whats the point in this. T_T if your still using the basic CD laser for this, then you won't get any more songs on the disk, so it will still be a 80min disk, and 750MB disk, unless you put in the smaller laser, you won't get any more data out of it, so we just get scratch proof cds. woopdy do. T_T

whats wrong with asking for cd's that don't scratch? I enjoy CDs over MP3s for sure, and im really not an iPod person, anytime im walking around in public i like to hear whats going on around me, and not music. The only time i actually listen to music is when im gaming or driving alone. so yea, i definitely rely on cds. Plus im a sucker for actual things. like, i like to buy disks from the store, because they're real. and if i want to rip them to my hard drive or whatever that option is available. i dont have to use iTunes or anything wierd.

so yea, what im trying to get at is i like the idea of having scratch resistant cds. and definately like this idea.

With bluspec CDs, sony will be able to manufacture CDs that has more accurate reading mechanism that will reduce reading errors and will increase capacity, so higher data rates can be achieved on those newer CDs. How much advantage than CDs , I don't know, only Sony knows?

I still support CD's, and prefer a hard copy to convert into digital. This sounds awesome, excuse the pun. :)

I def think CDs need to die already. Everything should be sold on Flash Drives at this point or something.

CDs are used for what> I don't see the point of pushing another format in that arena, Movies make more sense, there is a collectedness to them and they are worth more to having them along with video games makes more sense.

Limewire and Itunes has shown that MP3 styled players are here and are here to stay, Down with CD I say....

Cant be all bad,i detest the sound of MP3's,however im a sound engineer and its my job to 'listen' to music in detail in a way the average consumer shouldnt have to,i understand that downloads are convienent for people but i like to buy a CD and be able to touch/look at it,MP3's just dont feel real to me.

Anything that keeps my music collection in a physical state is fine by me.

However Im not sure about this format given that DVD-A and SACD(which sounds amazing btw) have barely sold anything worth mentioning?

Just throw some Blu-Ray ROM discs at them. Not Blu-spec CDs.

Mind you, I do agree that compressed formats need to die down a bit. It feels like we are going backwards instead of actually progressing and improving audio quality.

how pathetic, i get negatives because i point out true facts on both products. blu-ray can only put so much data on the disk because of the laser size, its smaller then standard DVD and HD-dvd. blu-ray is 405 Nanometer wavelength. dvd is 650 Nanometers. only a pathetic sony fanboy who knows nothing about there own tech would give me disagrees. its based on the laser, not the entirly on the disk, blu-ray is also designed with the data farther at the botton of the disk so you can store more data then a standard dvd as well. since the red laser can not be accurate at reading that deep.

kinda sad, that you people give me disagrees, shows how smart the ps3 populace really is.

so in truth, that blu-spec CD. can not hold any more data then a regular CD, since its using the same wavelength, it won't be able to, its just going to prevent scratchs thats all.
