The single best gaming news in some time. EA, should of never had this license. It was complete abuse and a monopoly of a sport millions love. Were so concerned with money these days that every one is copyrighting everything and abusing power that doesn't really exist for the sole purpose of getting wealthier.

Then Sony do for NFL what you did for Baseball. Then when you are bored make a NHL games also.

Please? :) This would be so awesome. Why I can respect EA's new efforts to better game experiences with the new NFS, Madden and games like Dead Space and Mirror's Edge. I loved 2K's football games, the production was WAYYYY better.

Legally though, I think it's up to the licensor of any particular product/brand to come to terms with any licensee,
but in the case of the NFL there's a lot tax payer participation...

the long short of it,
it sucks, but I think the contract should be legally binding, though it's in poor taste for both brands(EA and NFL) when viewed by the public.

Both parties should really consider the impact on the public's perception of their stuff.

This would be friggin awesome. I might even start playing sports games again. No offence EA, but your damn football game has been horrible ever since you got the exclusive rights to it. I am not big on baseball at all, but if I was, all the 2k MLB series are top notch. They would bring back football again and make it really realistic. I still fire up my XBOX 1 to play NFL 2k5. IMO, it is better than Madden 2009. Helmet cam! I hope to hell they bring back the helmet cam. Nothing more exciting than seeing all the action from first person. Imagine playing it online in first person.

I do agree that EA should no longer hold the NFL license exclusively. However the method by which this will happen isnt something I look forward to.

Couldnt the same case be made against say Sony with God of War? PS3 is the only place to get it after all. Or would it be more like Nintendo has a monopoly with Mario, so Mario gets taken away so that 3rd parties can also make Mario games for any console they want( which would make some people happy I'm sure)?

Not to mention the fact that I dont think companies should be policed at this level to the point that we waste time making laws to counter the decisions of the product owner.

Did anyone stop to think that maybe the NFL doesnt want 20 different Football games floating around? Maybe they only want one so that their fans can get it all in one package, or so you do not have to buy so many games?

Really at this point they should just handle it themselves. Pay for an engine and basic game design, sale the game yourself and then just put out 5.00 updates each year and add some small features and a Roster update. I think they'd make a killing. They could do so much more in the game and with the game itself if it was really connected with the NFL and more than just a name on the box.

Tell me again how the multiplatform strategy was supposed to fix everything. Look at your results and compare them to Nintendo, which keeps thriving with exclusives. Your loyal fans are gone. And let’s not forget the pile of IPs you purchased only to let them rot.

The worst thing is this is down from last years numbers/expectations which was down from the previous years numbers/expectations. You think about how long “down” has been a consistent part of the communication and you realize those subscriptions are what’s holding that boat together. The price cut of gamespass is still a price raise in a string of price raises. They are trying to use players to offset the missing revenue. Now call of duty is out of gamespass, which is literally WHY they bought the company. To draw people to the subscription. They realized they missed a boatload of money and that wasn’t sustainable. Now you pay for it like you would have if they never bought the company… so why buy the company? Mind you those billions still need to be paid back. Yeah it gives you a chance to say we make the biggest FPS… but the internal conversations must be brutal at high level on topics that really matter. Like revenue. Profitability. And ROI for the shopping spree.

Is this like the 10th quarter in a row they're down 33% on hardware how is that even mathematically possible. You would think their mediocrity would Plateau
