Much had been hyped both good and bad regarding Killzone 2 as we approached the release. The hype surrounding the game reached fever pitch several weeks ago, and is being maintained even now, a few days after the fact.
Yet, there are those claiming that the game has not sold well. Some going so far as to call it a flop. While mindless haters don't deserve recognition, surely not all of these people have ulterior motives.

Hugely disappointingly, it seems that Guerrilla Games, developers of the Killzone and Horizon series, may be done with Killzone for good.
1 was fine, overhyped as a " halo" killer
2 was a graphical beast at the time, and felt heavy
3 was good a refinement of 2 but not much else. weird audio issues environment were to quiet
shadow fall was pretty but bland
I dont mind if someone else takes up the mantle for the KZ franchise. We are several years removed from the first game. It certainly could use a remake to gauge interest in the rest of the series. I know it has its fans... Im thinking of how a proper reboot can rekindle that old dormant flame and bring in a new generation of fans in the process.
Would like a new IP before Horizon 3. Just because games take so long to make these days.

The PlayStation 3 may not have been the strongest generation for Sony, but there were still some diamonds in the rough that deserve a revisit as PS5 remasters.
Even if they could just remaster and put on PSVR2, some would still look great as VR titles and could do a whole lot to bolster the headset w these exclusives! I'd imagine the investment of reworking these titles into VR would be way less than building new games from the ground up, and they could be amazing experiences, and VR often makes flat games feel fresh again. The Resistance and Killzone games are particularly what I want to see!!
The time is perfect for a resistance fall of man game campaign coop multiplayer
Resistance was ok but Warhawk and Starhawk was better and kept me coming back for almost a decade of fun and petty revenge on the loud mouth unskilled players 🤣
Edit I loved capture the flag dropping the pot on the flag carrier was extremely satisfying as well as transforming your plane in bot form and stumping them to death 😱
The Amsterdam-based studio reflects on its humble beginnings, beloved franchises, and growth through the years.
Up there with the top tier in the industry. Love Guerrilla Games - Horizon Burning Shores is simply STUNNING.
32.7M sales in the Horizon franchise! With 8.4M coming from Forbidden West alone! Truly a hugely successful game and franchise as a whole. Looking forward to Horizon III
Yooo, when I first saw that Killzone 1 footage at E3, my friends my brothers and I were like, Holy shit! When it came out, it didn't look exactly like it, but we sunk so many hours into 1 & 2.
I even liked Killzone: SF, it was a spectacle to look at, and even today it looks good. I hope they make a new one. Can you imagine how that will look, and they can get some modern FPS pointers from Bungie.
Such a wonderful studio. They deserve all their success.
The Decima Engine is absolute 🔥 I'm just mad they have abandoned Killzone.
I think the game will sell 2-3 million easy. It's basically something like the Gears of War of PS3. But you can't argue the fact, that it's not putting up Halo 3 or GTA IV like numbers where people are waiting in lines by the hundreds to get their copy at midnight. That just didn't happen, no need to lie about it.
Halo 3 boosted 360 sales for a month or so, as did Metal Gear Solid 4 for PS3. Those games are as big as it gets. Killzone 2 is really more like a new IP, the original was an average game, so it's not like it's a huge franchise that has millions of fans.
Killzone is hopefully making a name for itself, but it's not Halo or GTA status. There just isn't going to be any one game that wins the console wars anymore. That's just not how this gen is turning out.
It does make a point. I have seen many articles trying to down play a game saying it has weak sales without giving a number to back up their claim. I purchased KZ2 and I am little on MP games, I enjoy playing SP more, so wasn't sure how I would like the MP of KZ2. After a couple of minutes into the MP I have to say IMO that I have really got hooked on it. The gameplay and the size and structure of each level is what makes them so much fun to play. Even if you are not an expert and get killed a lot you enjoy it and learn and come back and have your vengeance. The SP is fun, something new in each level that just raises the bar on difficulty. The AI is amazing, they can really kill you time after time and you don't even see it coming but that is what makes it fun because you cant get angry at someone or something outsmarting you, its not like a cheat that the AI does, they really do try to avoid your shots and attack you in the best way possible. The game is great and any FPS fan should play it even if they don't have a PS3, go play it at a friends house and see how you enjoy it. Quit all the fanboy cr@p and give recognition when recognition is due.
BTW LBP is on sale at Amazon for 42.00, just ordered mine. I have to get this game since I have only heard great things and my girlfriend really wants to play it. I'm sure 42.00 is a great deal for such a great game that is getting so much add ons.
1.5mil pre orders in europe alone and thats offical
Gamestop is not even world wide to count sales.
Seriously, I think some people just enjoy making crap up and hoping that it comes true so they can more or less go: "See I told you so!"
The last two games to receive this much hype were GTA4 and Halo 3, i think what alot of people are doing is trying to compare the estimated sales figures of this game to the sales figures of the other two and when you see 2 - 3 million against 8 million, it can be perceived as a flop, however Sonys bank balance and the 2-3 million owners of the game will tell you something different, its all about spin and perspective
At the end of the day, if the game makes you money and everyone enjoys it, then as we say in england "Jobs a good un"
