While Windows 7 will be great for new PC buyers and an easy upgrade for most Vista users, Windows XP users will find themselves having to do a new installation at a higher price

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
I'll laugh if this turns out to be another vista. XP is just too good for people to upgrade from.
Didn't an arstechnica article JUST SAY that you could upgrade from XP??
this article should be renamed to "Windows 7 upgrades will not be fun for most"
Well it's just a fact: you can't have the newest Windows OS on old hardware. I'm sorry if your hardware is over 6 year old, but the tech world moves forward. Windows 7 is being optimized to run on old hardware, but how old can you get? That old Pentium 3 might be a little out of date considering that Windows XP runs better on a Pentium 4. Pentium 4's are about 2 years at least, out of date, and a lot of people have been buying PCs with a multicore processor. Even a Core Duo can run Windows 7 fairly well, but you're really at an advantage if you've got at least a Core 2 Duo. It's like the digital changeover in North America in the coming months, that was recently postponed thanks to Obama's shortsightedness. People put off upgrading for as long as they can, and it will ultimately hinder them in the long run. I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and it's very fast on my modern PC. Eventually it will come time for people to upgrade and they need to. That's not opinion, that's a fact.
