If CDs really are on their way out Sony's ready with a replacement, the Blu-spec CD!
First things first, you won't need a new player to play Sony's Blu-spec CDs. The Blu-spec CD website doesn't offer much info other than, "The Blu-spec CD format boasts a new approach to the faithful reproduction of music by utilizing the leading edge blue laser diode technologies optimized for the manufacturing of Blu-ray." The new discs' polycarbonate plastic, optimized for Blu-ray discs is used "to ensure accurate reading of the data."

Look I know VIII has its issues and all that but how on earth can the do big anniversary events with new artwork and merchandise for VII, IX and X yet VIII got sweet f*** all.
They could have given it something during its 25th anniversary yet all it got was a single Happy Anniversary post on their social media.

A brutal reset, a smarter story, and a return to what made it great—Mortal Kombat (2011) revived the series.
15 years went by so fast. I remember playing through the story mode at launch.
I'm confused??
What is the point of this media?
What I get from it is that it's made from the same material as blu-ray discs which should mean it's not easily scratched. Also they mention accurate reading of the data, not sure if that implies better sound quality/data streaming or whatever.
I just have to question the wisdom and/or purpose of this new media considering how huge digital music has become with the likes of iTunes out there and more recently Amazon with their own .mp3 downloads, also play.com in the UK offer the same service.
Blu-spec?
Damn Sony, you're so creative..
Jacked the blu from blu ray and added ''spec''.
i dont think CDs will get taken over..the average ear really cant tell the difference in sound after 128kbps..but my guess is that they add more time on the cd, if not, then Sony is wasting their money instead of marketing the hell out of the ps3 and its games
edit: then thats it..this project should be taken down...its really pointless
cds have long been dead to me.
