PS3 owners have jobs and families. We're not mostly 16-22 year olds with no responsibilities who can wait in line at midnight every time a good game comes out. For the most part mature adults could care less about midnight launches on a work night, they'll just pick the game up the next day. Like me.

I've never understood midnight launches. I stay up all night to get a game, and then I'm too tired to play it.

Gamespot isn't the only place to buy games, there are many other places. There might not have been many orders at local stores maybe the orders were more online. Plus sony's advertising is not just focused on one part of the world, they focus everywhere. They need to satisfy all of the regions available, so they can't spend money only in America thinking that they will be just fine. They show their ads everywhere, Japan, Germany, United Kingdom, everywhere. I believe the game will do just fine, it might not sell that much on day one but it definitely will keep selling even after the first month

I got about 40 of my psn friends from cod4 to get killzone 2.
Some love it some think it abit hard to get use to.

It is a break for us all from cod4 and cod5. The only thing I dont like about killzone 2 are friends of my who are using bot server cheat to rank up which I refuse to do.

I thought it was kind of weird when I walked into gamestop and not 1 killzone poster/ad not even a sign it was being released today besides the fake cases on shelves saying released 2/27.

Why do sony shoot themselves in the foot like this? Microsoft must have cracked open quite a few bottles of champagne over the kz2 launch because sony's handling of it is laughable at best.

Killzone 2 has all the potential to be a console seller and could been significant in closing the gap on the difference in sales between the 360 and the ps3. The buzz was HIGH for this game.. as high as i've ever seen for a game yet sony do nothing about it.

Imo, the gamer developers have a part to play in this. Alls they needed to do is give the game a few marketable characters and they could have potentially been the halo killer. I don't even remember the name of the main char in this game (not played the full game nor paid too much attention to the hype) but come on.. the moment someone mentions halo everyone knows the face behind it.

Look when M$ released a top game.. halo 3.. you couldn't go anywhere without seeing adverts for it.. nor could you go too far without seeing all the tacky mechandise available for it. While personally i'm against all the merchandising and stuff.. a game isn't just a game, it's a brand name. I think it's time for sony to smarten up and get with the ages... go on about all you want about Blu ray, processors etc etc but if you don't know how to properly market a game, everything else is pointless for sales.

Out of curiousity, I wonder how much more copies of kz2 would sell if it was a 360 exclusive? Some might scoff at the thought but even the most delusional fanboy must see that if this was in M$'s hands, they'd market the hell out of this plus with the 360 predominately holding a fps fanbase, i'd imagine it would have done a lot better.

I have a preorder for KZ2 (for the demo) @ Gamestop and I need to cancel it ASAP and get my $10 back.

hoping to buy the game. I was honestly worried that it would be sold out, but there were many cases on the wall behind the counter. For a game that topped the Gamestop preorder lists, one would think that they would be sold out on day 1. Whatever, I'm just glad I got the game.

SOny has the most exclusives but they all move no consoles and flop in sales.

After so much hype KZ2 should sell 6 million in the first 2 months.

Is it not just the lack of advertising but could it be that just about every frame of the game is available on the internet, everywhere? Does it seem that most major PS3 exclusives have been opened out and dissected to bits before release?

Did the little given away on Halo 3 make everyone want to buy it to see it? Did denying everyone lots of footage and just advertising the crap out of it make it sell so well.

There are of course, lots of people who put their hands over their ears and shout, managing to avoid much of the media but there are plenty more weak individuals who fall prey to the temptation!

...in America not many people went to midnight launches doesn't mean the game will sell badly. In Europe the game will sell immensly well. Just look at the marketing! Amsterdam was bascically turned into Helghansterdam last week.

Seriously, this is sad. Halo 3, Gears of War 2... even The Lich King... they all drew hundreds of people. I don't know why but we just don't sell that many PS3's. I just started working here about 2 weeks ago, but for every PS3 we sell, we sell about 4 Xbox 360's, and 6 Wii's.

Killzone 2 is an awesome game, I've already played it at work. I just can't believe no one cares enough to celebrate it. There are literally very few who have reserved it. The proof is always in the numbers.

I am an Xbox fan but I don't even feel proud about it anymore. There's no competition left with Sony. Fighting words won't help Sony, only numbers. Please give the PS3 a pricecut... we need a rival.

Isnt this like the most obvious thing ever? Aside from ps3 only owners who hadnt have a decent game to play for a long long time now, no one really cares about killzone. The 360less people will buy it but the majority of the gaming world, the 360 owners who have a ps3 as their backup console, will go for Star Ocean4, SF4, GTA L&D, L4D or Halo wars. Besides ps3fans were completely blinded by the fact that the gaming world never payed attention to KZ2 anyway and that they were the only ones desperate enough to hype a generic game since they had a massive game drought for 2 massive years now. While they hyped KZ2 on the net all day and had nothing else to do, the gamers (who are xbox platform exclusive now), were busy playing the massive onslaught of gaming that hit the microsoft console exclusively. Playstation and ps games are an afterthought in the gaming world. Xbox is the main platform for everyone who likes gaming. So expect no attention for sony games for at least this gen. 360 = gaming right now. Only a retard would think otherwise.

Almost every store on line had is discounted, you don't usually see this if the game is getting enough pre-orders.
I pre-ordered mine at Amazon.com $56.95 + free prime next day shipping. About 1 hour into single player and not really impressed, just an average shooter, I hope it gets better.

went and picked up my copy at midnight at gamestop and only 3 people including myself showed up, kind of weird, but the game is freaking insane, went online and could not stop played all day yesterday.

that's bogus. i (and many other gamers) have lives and responsibilites. i'm up early to get to the office on friday morning. so, i'm not about to go to a ML. and HHG wouldn't have seen me at 10 am the next morning either........i'm working. i guess HHG doesn't know what it's like to work.
i did however run to GS to pick up KZ after i had seen my last client at 4:15 EST.
my question to HHG is this: does my sale (and anyone else) not count because i didn't do a ML? are sales only counted in the first few hours? OF COURSE NOT!!!
HHG, you can talk about sales in any way you want, but don't lean towards the ridiculous by gauging success on how the game sells in the first few hours of availability. that's silly.

Ok, I got out of school and work and was soooooo tied and was over excited to get this game. I walked in my malls gamestop happy as a clam and I new the dude working there and was like "yeah! Killzone 2 how many copies sold? did it sell out?" and he just said said..."3"...we sold 3 copies. I looked around the gamestop and there was not ONE Killzone 2 ad of any kind. Not even the little box's for display. All there was so Pokemon Platinum everywhere. I got my copy...but died a little inside. I wanted the kind of buy like when I got Fallout 3: everyone was in there buying it and all excited to play. I felt better though after eating so ice cream and playing it :)....bottom line: SONY GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER

Well considering every gamestop I called told me they weren't doing one count em up that's 7. Me an my boy went to Wal-Mart an got it at midnight. An its a game quite the majority of my friend list is playing. One thing people have to realize though is that yes this game will do well probably extremely well but Playstation fans arn't one dementional like that. I know its hard for some to believe but their are a truck load of PS3 fans out there that generally dislike the majority of FPS games including myself. I'm an RPG guy so that's probably why but I don't have to tell you guys that our varied taste is clear as PS3 fans buy games all over the board.

This is the thing I love about Playstation right here the variety but also the quality. This is one reason why sales typically take longer to build up on the PS3. We have so many games to buy an we don't cling to 1 or 2 games as the be all end all regardless of hype. The reason for that though is because we don't have to. Right now the only people starving on PS3 are the types like me the JRPG fans. Don't get it twisted though I'm my toughest critic when it comes to my favorite genre an nothing this gen has showed me what I want yet there is potential but nothing solid yet.

I think like me a lot of PS3 fans are waiting on a JRPG to rival the likes of Xenogears, Crono Trigger, Suikoden II an FFVIII hell or even match the likes of Xenosaga III. One thing a lot of people don't get is Nex Gen or now current Gen doesn't make everything better like it does for graphics. When it comes to JRPG's especially there is a reason I'm still playing those PS1 games till this day. An until JRPG's bring that of which they are missing this gen. That of which was in the JRPG's mentioned above they will continue to have little to no impact on the remembrance of this Gen.

An I am a PS3 sole console owner I assure you I am no where near a part time gamer. An your right it has all to do with games an PS3 delivers what I want. After playing Uncharted, Heavenly Sword, MGS4 and now KillZone 2 I've have to say I am offically sold on my PS3 as a gaming powerhouse...and I have yet to play MP..saving that...when I finished the game..

you know what is funny? I did not like the Uncharted and Heavenly Sword demos too much, but bought the games based on the post i read on n4g and love them both within 10 minutes of play. In the other hand i went crazy with KZ 2 demo, and even after some 3 hours into the game, i dont feel the love, in fact i dont like it. Is not a let down in all areas, but is just not exciting to play, well i confess i still am halfway i think, so will have to finish it to have a better conclusion

The Killzone 2 online experiences is very good. About the launch/hype.....I saw a lot of people getting the game! I'm sure the 1ST week sales are going to be through the roof. Most likley Not like Halo 2 or 3 and Gears 1 & 2, but I expect the numbers to be very impressive. As a Sony fan, I will say that this is not the Halo/Gears killer. Rather, it is just as good though...(Online matchmaking is better, in my opinion.)

IMO it's quite clear that for this generation there will not be any "huge" launch for the PS3. Nevertheless thanks to the "legs", sales numbers can still be great. LBP is doing well, Uncharted did very well despite their "cold" start.

In my area Game stop sold 8 copy's of Killzone 2 at midnight. at my store we sold 2 copy's all day.Most don't know what it is (SHAME)

I got my copy from Gamestop midnight launch, only because I was awake, Gamestop is 1/4 a mile away, and I only had to work half a day the next day.

There wasn't a single person waiting to get this game at all. I walked right up to the counter at 11:45 and asked where the line was. He said, "what line?" I said for Killzone 2. He said, "I got them right here and you are the firs person to ask for one". So I grabbed a copy when it hit 12 o clock. To put this in contrast, there was a line of about 30-40 people for GTA 4. When I went for Gears 2, there was a line of 10-15. For Halo 3, the line was so long, I left and got it the next day. Also for the launch of the 360, there were roughly 50 people waiting for it. When the PS3 launched there was 20 or so. I know there were some parts of the US that had huge turnouts for the PS3 launch and PS3 games, but not here in Florida. By the way KZ2 is pretty decent, but nowhere near the perfect mark like all the PS peeps on here keep claiming. Does it have good graphics? Yes. Does it have a good story? Kinda sorta. Does it raise the bar in every way? No. Does it have good physics? Decent for ragdoll. Does it have good controls? Not really. Is it a good shooter? yes, definitely. If I were to review this game, I would say that it is very beautiful, but it is missing some rather small details. Like say for instance, shoot a light. Does the light go out? No. Does it even leave a bullet hole in the light? No. These are simple things that give the feeling of immersion. There is also a ton of clipping in this game. For those of you who don't know what clipping is, it is when an object in a game passes through another object in the game that damn sure wouldn't be able to do in real life. For instance, in the first level when there is a soldier holding another soldier on the ground and talking to him, both soldiers are inside of the ground. They are not sitting on top of it but rather sunk into it a couple of inches or so. I know these are minor things, but they really do ruin it for you when EVERYONE is saying this is "TEH BESTEST BEST GAME EVERZ!!! LOLZ!!" This game is good and brings some nice stuff to the table, but it is not perfect like it has been made out to be. If I were to give it a fair and honest score, it would be a 8.5 out of 10.

it was sold out at the Gamestop where i live (Turku, Finland). that was very surprising because there's ALWAYS copies of games available on launch, there's usually no reason to preorder. i saw plenty of Gears 2 on the shelves when it released, same with MGS4 and LBP..

and most of the people online on my friendslist are playing it.

most likely it has sold pretty well overall, not 5 million but still good. it will easily outsell LBP i think, maybe reaching 3-4 million before summer.

I don't know about you guys but gamestop sucks. When they didn't send my demo code, I walked in and canceled mine. Got it from Amazon for $51.99 :) They had it on sale for $56.99 then a guy on here had the $5 promo coupon. Release date delivery for $51.99. Great deal.

The graphics are sick! It's a bit harder than your average shooter. The basic control layout is the best one. It's perfect for shooting when you go into cover.

No install, barely any loading times, and a killer experience. PS3 is showing the power of the console here.

Everyone needs to stop comparing this to Halo 3 though. Completely different games. It'll do 2 million the first week worldwide easily. It stayed near the #3 spot on Amazon for weeks, right behind the wii.

it's not going to be as halo was ,but let's face it that ps3 owners have a lot of really good games to play now and with many to come unlike the xbox when halo lauch a while back , i can't help but to applaud Sony for not being a one trick pony (xbox 360). Killzone as a franchise is going to be there for the long haul trust me. Now the ps3 packs an awesome punch with games like KZ2,RESISTANCE and so many other great titles.

I love all the excuses coming out about how people had work and had school the next day and that's why you didn't go pick up a copy blah blah. Gears 2 came out on a Friday...look at the success of that and there were a lot more stores than Gamestop doing midnight launches. The game is awesome and selling very well. To compare it to some other game launch such halo is ridiculous. Of course halo was much larger because we have to remember the xbox is a one trick pony.

I work at Gamestop part time and it costs us more money to stay open than to wait the next day. Besides every time we do a midnight thing only ten people show up and 50 more come to pick up the game the next day

I live in a town of 70K people and at midnight our store was filled with dudes that wanted to see true next gen. Even though Gamestop clearly has ties to MS, it was a fine showing. Everyone who games on the PS3 is playing it right now. Read my review of it and see what true gamers really look for, games that push the envelope, not just bow to $$$. Its only about $$$ to one company and I wish gamers would see through it, lets throw a lot of trash at them and they will love us. Look beyond yourself, look beyond your jealousy and anger, look beyond $$$, PLAY BEYOND.

I think PS3 fans in general are abit more evolved then the 360 kids. We (older gamers) use online stores proably much more then Retail.

Some people just fail, KZ2 has almost a 50% attach rate in some countries, and already 500,000 have played online line in NA alone.

I just completed the level on the train, OMG !! The game has got me addicted and I can't wait to finish it and play through it again. The graphics are amazing, especially the lighting. This game is a huge technical achievement just like GTA4 was. It has the graphics and the gameplay to match as well, I'm hooked like a fiend. Killzone 2 and Fallout 3 FTW!!!!!

The game is doing very well in the UK and is the start of the PS3 pulling ahead. The April 09 price cut will hopefully be chunky enough to tip it over the edge.

Enjoy Killzone is just amazing! The exclusive games the PS3 is getting is amazing. All the old exclusive (apart from MGS that has stepped up) are last gen and unfortunately should stay there.

Guerilla did well on the time spent. I haven't dove into the mp much yet since i'm still going through campaign but majority of my friends i see are playing K2 every day since it came out.

ok OMG KZ2 is the best game i have EVER seen EVER SO FAR tha graphics are jus UNREAL!!! and the game play is godly i duno what els to say but the best game out so far!

what the fuk! it has over a million preorders in Europe, probably more in America... then you have Australia (which won't be huge). and it's been selling well over the counter. this title will hit 3 million in less than two weeks and people are still going on about it not selling?!

Regardless of what the media says over the next two weeks, I'll be enjoying the game with a huge smile on my face. All gamers, who are truly gamers, just want to have a game with a great memorable experience. It's those types of games that give this industry heart and passion instead of a watered down mass market title.

I don't care if gamers that "give a sh1t" are in the minority today. I'm a gamer that wants great games where the developer puts effort and quality the same as I would. Whatever it's sales, whatever the excuses, just remember that the majority of people in this industry today are not that gaming related.

Hell, I've seen gamers stick up for a console because they own stocks in it. I've seen news and business sites review a game they probably never played. I've seen people like a console just because their friends and families have it...regardless of the hardware quality or game line up.

So, people can spin Killzone 2 into whatever they wish. They can jump the sales numbers, online lag, short lines, whatever. At the end of the day I know, from 30 years of playing, which game stands out with quality...and which ones don't. Killzone 2 may not be for everybody and that's fine. But to evaluate a game because of company related blunders is absolutely ridiculous.

A companies' advertising habits, activities, etc. have nothing to do with the quality of a game. So go ahead and talk about price, stocks, blunders, overhype, and glitches. When you're done dancing around the game as a whole, only one thing remains...it's a great game, great memory, and no one can take that away.

It's demographics. 360's primary age demo is 12-24 and PS3's demo is 18-32. More Ps3 gamers have careers and responsibilities that take priority over going to a midnight launch. I'm 29 and married with two kids. I stopped going to midnight launches after I finished school. Too much to do now than to worry about getting a video game at midnight. So to say that a launch was a failure because of the amount of midnight purchases is ridiculous. That's the kind of thing I would expect to hear out of someone lacking maturity, education, and common sense. Which would be from anyone age 12-24. And anyone who disagrees will know what I'm talking about in 8-12 years.

I got mine at a midnight launch, but there was only 15 people there. Smallest midnight launch I've been to.

I don't live in a big area though. It was nice of them to do that for us, I thought. The game is amazing, too.

that's how they can afford the classy PS3. Get it sooner or later, it's your lost if you haven't play KZ2. I did and I believe this game is AAA.

HipHopGamer, I like you man... but this is the one of the worst titles for a story that I've seen. I work for another game retailer, not GameStop or anyone owned by Gamestop, and we just can't keep Killzone 2 in stock, plus pretty much EVERY SINGLE person on my firends list is playing the game. I think it's selling incredibly well, even though Sony's advertising was sub-par if you ask me.

level 3 end...does not end after helgast are gone and they say clear...the game seems to be stuck it does not progress or do i need to go somewhere...i just dont know any have any ideas...i have tried 3 or 4 times...same results

I couldn't buy KZ2 yesterday cuz I had to work all night and when I got home from work tonight around 9:30pm, I went to Wally World and they were S.O.!!! I hope I will get better luck tomorrow. I guess I should pre-order from now on but I haven't ever not been able to purchase a popular game the day after its launch.....*sigh*...Sadly, where I live Lamestop closes at 9pm. Good thing Play N Trade is open till 5 tomorrow cuz I get 30% off anything I buy there. Take that Lamestop! Anyway, I hope everyone who bought KZ2 is enjoying it. Wish me luck!

Ok. First thing, the game is amazing, period, pretty much.

When I went into my local gamestop, it was afternoon and the guy next to me was picking it up as well. Don't know about the other patrons...didn't ask if a lot of people were picking up or not.

As another measure I just checked IGN and Gamespot. For the first time ever (I think) its the number 1 game there and it is the top game on IGN (these being popularity ratings, it is obvious that the hype is continuing) For reference Killzone2 was still # 6 at Gamespot 2 days ago.
