they'll do things when they want, not only when QTEs appear.

I really hate what they're doing to RE now, had they called this a different name, changed the character names etc, this would have had a much lower score, but due to it being a high name game, all of it's fans will be there to defend it when Capcom knew they were making a mistake doing this.

Now I'm not saying the game is ALL bad but from the time you fight the first zombies, you'll be recalling times of playing RE4, which is great at first but ....

Spoilers....

When you fight the same dogs, same los granados, and kinda the same zombies that you try to veer away from shooting their heads in case their inner creatures come out, you'll realize that this game lacks any creativity or anything to further push the series along.

And if you have intentions of playing this on hard (or veteran as it's called here), you might as well just not bother unless you're playing with someone. The AI is absolutely useless, so you might as well say good bye to your health sprays, ammo, and anything else it manages to have or pick up.

I like this game. It's just I was really hoping to see something great especially after 4. It really is 4 with HD graphics and co-op. Watch in a month Capcom release some cheap expansion or extra costume DLC, I have a feeling they're going to be milking this for a while.

I can't wait for this game. It's coming so fast because I'm busy with all the other great games that just came out over the past few months. I'm glad it's action packed, Dead Space can take the belt for king of the survival horror genre, Resident Evil was getting stale in that style of gameplay anyway in my opinion. I think the action suits the game rather well.

on the fence... ive seen gameplay vids, and it does look very good, but im trying to save up munny... i mean i gotta get god of war3, uncharted 2, infamous and tekken6... I already bought KZ2, but i sorta want a co-op game too.

This is a good score. If this game didnt have resident evil and capcom in it, it would be rated even lower. I would have given the demo a 8.5 or so out of 10. Graphics are great, but the controls are horrible and it really feels like a last gen shooter upgraded to HD. Sorry capcom buttt you fuuudged up. Its still a rent for me, simply because co-op is still a good time. Thats why killzone needs a co-op. It confuses me so bad why they didnt put it in. my friends come over, we toke up a bit, and we play killzone, as soon as they see it isnt co-op they want to play a new game. Get it Guerilla games? its about co-op these days. Please put it in. The controls are fine.

i'm not a hater, i'm not down on the controls. but i don't need ANOTHER action game.

i DO, however want a survival horror game. and, when i buy a RE game, that's what i'm expecting. so, i'll have to wait and hope RE6 goes back to what made the series great.

The problem as someone has already stated is that the controls no longer match the genre the game is set in. It used to be fine when it was more of a horror game. However it's now gone over to the action side of things, even more so than number 4 did and the controls just aren't correct for this. The game still looks fun in Co-op but I think i'll pick this up down the line when it goes cheap.

Watch the video review, almost everything they say about the game except the graphics are negative.
A 9 isn't bad.
But I don't plan on buying it because I want to keep a nice image of what Resident Evil means to me, and not this action game with the RE license.

I love Resi, always have, but something changed. I was really looking forward to this and thought it would be a day 1 buy for me until I played the demo. I dont like it, so therefore wont be getting it. Some people will love it, some people will hate it, so what. I buy the games I want to play, not what others say I SHOULD play. Thats ridiculous. Its funny when people say " YOU WILL MISS OUT ". Miss out on what ? If I dont like it im hardly MISSING OUT am I, thats pathetic. I think my gaming tastes have changed, 2 years ago id have lapped this game up, now I prefer what Dead Space has done for the horror genre. Disagree if you like but thats my opinion, I cant wait for DS2. I may get this in a few months when the price drops but at the moment im busy on KZ2 MP, which is MY perfect game, controls n all.

I would buy it . but with having killzone 2 and mlb the show...sorry no time ..also with having just played 1 and 2 and not the rest of the series . the controls are crappy to me . feels awkward ...we use to say snake is walking with something up his azz . man these characters must be walking with snake up his azz...just weird and i wanted to like it .

I agree with people saying that it has lost the scare factor. Not once during the demo did I jump but the demo for Siren made my neck hair raise. The new RE is more action-oriented which works for and against it. It works for it because it offers something new but against it because it throws the traditional survival horror elements out.

Re5 getting a remake is still...gunna be a tough one lol. I do still want that and 6 remade. Well, 6 needs a reimagining more like and I believe the current Capcom can make it into a great game.
