In a recent interview with Gamertag Radio, design director of Oblivion Shivering Isles Bruce Nesmith let out some interesting details. When asked how Oblivion fans who don't have Xbox Live could get the Shivering Isles expansion pack, Nesmith admitted that they were working on a retail version. According to Nesmith, there will be a new special edition of Oblivion available at retail that will include all of the previously released content including the new Shivering Isles expansion. He also went on to say that there will be more downloadable content for Oblivion in the near future.
IGN : How does the new The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered, released in 2025 for Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam, and PS5, compare to the original 2006 Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion released on Xbox 360, played via Xbox Series X/S Backwards Compatibility?
With The Elder Scrolls 6 still far into the future fans have been taking matters into their own hands with projects like Skyblivion.
Skyblivion remakes Oblivion in Skyrim's engine, and the huge mod is nearing completion, but the team could use some assistance.
Dunno whether to laugh or cry, as one of those poor saps not on Live (I use a 3G connection on a laptop) and who thoroughly enjoyed Oblivion - it sucked that S.I was only on download.
And from reading the article it seems that I may have to pay for Oblivion (+ content) again, rather than just the content.
A classic case of wait and see...
I'm Currently NOT on XBL so I really want a retail version because think about it which is easier on my pocket 30$ for a retail version or 70$ for my XBL? But don't get me wrong one way or another I will have this expansion.
Hopefully it'll be at a discounted price.
So if the expansion sells for $30 on Xbox Live and the retail version is going to include all the previous expansions, Im guessing the retail version will be higher than $30. Probably somewhere around $40 or $50. It might be worth it. Sadly, I played 200 hours worth of Oblivion before growing tired of it. Maybe the expansion packs will breathe some new life into the game...
Buy the new edition of 360GAMER the interview with them is like 6 pages long they specifically says its DOWNLOAD ONLY and that the 360 doesnt have the ability for expansion packs......he also states there will only be ONE MORE downloadable content after this one
