GameSpy: Deadly Creatures Review

Deadly Creatures is a bizarre idea for a game, not because of its adventure-style gameplay from the arachnid perspective, but because of the interleaved and surprisingly entertaining side-plot concerning two immoral bumpkins hunting for treasure in the desert wastes. Of course, it doesn't hurt that Deadly Creatures sports rich gameplay in the form of numerous and varied attacks for both of its multi-legged protagonists (a tarantula and a scorpion), as well as some clever mechanics specific to each arachnid. Thoroughly enjoyable despite of (or perhaps because of) its creepy subject matter, Deadly Creatures wins on several levels and is easily one of the best third-party games available for the Wii. But make no mistake, just because it's about bugs does not mean that it's for kids.

Pros:
* Fantastic graphics and animations
* Superb sound effects, music and voice work
* Brilliant level design takes advantage of main characters

Iffy:
* Disgusting main characters might make your skin crawl
* Motion control recognition sometimes shaky
* Occasionally flaky camera

That if this game will be a hit more hardcore games will come for wii. if not they will give less support for hardcore gamers. to bad it sucks

edwineverready6299d ago

my mistake. and your right there is no score in the review.

Shoko6299d ago

Dude, you messed up the review score. Gamespy gave it a great review. Why did you put 4.5/10? Did you actually read the article? They were praising the game throughout the whole review.

And no, your wrong edwineverready. You're thinking about The Conduit.

Mahr6299d ago

I wasn't aware that they allowed you to post a numerical score for a review that doesn't actually provide one, for reasons which are at this point quite obvious. o_O

Roddur6299d ago

i dont get it. did the submitter put his own number? is trying to make the game look bad? cos i can tell a lot of ppl will bash the game without even reading the actual review.

How about no Darksiders at all? I never understood how people could play this game from start to finish, both belong to the worst games I played in the last 10 years.

KrisButtar4564d ago

The 1st is one of my favorite games

AntoineDcoolette4563d ago

Darksiders is an amazing Zelda style game with terrific art direction, great characters, fun gameplay, and something severely lacking from this generation BOSS FIGHTS! The first also had a pretty decent story and its ending is one of my favorite endings in video games.

I also agree with the notion of the first being better than the second.

ELpork4564d ago

Horse sized duck... Well now I'm hungry.

RBlue_Desire4564d ago

Oh maaan, please continue the story of darksiders series.
Also if you do manage to get older developers, i hope you guys remove the rpg-ish element. <_<

The game was much better without it.

AntoineDcoolette4563d ago

Agreed! I feel the RPG/loot esque style detracted from focus that could have been spent on more memorable characters and gameplay.

Game Informer - Replay – Deadly Creatures

Game Informer - One of the most unique Wii titles revolved around a spider, a scorpion, and actors Billy Bob Thornton and the late Dennis Hopper. THQ released Deadly Creatures in 2009 to little fanfare, but many that played it were charmed by its quirkiness. This week, we see if that charm holds up.
