I thought Microsoft said that they are making games that look much better than Killzone 2. So far 2 developers said that the 360 reaches its limits... Its no surprise that Microsoft is planning better games than Killzone 2 for their next XBOX.

Well, it's not so strange if you know anything about technology.
A single-layer DVD is faster than a blu-ray because it has a variable read speed whereas blu-ray is fixed. However, if the DVD is dual-layered, or even worse, dual-sided with dual-layers, then the read speed is below that of the fixed speed of the blu-ray.

I hope that they finally do something good with this series....its sad but I think the best one was 3 and since then they havnt done anything that has truly interested me

I wish that the 360 utilized HD-DVD as a medium for their games. It's too early to speculate whether the 360 version of the game will be "gimped" (hope not).

Solely in terms of medium storage capacity (and I'm not going to involve GPUs and Cell in this point, so calm down) the PS3 has the edge - hard drives are a standard on all their machines and Blu Rays have higher capacity. DL-DVDs require compression and not all 360s in circulation have hard drives, thus they do not have the ability to install their games.

It's up to the efforts of the game developers to make it happen.

Just use a fourth disc for Heihachi and Kazama. I'm sure that'll work.

Developers being blindsided by the thought of monetary advancement throughout this economic crisis easily succumb to Microsoft's offers, only to find out that they are porting a game to a system that doesnt offer much more disk storage space and technological muscle than PlayStation® 2.

Final Fantasy XIII is another victim of this same predicament. Microslaves should be dragged under and shot for the belief of their console actually being able to produce the magic and flair that PLAYSTATION®3 provides.

Not been interested in Tekken for years so I couldn't really care less if the PS3 version is dumbed down or the 360 version sucks. I wouldn't be buying it for my 360 anyway, reasons for this should be obvious (D-Pad).

It's got an amazing motion blur system that adds a lot more impact and realism to the graphics. And the developer definitely has two big concerns with porting to the 360.

The DVD drive doesn't read data fast enough (since they can't rely on a Hard Drive for caching/installing), and the 360 itself just isn't powerful enough. Hopefully they're able to keep the motion blur system in for the 360 version, 'cause it really does add a lot.

Regardless, the game was essentially designed on ps3 architecture. Hence, I can understand why its causing them trouble.
I'v played this game at the arcades many times and wouldn't understate the resource required to run it at 60fps at 1080p, not only that, but also the amount of detail and post processing effects used. Realtime post processing is PS3's forte...wait for it...yes, thanks to Cell

Sounds like the motion blur will be more faithful on the PS3 version, but the 360 fanboys will say their version is better because it's not as blurry.

This is just bs fud by the developer trying to hype their game up. I don't think a fighter is ever going to push a consoles graphics capabilities, whether it's xbox 360 or ps3, maybe the Wii.

I think that the PS3 version of Tekken is done and they are trying to port it over to the 360. That would be very hard to do don't you think.Now if it was the other way around they would not have this problem.

Damn, really, the fact is, there are SO MANY games out now, that it's hard to buy all of the good ones. I have to put Tekken on my long list of things I have yet to buy. I still have 14 ps3 games, and over 125 xbox 360 games, not to mention the Wii games that I never get around to playing. I can tell you, that if the ps3 has an advantage, it's a very small one. So far, I love both consoles, but I have way more friends on xbl, and my sister also has xbl, so I'd rather play with them online than a bunch of folks on psn, that I don't know, and that don't have microphones.

The xbox doesn't has as much to worry about as you all would like to believe.

Tekken 6 will sell more on the PS3. Doesn't mean I thing to a ps3 owner but usually creates bragging rights for 360 owners.

Well there have been some people saying the 360 cores can't do graphics while the PS3 spu's can. It seems most people here are quite young and don't remember the days of pre-3d graphics cards on PC's, or AMIGA home computers or speccy's or C64's..................

The last time I checked, graphical operators were just mathematical functions which any cpu can be programmed to perform. The reason why 3d cards took off on PC's was to perform these functions a lot faster. And along came a certain 3DFX card for the PC.

There also appears to be confusion to the speed at which a circe (talking about CD, DVD, Blu-ray here) spins around.
All of these are the same shape right? So therefore all are subject to the same problems with physics. The outer most tracks of the discs have to spin faster to keep up with the inner most tracks, simply becasue they have a greater distance to travel in the same length of time.
360 DVD games place the most critical parts of the game code, textures as far out on the disc as possible, to make best use of the faster read speeds.
The same would happen for PS3 and blu-ray. However, because data is so highly compacted on blu-ray, Sony had to lower the spin rate on early blu-ray drives and hence all subsequent PS3's have to be the same, because too many read errors were occuring.
It's all swings and round-a-bouts for DVD and blu-ray. Yes 360 can stream off data faster, but only when reaching the outer tracks. Yes the PS3 has fast streaming speed due to the highly compacted nature of blu-ray, but because of the slower spin speeds, has to wait an eternity to read data from the outer tracks.

1. 360's DVD runs 12 megs per second on a single layer DVD.
2. on a dual layer DVD is runs slower at about 9mps the same as PS3's Blueray
3. He said he is having trouble fitting it on a DVD.
4. That means they are using heavy compression.
5. Compression slows down data rates even further!
6. They can use a install or cach to the HD to speed up the PS3, that can not be done on 360 do to owners of the arcade models, or they would not be able to run the game.
7. the game runs at 60FPS so even though its a fighter its hard to pump out 60fps. It looks and runs much better then SF4 witch uses low res pollys.

If its such a challenge then why did they even do it? Is there really anyone with an xbox360 out there who is dying to play tekken 6? If there are, go get the system it was meant to be on if you want to play it so bad. All this is doing is pushing its release date back farther and farther. This game didn't really need to be on xbox360 n e ways. Tekken has always been a strong Sony exclusive and I think all Microsoft does is steal exclusives from Sony, thus delaying Sony's games.

Im not quite sure what they are talking about, since the 360 has the superior version of SF4, which blows Tekken 6 out of the water as far as I am concerned.

The only thing i can gleam from that is the game was optimized specifically for the PS3 and they have to successfully port that code over.

And the space issue has to be taken out of context. There is no way in hell this game needs more space than a DVD. Is this game even native 1080p?

Yup ! That's me ! I've been playing Tekken since PSX days way back then, I still remember how happy I was when I can chain King's throwing moves, but I'm not here for the sake of nostalgia. Right now I'm really pissed off about Tekken 6 coming to 360, because I know for sure that the quality is never gonna improve much. It pains me to say this, but I was not impressed at all looking at the trailer I downloaded from PSN, the graphic looked really mediocre and then it hit me, of course ! It's multiplat now ! I know that the game is released on arcade way earlier and some Xbots will say that's how the game supposed to look like. Again, if you have time, look at Tekken 5 DR from PSN, it looked waaaaaay better from the PS2 version and yes, it's the same game with enhanced graphic and 3 new characters, so PS3 can definitely make Tekken games look better. Come on, I couldn't care less if they do this to any other game ( Yeah ! Even FF franchise ), but please not the BEST 3D fighting game ever !
Tekken is one of the main reason I bought a PS3 in the first place, I mean look at the first Jin Kazama trailer with the sweat and everything, I was just blown away and I thought the in game graphic is gonna be awesome. But now I guess we just have to settle for less....man...after seeing K2 graphics, this game is gonna be a let down, i just know it. Well, I hope the gameplay is still fun though. The xbox has too many limitations making it harder for developers to make a more advanced game even though it is easier to program for.

Seems to me like those who develop basic games prefer the xbox while those who want to actually make a tru next gen game take the time to learn how the ps3 works.

They didn't say the console was limited. Their comments are specifically towards the DVD drive. 360 still has a few more years in it. Who seriously thinks that the next Tekken or Soul Caliber after this one won't look and perform better?

These developers try there best. Xbox is fine, DVD is fine and so is PS3. Xbox uses the 2xAA for better or worse it is slightly more appealing ans if the developers are trying to say Tekken 6 is any harder to develope for they are talking out of the arses. I actually think it is a good thing that Xbox has only DVD or our games would be flooded with FMV because of Blu-ray, thats cheating in my book and developers needs to stck up if they make a game for a system its the systems graphic power people prefer to see, not FMV like alot of multi-ports. PS3 can handle it just as Xbox can, lazy developers deserve not to sell units if thats there answer. Namco, get working or be outdone in this recession!?!

Without having to worry about the limitation on 360 version, the dev could go all out in all aspects of the game, hence the result can be a K2-ish quality but in fighting genre. I realize it's a far fetch to compare games with K2 so let's just say that GENERALLY PS3 exclusives have good quality almost in every aspect ( Except Haze and Lair ) I just wish Tekken 6 could fall into that category, but by becoming multiplat, it's highly unlikely now. WTF is wrong with these people,how can a low quality (gfx) game cannot fit a DVD9 ? Gears,Mass Effect,RE5,COD4 fit on a DVD9 and a fighting game with 2 chars on a screen,with some really low poly environments DON'T ?

I'll get it since I played them all since Tekken 2 and it's the only fighting game I can play anytime,moves just happen,easy to remember...but am seriously dissapointed with the graphics.

that proves you don't know what your talking about the pic's of all the gameplay you have seen is only the PlayStation 3 ver of the game and even FF13 all are PlayStation gameplay no 360 sorry that you have to hear that but they didn't even begin to work on ff13 for the 360 yet
